The HiControl is Himedia in house developed software, it is only available for Andriod platform only. Himedia did not develop for IOS at the moment.

Can you let me know how to share files with PC or vice versa? When using samba, ftp or NFS, I need to key in the q5 ip add on PC.
How to find the IP add of my Q5?

To share the files from PC to Q5, pls follow the below steps :
1). First ensure your PC has created shared folder. ( http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on...der-wizard/3180 )
2). Goto ES File Explorer which I pres-installed in ur Q5.
3). Change the icon "Local" At the top left corner of ES Explorer, change to LAN.
4). Click "New" to Add the Server or Scan, if your PC and Q5 are in the same wifi network, then Q5 should be able to detect your PC after scanning.
5). If scanning could not found yur PC, just add the IP address of your PC directly, loin ID and password.
6). If your PC shared folder has been setup properly, Q5 should be able to find the PC shared folder.


To share the Q5 folder to PC, pls follow the below steps :
1). Goto Setting -> Samba Service
2). Start the Samba service by tick the square box.
3). Goto Wireless & Networks setting -> at the top right corner there is button "SCAN", "ADD NETWORK" and three Dot icon. Click the 3 dot button and follow by "Advanced.
4). Then you can see the IP address here.
5). Goto your PC Windows Explorer, enter the IP address then yu should see the folder "share".

Pls try the above, hope you manage to shared the folder. If you using Windows 7 home edition with minimum security control, the shared folder could be easily created. Hope I answered your question.

I also have same issue. It broke after I change to default launcher then able to recover normal after device reset factory mode. Then again break again after install some apps. Need to check n reinstall app one by one later to see which the culprit.

Mouse used the measy air mouse. The q5 didnt detect the dongle after startup.

Thanks. Already managed to share files from PC to Q5 and vice versa.

When using Q5, my Sony TV screen seems to be elongated but when I use Apacer media player, the tv screen is normal.
Is it something to do with the picture ratio in Q5 setting?

To add the favorite, you need the original Himedia remote controller :

1). goto app manager
2). select the app to be add using the left right up down key
3). Click the menu button on the Himedia remote controller then you can see the "Add" button at the buttom of the screen.

It is either the screen ratio or resolution setting, pls try to change different resolution 720p or 1080p depend on the support resolution of your Sony TV.

do i need to tweak mxplayer to use hardware decoder before launchhing xbmc?

Bro, found the below thread, tested in my Q5 and it works. Just direct copy the file "playercorefactory.xml" to the folder /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata.

P/S: /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc is hidden folder, if your file manager could not see the file please activate "show hidden file". Recommend to use ES File Explorer if you could not find the folder.

Not much chance to play with the launcher, need to retain the Himedia default launcher to support my customers and simulate the scenario base on the default environment.

yeah i understand, need default launcher for inexperience or new user for android
i'll definitely try the xbmc solution later, as for file browser i recommend root browser

tried to install a fanmade apps for tv3, ntv7 and other channel by JY Studio LINK but failed, works on my galaxy note 2 and galaxy nexus tho
do u guys have any alternative streaming apps?


so i decided to root my q5 using these set of instructions
make sure u have all the necessary files LINK and know what u're doing

adb connect q5_ip_address:5555
adb root
adb remount
adb push su /system/bin
adb push Superuser.apk /system/app
adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
adb shell reboot

I met the same problem too. It cant detect my measy mouse after startup. So I connect the dongle to media player via a USB hub. Then bring the hub nearer to the front. It works and mouse can be used at every startup.
