QUOTE(rgchai @ Jun 6 2014, 01:26 PM) Hi all, Recently realized there is a new firmware 1.1.6 for Q5. Is there anyone tried it before? Any comments/issues on this new firmware? Thank you. Bro, 1.1.6 firmware already in skydive. P/S: the above firmware refer to Q5 not Q5II.

Only yesterday nicety helped me to reinstall the XBMC to my Q10ii which I bought from him in end March 2014.
His after-sales service is first class even though the fault in the XBMC was mine.
So just in time to watch the 2014 World Cup!
Many thanks to nicety

Hi,
After updated with 1.0.6 chinese firmware to Q5ii nand version, updated with google play patch. Update via force update method
I have problem below: 1. Resumed playback from network drive failed, have to start from beginning only works, otherwise the whole thing just hang there, black screen. 2. Youtube problem still not resolved like 1.0.5
I am now trying to force update with previous version 1.0.5 english firmware hope I can get back the wonderful experience with video playback I had before.
Anyone having this problem with 1.0.6 chinese firmware? The interface looks good, Mango TV too, but too bad the problem with local playback.

Apparently, Himedia will force you to update to 1.0.6 firmware after I have flashed with 1.0.5. no choice but to stay with 1.0.6 at the moment.

HI all,
I think the resume problem got something to do with the video file, I am still trying to figure out why, and found out more info about the video codec used in the affacted mkv file.
Youtube problem I have to use the version from nicety or the version comes with this firmware, latest version from playstore won't work, according to nicety latest youtube apps might not work with all android TV box. Funny though, it is working fine with all tablets, Ipad, cheapo chinese tablet as well, maybe Android TV box has a different design.
Anyway I have flashed with 3rd party 1.0.5 firmware because this version stop the online update prompt, I am still thinking of updated with 1.0.6 chinese firmware version from nicety.
Nevertheless, thanks again to nicety for the fantastic after sales service

We might not able to resolved all issues, but we could always feedback to Himedia or provide the workaround solution. Please feel free to feedback if you encounter any issues. Something else to share. If you plan to use force update, please remove all SDacrd, wireless mouse dongle, leave only the USB drive in the USB port, else the unit will complain update failed. You can also do the update from system, update menu, select the drive letter that contain the update file, I tried this method for few times it always keep all my apps intact, however it will cause conflicts if major update is involved, so the force update method is still the safest.

Thanks I would not recommended free streaming for world cup since free streaming does not guarantee the service availability. I would recommend to subscribe to CloudTV service on monthly basis. For Astro, you need to download Astro on the Go from Googleplay store or ASTRO WEBSITE.

ASTRO spend millions in buying copyright from overseas licensee, dun think they will turn blind eye on privacy problem.

QUOTE(taithinye @ Jun 16 2014, 09:50 AM) i've been installing astro OTG lately, and found it is not stable while playing worldcup live using my Q5ii. The app running well on my iphone and s4. The app crash or exit while playing the live football match. Android is open system, it is installed in all different chipset, different smart phones, tablets, different brand and models. A good Android developer will test their app in all different chipset to fix the bugs if found any. However, most of the local developer do not do this, but just test in common popular devices such as IOS or Samsung only. However Astro OTG has already improved, earlier it could only run in iPad and Samsung Note. Your problem mainly due to coding compatibility with HiSilicon chipset. Below link(question #3) show how CloudTV test there app in various chipset : http://cloudtv.bz/articles/detail/9/This post has been edited by nicety: Jun 16 2014, 09:26 PM
