Guys, not much update for quite some time? Any news when it will be reaching our shores? =)

Got some news about it back at MWC last month. They announced the Sailfish SDK, and also showed off some new features. The OS (and app ecosystem) is nowhere near ready just yet.

Jolla's CEO did mention their first device will be launched on the second half of the year, but their first markets will be Finland and China. Quite be some time before we see it here (if we see it, that is.)

ohya! saw the video..they're in some way going the right direction by opting to hit China market
but on the other hand, I personally feel they've taken a tad too long? Worried they can't catch up with the ever fast forward moving technology of smartphones~

That's the biggest issue with Jolla. Tizen and Ubuntu devices will be launching months before Jolla's first phone. It'll be hard to retain interest for that long. On the other hand, Sailfish still looks slightly ahead in terms of OS development compared to Tizen, so fingers crossed, we *could* see it sooner than expected.

Also, we must remember that these are the same guys who launched the N9 when they all knew it wasn't yet ready. So we could get a pretty polished device when it eventually is launched.

They've also got Ubuntu SDK days for more interactive sessions for app development. Well, they have got the resources to do these things...

If you look at the dev website, you can see it also uses Qt and QML at its core for app development.

seems ubuntu is far more ready to.launch then Jolla. *sigh*

with the current woes by google.. (closing google reader, stopping exchange protocol.on gmail, etc..) , many n9 users will stop usong n9...and will be relying on OS with official apps even more than before..not sure if jolla will wins big-name app developer (like google) out there..

Well, it was coming anyway. Opened up the N9 to download something from the Store, and it refused to download any app. I hate to say this, but despite the community support many are no longer using the N9 as their primary phone already.

Whatsapp? Gosh you should see how they treated tgalal and their openwhatsapp project.

Nope..but Asha 501 its like baby N9..

so i saw BB's Z10..pretty awesome, really hope Jolla can outdo that of which has been done.

They mentioned 1630 GMT, and our time zone is GMT +8 so...

1630hrs + 0800hrs = 2430 GMT

in other words:

May 21, 12:30AM Malaysian Time.

As of the timing of my post right here we have around 13 more hours to go... but damn cannot wait!
