Fadhli Saas salahkan "Tinker-Man Rajagopal"
THE tension within the Malaysia camp exploded into life when defender Mohd Fadhli Mohd Shas slammed Datuk K. Rajagobal for tinkering too much with the team.
He said the 2010 team who won the AFF Suzuki Cup for the first time, were much better than the 2012 vintage as the team built up a good understanding in the run-up to the tournament.
“The players were still new when we played in the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup, but we built an understanding before the tournament started,” said Fadhli.
“Now the coach has brought in so many new players into the team and the old players like myself find it difficult hard to play alongside them.
“This should have been done earlier and not when a tournament as big as the AFF is approaching. Even in our friendly matches, the midfield had been altered several times and so the central pairings chemistry has been affected.”
Malaysia failed to win their last four matches prior to the tournament, losing to Thailand and Vietnam and drawing with Hong Kong and Bangladesh.
Malaysia will face Indonesia tonight needing a win to be assured of a place in the semifinals.
Indonesia lead Group B with four points while Singapore and Malaysia have three points each. Laos are last with one points.
“Maybe if we stopped changing the squad and just leave it as it was previously, then our results could have been much better,” said a frustrated Fadhli.
He added Rajagobal is doing all that he can to get the team’s attack organise as they have been sloppy in giving away possession at good scoring positions.
Fadhli, however, is confident Malaysian can get a good result as Indonesia lack experienced players.
“They only have three players from the team who finished runners-up to us two years ago.
“Their best player is playmaker, Andik Vermansah. I have played and done a good job of guarding him.”
