Hi, i just order my pc today. Anyone can tell me got wrong or not my spec. Below is my spec:

i3 3220 - RM390
Kingston 8GB RAM DDR3 - RM180
P8Z77-V LK Mother Board - RM480
GTX 650Ti - RM660
1TB WD Hard Disk - RM250
GS700 Corsair Power Supply - RM390
GM Storm Stout 2 Case - RM280
Samsung DVD Writer - RM79
Samsung 23' Monitor - RM580
Totoal - RM32XX

90% i use it to play game like league of legends and sudden attack only.
5% Movie, 5% Music.

Anything need to change?
(i found that the price here is abit high but no choice, i am from sarawak)
*
shocking.gif

with your budget, you can get i5+GTX660 or HD7870

you overkilled on your motherboard. Z77 extra OC features is useless for non OC processor like your i3

and the GTX650 Ti will stutter on the latest games in terms of graphics performance.. but sicne youre playing not very graphical intensive games.. should be fine i guess

have your purchased it yet? if not, change the parts!

I would like to know whether Cooler Master Silent Pro Hybrid 850W is sufficient and extra room left for below configuration :

i7 3770K (going to overclock it)
Corsair H100 water cooler
Gigabyte Z77X D3H
2x 8GB Corsair DDR3 Vengeance PC1600
Leadtek GTX 670
2x SSD and 3x HDD
*
more than sufficient imo

IB procs are very power efficient, even with high OC

as for the rest, they also dont draw too much power. you can even get away with heavy proc OCing on 650W hmm.gif

Hi guys,so I got a quote from gigaleon for this spec for RM1580, is this ok?
intel i3-3220
kingston 4gb ram
wd 500gb harddisk
asus b75m-lx plus
cooler master elite 361
samsung dvd writer
acbel 550w power supply
sapphire hd7770 1gb ddr5
*
try swap the motherboard with a Msi B75MA G43 RM229, cheaper than the RM250 ASUS B75 and similar specifications

PSU can swap with FSP Hexa 500W for more reliable true power PSU than Acbel, though Acbel is not a bad choice either

hey there again... mind asking, which one is preferable

AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core

or

Intel i5 3470
*
Depends on what you need it for

The 8 core AMD may be weaker than the Intel i5 but in some situations where more cores = better results in CPU rendering programs, AMD's 8 core is the clear winner despite being a power guzzler and less efficient

But if youre just going for gaming, day to day normal casual processes, go for the i5. Its way better in gaming performance despite having less cores

Casing CM Storm Scout 2

Which board is better?

Wonder is it worth spending rm 200 extra for intel i5 3570K with MSi z77a g43.
*
Youve already said you wont OC, getting the K variant is a waste of money already since youre paying more on somehing you wont use. Better try optin for a Xeon E1230 V2 at RM699 if youre not OCing and have the budget of i5 3570K

Z77 chipsets you can get, but not much diff compared to H77 chipsets except the mainboard size and overclock feature

How about this situation.

If I were to opt for the i5 3570K rm 679, will it able to survive for at least 2-3 years whereby overclocking can survive game demands by just upgrading GPU.

Or else 3470 rm 559 does the job well?
*
Its possible, but dont expect huge increments

A friend of mine OCed his Q6600 last time but only gained an increment of 4-5FPS in Crysis at 1080p. At best you can expect ~10% gain in performance.

A 3470 will do the job well, considering its still powerful enough for most games (minus those high CPU power required games like CoH, SC2 and Total War series)

You're saying that saving rm 120 getting i5 3470 for gaming is good enough even for FPS games?

Btw has any PC games utilize hyper-threading processor?

Something like i5 3570K vs E3 1230v2 since both are at the same price.
*
Using an i5 for FPS games is really the best choice as FPS games by default rarely stresses the CPU alot compared to how it stresses the GPU. An i7 would suit games that can utilise the higher processing power and maybe HT.

afaik, HT tech is not yet utilised by games. Maybe cept a few like Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3 which already proven that i7 gives extra 3-5FPS increment compared to an i5

So intel Xeon e3 1230v2 pretty useless in gaming?

Does video conversion in which emphasize on CPU cores processing does better in HT or CPU that can overclocked higher than stock?

Because my aim is gaming and video conversion.
*
itll perform more or less as an i7, minus the premium price tag

video conversion iirc utilises HT tech hmm.gif

HT should be better, as you have more cores to perform the conversion than an i5.

Hello sifus. Please help me build my 1st desktop as before this i'm using laptop. So, I know nothing about this.  sweat.gif

[Budget] : Around RM2100+-. (Not include monitor, mouse and keyboard. Only the unit).  tongue.gif

[Purpose] : Gaming (can support latest games even if only with mid settings), watch hd movies and also easy to upgraded in the future.  nod.gif

[Hardware that will be reuse from old rig] : Only mouse.

[Monitor resolution] : Any recommendations the best for >23" ? (Not include from budget above).  drool.gif

[Game or software that use frequently] Online gaming (cs, dota, etc.).

[Personal Preference Brand] None. Any brand will accept.

Thank you so much in advance!  notworthy.gif  thumbup.gif  rclxms.gif

try

Intel Core i3 3220 RM344
MSI B75MA P45 RM229
1x4GB Value RAM RM89
WD Blue 1TB RM194
Sapphire HD7870 XT RM800+ <-- this allows you to play every latest games on high at 1080p icon_idea.gif
Enermax NAXN 550W RM215
Casing of choice RM200
Lite-On DVD Drive RM59
Total: RM2130

optionals, user cheaper casing and weaker GPU (HD7850) then get an i5 3470 RM559
bear in mind, these are not upgradable in future as the next gen processors will be using diff motherboard sockets already. only GPU, HDD, RAM, PSU can carry forward wink.gif

If I get it from Australia do u think they have leadtek GPU? Because from what I read its mostly available in Malaysia only? Are there other equivalent GPU u CNS recommend?

Leadtek is the cheapest in Msia compared to ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI. For the GTX670 variant btw

Try look around in Aus and see if they have any other types like Palit, Zotac, EVGA (unlikely) etc

If I build this rig for normal use, is it overkill?
Do some photo editing, Microsoft Office, download movies, watch movie and surf the internet.
*
You can ditch the GPU if you dont mind using the built in Intel graphics since your requirements dont really need a discrete graphics card

WTA if this can run games like BF3, tomb raider or assassin creed 3. Been a while since i played game. Wondering which to choose. Get a laptop Lenovo Y400 or PS3 w/ tv or build a decent rig.

Core i5-3470 RMRM625
Sapphire Graphic Card HD7850 2GB GDDR5 RM645
GIGABYTE LGA1155 INTEL H77 MOTHERBOARD RM390
Corsair CMPSU-700GS UK Gaming Series 700W RM 355
Kingston 8GB DDR3 Desktop RAM RM176
SEAGATE 3.5-INCH 1TB SV35 RM247
*
as per your question, yes it can

however, several parts are overkill for your setup. the PSU and the motherboard. you can get lower but still good ends and top up more on the GPU department

Hi guys!

After asking around a few times, I've decided to get a rig of something like this,
purpose is mainly for gaming but also sometimes doing some rendering and VFX work.
What do you guys think? Budget is around 3000.

i7 3770
MSI Z77 MA-G45
Kingston 8GB RAM
WD Blue 1TB
Sapphire Vapor-X HD7950
Seasonic S 620W
DVD-RW
Cooler Master K280
*
pretty decent build imo, but is the Z77 chipset really required? a H77 should do just fine imo

and if only you can squeeze abit more for the HD7970 whistling.gif

Haha, i didn't know much about Z77, it was recommended to me, but if I wanted to leave room for future upgrades, which one is better?

Yup, agree about the HD7970, but really can't squeeze anymore haha, this is already max budget  sweat.gif
*
both are also not much diff, 4 DIMM slots, 1 PCIe 3.0, 1 PCIe 2.0. same amount of SATA3 ports. 2 USB3.0 ports at back

except in size. (ATX vs mATX)

the H77 one is RM289 whistling.gif

EDIT: just RM20 extra, so should be fine to opt for it hmm.gif

Hi guys, just wanna  have feedback on this new rig. Note that graphic card and psu will be added later due to not needed right now.

The rig is mostly for gaming (dota 2 , bioshock infinite) and movies.( mid settings are sufficient for me)

i5 3470  RM564
Asus P8H61-M LX r.20    RM199
D3 4GB Kingston value ram  RM99
Toshiba 1TB HDD  RM 189
ANY dvd-rw  RM59
CM Elite 344  RM109
Samsung S20B300B 20"  Rm 309

total - RM 1528

Budget- rm1500

All price are from viewnet. If these hardwares are taken from jayacom it will be under rm1500.
*
The processor is good, but if you want to save more, maybe opt for an i3 3220 RM334. The games you suggested above doesnt really require high processing power. Then add more for the GPU

As for the mainboard, at that price range you can get Asrock B75-DGS. B75 chipset boards usually comes with one SATA3 port and 1 USB 3.0 port

Ok so, here is my updated rig:

Core i5 3470
Asrock H77 Pro4/MVP
Seasonic S12 II 620W power supply
WD Black 1TB HDD Internal
Liteon DVD writer 24X
Corsair Carbide 300R @ Corsair Carbide 500R
Intel SSD 330 Series 120GB @ Plextor M5S 128GB @ Crucial M4 128GB

Hardware that will be used from old rig:
2x2GB Kingston DDR3 RAM
500GB WD Green 500GB
Sapphire HD 7750
Dell U2412M

I still plan on using my Sapphire HD 7750 and upgrade it later on. The thing I want to ask is, do I need to upgrade my RAM more and is my motherboard good enough? I dont plan on overclocking. Also which SSD should I choose and which casing between those two should I choose? Also blue or black internal HDD?

Any suggestion is highly appreciated and sorry for asking too many questions ! notworthy.gif

EDIT : Forgot to mention that my budget is around  RM2500 for these items excluding gc. I will be buying all these through postage and I live at KL.

Purpose: mostly gaming(battlefield, cod, crysis) and 1080p movies.
*
Your motherboard is sufficient for a non OCer and 4GB RAM is still okay these days. You can always opt for more RAM, but now RAMs are overpriced

As for SSD, Intel reputedly has the better after sales service while Crucial is the fastest among all 3 (correct me if im wrong) of course, Plextor is the cheapest

Pick Blue, Black may have the better performance but its not by alot. Though, the 5 years offered for Black is enticing drool.gif
