the other day she called me to ask whether i want a poodle, but i dont really like poodle,so i said i'll wait until she gets a MS or shih tzu. sighz.. so long,i was actually going to get a shih tzu from a local petshop but she insisted that she will get one for me,as long im wiling to wait. sighz.. |

QUOTE(Tainted @ Mar 7 2006, 10:20 PM) Hahaz good then.Anyway, Im still having troubles with my Muika. Today, for the whole day he has been quite okie, I bring him out to pee/poo and everything seems to be undercontrol. But then, just now.. before I come up, I brought him out for pee/poo but he went into a scary mode. He runs very fast and keep chasing me, then bite everything so agressively. Then, he even barks at me, and growls loudly. Im not sure what did I done that caused him so mad at me.. Really not sure lah.. |

That is not aggressive, that is being hyper active. He has too much energy so he released it in such a big boost that he made all those antics.

But I prefer him to release it bit by bit. Release it in one shot is abit too aggresive for me. Owh yea, he scratched my legs until bleeding. When he was charging to the slippers, I quickly took it away then he used his nails to scratch me. QUOTE(Tainted @ Mar 7 2006, 10:41 PM) I'll try my best.Anyway, I brought him for vacination today. I suggest you find a website on dog training or buy a book on it. Really helps a lot.I'll try my best. Anyway, I brought him for vacination today. Need to feed him the deworm tablet tomorrow. A bit worried about it. A dog or puppy won't know what hurts you. Coz in nature, they play rough to excercise the muscle and skill. So of course to us is like hurting us lah. But you gotta understand, a puppy won't know the difference. |

Like, he doesnt barks or growls, but looks like playing with me. Sometimes, he looks very fierce ? Whats the different ?A dog or puppy won't know what hurts you. Will struggle one lah.... Not all dogs will let you open their mouths. To make your dog know you are alpha, then control him, don't always manja manja him. It will become a problem whem older.
The open mouth and stick pill not only vet says. EVERY DOG CARE GUIDE BOOK says.... |

I try to train Muika to sit, by giving him dog food by he doesnt care about me. I pressed his back legs to the floor then make him stay like that for like 2-3 secs then only I treat him but its quite difficult.

Yes...most of the puppies will cry when they bathed ( which i found very cute and adorable Hey...did u bath him with warm water? must ya For tears...i think petshops do sell tear remover right? im not sure. I never use it. I only use water. 1 of my doggie has the same problem too. When i ask vet, he said that something has blocked his tear pores. Can be cured by small operation to his eye. But its not worth it. He said only those owner that wanna bring their dogs to competition will only do that. If its only a home dog then its not worth it. As for his ear, u can buy the ear cleaner at the petshops. Pour 1 or 2 drops to its ear...close it and massage it gently. Then u can use cotton bud to clean the surface. My doggie dont like this method. So i just wet the cleaners to the face cotton and then i open his ear and clean it gently. Hope this helps Edited: Typo This post has been edited by Cresie: Mar 10 2006, 04:22 PM |

Yea, i bought the ear cleaner too. I put some on the cotton bud then clean his ear. Only the surface tho, not the inside, I scare I will hurt him. Hmm, for the tear stain, can I ask my vet to remove it for me ? Hmm.. anyway after his bath, he became very active today. I put him in the living and he keep running around in a top speed. So funny, and when I on the tv, he sat there quietly and watch it with me.
Btw, I really dont know how to clean his ear. How often do u guys clean their ears ? Tell me more about the ears. As for the tears stain, I tried to remove them just now but they are dried and sticked on the fur, I dont dare to force it so I stopped. |

Tear Stains removers aren't effective. Sorry lah but maltese will sure have tear stains wan.... you gotta clean the fur around the eyes with cotton and warm water every day twice a day. Then the stain will lessen.

QUOTE(Cresie @ Mar 14 2006, 10:12 AM) Yea, more-tamed now. Hahaz, I think he knows whats his name already. Whenever I call his name, he will look at me. Then, he loves to play hide-and-seek with me. Sometimes I pretend that I cant find him, then he quickly run to another spot and peek at me. Hahaz!! |

my doggie also like to hide all the chew bones that i gave to him. But he hides them at the corners that we wont notice. And sometimes hides under cars in garage. |

QUOTE(Tainted @ Mar 16 2006, 03:47 PM) Yea, quite well. He is more obedient now, at least he will control his pee/poo times until he see me and thats when I will bring him out to eliminate. Normally, the first thing he does in the garden is to relieve himself. After that, he will roll on the grass, and dig some holes around. Oh ya, he loves to hide behind the pots and peek at me. |

hey, maltese owner here.
she's about 6 months old now, pretty white coat, very active but quite and obedient at times. as for tear stains, well, all maltese has it, and it is particular obvious when the puppy is teething, mine went through that stage, can notice a lot of tear stains during that time, now it is better already. and the ear, the smell is really powerful if not cleaned frequently, the ears flop down so less ventilation, and thus the smell |

She would even lick her mouth to tell me that she wants what i'm eating. But have to be firm, not everything is good for her |

Then when he finished, he will try to go to the floor, and when he sees its too high for him to jump, he will started to bark at the ground. QUOTE(electron @ Mar 28 2006, 08:34 PM) Yea, they are very playful. Anyway, a few command will be a great aid in taking care of dogs really. Mine only knows sit, so nowadays when he's doing something that he shouldnt, like biting the slippers or something, I'll say "No" and then "Sit". He will then sits there looking at me, but then, within a minute, he will continue with the bitings. |

Im not sure, it's like small red brownish dots under his coat. They grow at the place where the fur didnt grow. Near his.. that organ.

does it look like pimple? if it's just normal small red dots, i think no need to worry that much. If it's puss filled pimples, better bring to vet but actually a normal wipe on that portion and clean all the puss would be ok already

Anyone know where I can get female maltese? I know I can look for them in petshops but it is not like looking for a can of sardines. They only come in batches and most the time the shops don't 'stock' them. I want to get one for a friend.

My friend did that and he got a beautiful maltese for only RM1.5k and it came with cert also.... Or was it RM1.2k... can't remember.... but cheaper than a petshop that was selling RM2.5k and the health of the puppy was good, better than petshop. |

I'm a car enthusiast but unfortunately don't know much about doggies. My friend is crazy about Maltese but she wants a female. Yeah.. pet store prices are crazy, even rundown looking stores are selling them for RM2.2K. I will see what I can do with MKA. Can I just call them up and ask them for breeder info? They'd just release it to me? Would it be better if I just pay them a visit in TTDI (found MKA website contact) and get the contacts from them? I always prefer face to face contact instead of just anonymously calling on the phone. Thanks for the info. This post has been edited by sleepwalker: Apr 6 2006, 11:05 PM |

So far that's all I got from calling. Names and numbers. They don't do background research on the breeders. It would be better to get the numbers, call them and sort of have a phone interview with the breeders. Normally good breeders will love to talk to you about the breed, while puppy mills/breeders(those that breed many many breeds) will not talk much. Even if talk also, can find some lose ends.....Thanks for the info. Try and find a breeder that only specialise in Maltese. That's the best. |

Maltese belongs to the "shy and afraid of stranger type"
or "active and friendly" type? My parent Mini Shaunzer is hyperactive -.-''' I am thinking of getting a Maltese, but my fren's Maltese is SOOO afraid of stranger that it treat me as enemy... growling at me.. -.- |

QUOTE(ed0gawa @ Apr 28 2006, 02:54 AM) Maltese belongs to the "shy and afraid of stranger type" Hmm, I think Maltese is very friendly tho. Actually, its like.. when u let ur friends (who are strangers to him/her) go in ur house, they will growl at them. But when ur like, talking to ur friends, Maltese will know that they are ur friends and they will started to play with them. They're very active also, and of cos very friendly. My maltese let my friends hug him, carry him here and there.or "active and friendly" type?
