Thanks for sharing! I haven't sent to repair the magnetic clutch, I'm still doing research on where to get it done, no luck so far. Might have to go to Honda.

Magnetic clutch very common prob for ZE2. I replaced mine and happened again after few months during long drive.

Searched online and found in Insight Central forum. Apparently the poster is also Malaysian.

Based on discussion, they replaced the aircond relay.

Anyone replace this yet?

Same issue I faced. So dangerous when driving at night.

Anyone know our Insight headlamp is projector or reflector type? I think we need to choose the right lamp. LED / HID need to match the type of headlamp casing so it can works perfect.

Any recommendation where you guys bought your lamp and how bright is the spec?

Dun think it is the lamp’s prob. It is the casing of the headlamp turns cloudy thus the brightness of the headlamp is so dim.

Yes, it's the casing. I already swapped to 3rd party headlights and they're a lot better than the OG headlights, we tested outside the casing and it was magnitudes brighter but when put back into the casing it dims by a lot. I bought a Novsight Mini N50. 35W, 7.5k Lumen per bulb.

other than putting a much brighter lightbulb, any other things can be done?

i checked with honda service centre, i was quoted rm2.5k+ excluding labour for just one side of the headlamp.

do it outside shop?

i polish using Waxco plastic lamp cover cleaner and polish. looks better but in terms of brightness it does not help.. i suspect it was due to the yellowing or cloudy inside the casing and not outside.

I tried one of those chemical defoggers to make it less cloudy, helped only a little bit. But it'll come back in awhile. Changing the case seems like the only option left.

Yeah. Indeed. Mine after applying those headlamp cover cleanser or polish, it looks clearer from outside but totally does not help in the brightness at all.

Cannot technically change ‘cover’ only Becos it is one whole set including cover, projector, light bulb etc.

And it is super super expensive.

The only way to get brighter headlamps is change the lights entirely.

Mine was also terribly dim. Even after installing LEDs made no difference.

I bought mine from Shun Meng Auto Parts in Klang. 600 per pair.

Made all the difference.

Looking at the old ones, I can see inside the reflectors in the projector was corroded and the other one was melted. Maybe from using higher rating bulbs before.

Hope this helps.

Hi all, been a while since I visit here, good to see a still have active insighters, and unfortunately seems like the headlamp problem is a recurring thing too.

Just to add on to what others have said. I believe need to be replaced also the entire set.

In my own DIY repair attempt,
I did the headlamp sanding/polish at first thinking it's an external issue.
I was able to cucuk something inside, and was able to remove a layer of dust that accumulated on the inside surface of the headlamp.
I took out the bulb from the projector and stuck my finger around to try to clean out any additional dust that got in.
Replaced original bulb with LED ones.
Overall, all these helped slightly, but would say still dangerous to drive at night, especially, highway dark stretches...
Yes, i think only explanation is on the inside of the reflector as @westlife mentioned.

My car about 13 years d, Insight gen 1 not the facelifted version, never gone in once for any major service (except the aircond la)

Having gone through that experience, I'll advise others to just buy a whole set of the headlight, and have it replaced outside. BUT, you can't buy a second hand set, as the reflector may also be slightly damaged already.

For other owners with this issue, how you proceed ya
From what i researched.

1) buy OEM set of new headlight/install
2) some headlamp specialist maybe able to uninstall the headlamp and replace the projector/reflector side.

Do you have some recommendation if you've done either above? in klang valley. can share their details too?

thanks

Yes. It is the ‘eye ball’ of the lamp spoiled already and need to replace the entire thing but prob is where to find the entire thing.

Yes. Driving on highway at nite super dangerous.

The 3rd party LED headlamp system is working flawlessly after been using from standard bulb then turn to HID then the projector have worn out on the projector bowl which we as owner are clueless .

So far for those in central , you are so lucky to search many professional shops offering the LED headlamp system.

nowadays they offer projector LED low beam and Laser High Beam.

My few recommendation as below even I locate in Penang will have to drive down to central to make the changes happen. Some say it is very expensive to make the changes however you can see a big difference just like a new car while driving at night. Then you won't change your car after this.

1) YS Headlamp ( previously restore yellow plastic cover )
2) Headlights Projector Retrofit Malaysia ( my car change headlamp system at there with pic in their photo album )
