Southeast Asian Games AFF Suzuki Cup football competition
Friday Saturday after two late goals from Malaysia, who join
Vietnam Singapore in the semi-finals.
Needing only a draw to qualify for the last four,
Thailand Indonesia were the better side for large parts of the match and made their superiority count when
Arthit Sunthornphit Andik Vermansyah struck seven minutes after half-time direct from a free-kick.
But nine minutes from full-time
Nasriq Baharom Wan zack Haikal scored at the far post after a fine cross from the left by Azmi Muslim to level the scores and give Malaysia hope.
On 90 minutes, Ahmad Fakri Saarani won the match for Malaysia, firing home a cross from the right by Norshahrul Idlan Talaha to make it 2-1 and spark wild scenes of celebration.
Vietnam Singapore topped
Group A Group B with
10 6 points after thumping
Cambodia Laos 6-1, with Malaysia on
nine six points and
Thailand, who had won every SEA Games Indonesia, who never won AFF Suzuki Cup football tournament since
1993 1996, on
seven four.Timor Leste Laos finished bottom of the
five-team four-team group with
no one points after
four two straight defeats.
Host nation
Laos Thailand and
Singapore Philipines on
Thursday Friday qualified for the semi-finals
of the under-23 competition from Group
B A.

Added on November 29, 2012, 6:00 pmOne determination for Laos to defeat Singapore is they would finish third and for the first time in their history, will not have to go through qualification.
A momentous achievement worthy of a try if you ask me.
