QUOTE(passmaster14 @ Mar 17 2013, 10:45 PM) Got some news about it back at MWC last month. They announced the Sailfish SDK, and also showed off some new features. The OS (and app ecosystem) is nowhere near ready just yet. ohya! saw the video..they're in some way going the right direction by opting to hit China market Jolla's CEO did mention their first device will be launched on the second half of the year, but their first markets will be Finland and China. Quite be some time before we see it here (if we see it, that is.) but on the other hand, I personally feel they've taken a tad too long? Worried they can't catch up with the ever fast forward moving technology of smartphones~ |

Hey guys, I just received an email from Jolla.
QUOTE The countdown has started! Pre-order for Finland starts tomorrow * We will launch the second wave of Jolla pre-orders for Finland on Thursday, the 19th September, 2013 at 12 noon. Countdown with us at http://jolla.com/fi. Pre-orders will be delivered in the order of registration. * The second wave pre-order campaign is currently only available in Finland. Campaign info for other markets will be announced in the future. The big Q I want to ask is, have they forgotten about those that PO-ed for free in the first wave of PO? I have not heard from them asking for payment or anything, and here they are launching the second wave already. |

QUOTE(passmaster14 @ Dec 13 2013, 12:16 PM) Anyone here who pre-ordered got an email from Jolla asking to pay just yet? Jolla keeps mentioning everyone who pre-ordered will get a device, but priority seems to be to those from EU for the first AND second pre-order batches only. yeay, I am not alone Was hoping to get mine before the end of the year, but now I'm not so hopeful :/ I believe it will come to Asia soon enough. If you view from their(Jolla) perspective, business-wise, it is a more 'secure' approach to hit the EU countries first especially in Finland itself. They are a new brand, and to go worldwide at launch would be too much to bear for them as not many people are aware of them. Should allow them time to build their rep in the smartphone world |

QUOTE(biatch0 @ Jan 15 2014, 09:57 AM) Phone was about 1800, courier back was another 500. The Limited Edition TOH has just arrived in UK, so shipping for that will cost another bomb - haven't decided maybe I'll pick it up when I head to EU in a few months. how has it worked so far, up to satisfaction? 4G LTE is still disabled in the current firmware, so I can't tell you if it works. give some review |

QUOTE(biatch0 @ Jan 24 2014, 12:20 AM) QUOTE TLDR: Hardware is decent, software is beta (and is advertised as beta) but has huge potential, weakest link for Jolla at this point in time is communication and customer service (I’ve just received a reply on the 24th of January to a ticket I posted on their support site on the 25th of December) Aw man, I too received their email reply after a long time - made me think that they had no interest in customers currently 'beyond' their reach. |

QUOTE(passmaster14 @ Jan 24 2014, 02:53 PM) Well, I got my reply for both my queries within 24 hours when I emailed them in December, so it's still a hit and miss affair. Yea man, not an impression any upcoming company would want to imprint onto its current/future customers. But the reply was one of the worst replies I've ever received in terms of content, as I was bitterly disappointed at how Jolla has conducted their pre-order campaign. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So basically, all of us who pre-ordered and not provide an EU address have just paid 40 euros for a t-shirt. If Jolla decides that they will not expand to SEA, or "are still working on expanding our sales network", then there's a high chance that we may have burned 40 euros. It's such a pity though. Such a nice phone. |

Since the Sailfish OS will be able to run on Android phones, is there still a point to get a Jolla phone at 399Euros ?
I think Jolla made a mistake there by telling the world - "you can run the Sailfish on your androids, you don't need a Jolla phone for it." Pretty much shot themselves in the foot? What do you think? |

Here's a very nice piece regarding Jolla at the recent MWC2014
This will be the year of Sailfish TS, you may attach the article on the first page few things to note from the article to take note: 1) Jolla are hoping to be able to port Sailfish to Android phones 2) Already stated they will hit India & Hong Kong market this year, China's in the list too Really made me remember why I didn't get iOS/android yet(still using n9), no need for dedicated home & back button and pure gesture control & multi-tasking am now thinking whether or not to get Jolla..but main turn off is no support(after sales service) in malaysia(yet) What do you folks think, wait it out until Jolla officially arrives on Malayan shores(or at least SEA), or forego it and use it's OS on android phone? |

QUOTE(biatch0 @ Sep 12 2014, 06:20 AM) Thinking about letting go of my Jolla... It's currently my secondary device - I put my Malaysian SIM into it when I travel, and my international SIM in it when I'm in KL. This typically means it sits around at home doing nothing 99% of the time did you use mitakuuluu(native whatsapp)? I just got my Jolla, updated the Sailfish OS and also downloaded mitakuuluu - but am having trouble getting the sms-code to register.I'll be getting a new phone some time in the next couple of months - which means the Jolla will end up becoming a tertiary device (kind of like my N9 which is my digital clock). 20140926154830 - 4G connection with Maxis 20140926154949 - 4G speed test with Maxis (Ookla Speedtest in Alien Dalvik) 20140926155008 - Speed test results (including 1 via home WiFi) IMG_1018 - Jolla device (top), The First One TOH (orange - exclusive to preorders), Custom Laser Etched TOH (white - default TOH) The error says; "No cell routes for sending sms caused by your operator. Please try other method [voice/sms]." Initially I thought cannot receive sms,but that's not the issue (can receive and send sms from other people). FIXED & SOLUTION 1) Download (from Jolla Store) : Apptoide 2) Download (from Apptoide) : Whatsapp 3) Do the standard verification (SMS/call). [Encountered minor issue here, refer spoiler] » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 4) Open Mitakuuluu, it will automatically sync with your Whatsapp. (now you can use both!!)
