the other day she called me to ask whether i want a poodle, but i dont really like poodle,so i said i'll wait until she gets a MS or shih tzu.
sighz.. so long,i was actually going to get a shih tzu from a local petshop but she insisted that she will get one for me,as long im wiling to wait.

Hahaz good then.

Anyway, Im still having troubles with my Muika. Today, for the whole day he has been quite okie, I bring him out to pee/poo and everything seems to be undercontrol. But then, just now.. before I come up, I brought him out for pee/poo but he went into a scary mode. He runs very fast and keep chasing me, then bite everything so agressively. Then, he even barks at me, and growls loudly. Im not sure what did I done that caused him so mad at me.. Really not sure lah.. sad.gif

That is not aggressive, that is being hyper active. He has too much energy so he released it in such a big boost that he made all those antics.

Alright.. But I prefer him to release it bit by bit. Release it in one shot is abit too aggresive for me. Owh yea, he scratched my legs until bleeding. When he was charging to the slippers, I quickly took it away then he used his nails to scratch me. sad.gif

Your puppy is young, it is hyper lah.... Very normal with all puppies. All you need is training. I suggest you find a website on dog training or buy a book on it. Really helps a lot.

A dog or puppy won't know what hurts you. Coz in nature, they play rough to excercise the muscle and skill. So of course to us is like hurting us lah. But you gotta understand, a puppy won't know the difference.

Anyway, I just feed him the tablet, a bit difficult to control him as he keep struggle when Im trying to feed him and he doesnt want to get the tablet down, then I have to push it down myself which is the way that the vet taught me. Ahh.. scary. sweat.gif

laugh.gif It's like that one. Dogs will get hyper when they just bathed.
Yes...most of the puppies will cry when they bathed ( which i found very cute and adorable wub.gif )
Hey...did u bath him with warm water? must ya
For tears...i think petshops do sell tear remover right? im not sure. I never use it. I only use water.
1 of my doggie has the same problem too. When i ask vet, he said that something has blocked his tear pores. Can be cured by small operation to his eye. But its not worth it. He said only those owner that wanna bring their dogs to competition will only do that.
If its only a home dog then its not worth it.
As for his ear, u can buy the ear cleaner at the petshops.
Pour 1 or 2 drops to its ear...close it and massage it gently. Then u can use cotton bud to clean the surface. My doggie dont like this method. So i just wet the cleaners to the face cotton and then i open his ear and clean it gently.
Hope this helps smile.gif

U mayb scared him.. so he cried then bark at u like marah u... nvm.. every1 hv the 1st time to trying something new.. u mayb can get more advise o knowledge from ur vet by asking them to show u the correct way to bath ur baby..

And for the tear stain.. yes tat is a liquid to clean it n the smell too.. currently i m using a blue bottle 1(sorry dunno the name) n it quite effective compare to the previous 1 i used b4.. the smell n the stain all removed.. thumbup.gif but it is a bit expensive compare to other... for ear oso there is a liquid o cleaner to clean it using cotton pad o cotton bar..

Yea, i bought the ear cleaner too. I put some on the cotton bud then clean his ear. Only the surface tho, not the inside, I scare I will hurt him. Hmm, for the tear stain, can I ask my vet to remove it for me ? Hmm.. anyway after his bath, he became very active today. I put him in the living and he keep running around in a top speed. So funny, and when I on the tv, he sat there quietly and watch it with me. laugh.gif

Btw, I really dont know how to clean his ear. How often do u guys clean their ears ? Tell me more about the ears.

As for the tears stain, I tried to remove them just now but they are dried and sticked on the fur, I dont dare to force it so I stopped.

Tear Stains removers aren't effective. Sorry lah but maltese will sure have tear stains wan.... you gotta clean the fur around the eyes with cotton and warm water every day twice a day. Then the stain will lessen.

Yea, more-tamed now. Hahaz, I think he knows whats his name already. Whenever I call his name, he will look at me. Then, he loves to play hide-and-seek with me. Sometimes I pretend that I cant find him, then he quickly run to another spot and peek at me. Hahaz!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I think I know why he bite me already, maybe because he wanted to go to pee/poo but I insisted to play with him. So, nowadays I will bring him to pee/poo first before I play with him. So no more biting. Oh yea, he does barks at me at times, but not that serious anymore.

Sometimes, when I play with him in the garden, and i was like turn away for a while, he quickly run to me and lick my toes and quickly run back to where he was playing. I think he wants my attentions.

Owh yea, he buried the toy bone i bought for him behind a pot. Then, buried my sandal also. Hahaz, little naughty thief! Im going to steal his bone later~ laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yea, quite well. He is more obedient now, at least he will control his pee/poo times until he see me and thats when I will bring him out to eliminate. Normally, the first thing he does in the garden is to relieve himself. After that, he will roll on the grass, and dig some holes around. Oh ya, he loves to hide behind the pots and peek at me. laugh.gif laugh.gif And when i go near the pot, he will switch to another pot. tongue.gif

hey, maltese owner here.
she's about 6 months old now, pretty white coat, very active but quite and obedient at times.
as for tear stains, well, all maltese has it, and it is particular obvious when the puppy is teething, mine went through that stage, can notice a lot of tear stains during that time, now it is better already.
and the ear, the smell is really powerful if not cleaned frequently, the ears flop down so less ventilation, and thus the smell

Wow, nice to see another Maltese owner. Is ur Maltese well-trained already ? For example, housebreaking, those shake hands, sit, stand etc etc ? Mine only knows how to sit, but still when i walk he will run to me. Im not sure how to get him stay there yet.

err... mine not really well trained yet.
Housebreaking is partly there, she would normally pee on the newspaper i put for her. as for poo, well, not yet, but i think poo is easy to clear than pee.
she's very active, so it is pretty hard to get her to sit still when i'm around, unless i sit down then she would come and snuggle up. but luckily she learned about when she should bark and when she shouldn't pretty fast
she's a real glutton, always begging for side treats, and she has a smirk on her face when she does that. She would even lick her mouth to tell me that she wants what i'm eating. But have to be firm, not everything is good for her

Mine's even barks at me and can be a very playful at times. When I put him on the sofa with me, he will only stay still for like 5 minutes, after that he will start to explore the sofa although the space for him is so small. Then when he finished, he will try to go to the floor, and when he sees its too high for him to jump, he will started to bark at the ground. laugh.gif

Anyway, mine will control his poo until I bring him out to the garden, as for pee hmm, he normally pee whenever he wants so, I'll bring him out to the garden first before I play with him. Just to avoid him from peeing on me or anywhere he likes. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yea, they are very playful. brows.gif Today, when I put him on the sofa and trying to go and get my cell, he realised that Im not there with him and he jumped from the sofa and rushed to me. It's like he's afraid that I'll leave him alone or something. Cute though. sweat.gif

Anyway, a few command will be a great aid in taking care of dogs really. Mine only knows sit, so nowadays when he's doing something that he shouldnt, like biting the slippers or something, I'll say "No" and then "Sit". He will then sits there looking at me, but then, within a minute, he will continue with the bitings. laugh.gif

does it look like pimple? if it's just normal small red dots, i think no need to worry that much. If it's puss filled pimples, better bring to vet but actually a normal wipe on that portion and clean all the puss would be ok already

Anyone know where I can get female maltese? I know I can look for them in petshops but it is not like looking for a can of sardines. They only come in batches and most the time the shops don't 'stock' them. I want to get one for a friend.

Should try call MKA and get some numbers. My friend did that and he got a beautiful maltese for only RM1.5k and it came with cert also.... Or was it RM1.2k... can't remember.... but cheaper than a petshop that was selling RM2.5k and the health of the puppy was good, better than petshop.

Sorry.. I'm a car enthusiast but unfortunately don't know much about doggies. My friend is crazy about Maltese but she wants a female. Yeah.. pet store prices are crazy, even rundown looking stores are selling them for RM2.2K. I will see what I can do with MKA. Can I just call them up and ask them for breeder info? They'd just release it to me? Would it be better if I just pay them a visit in TTDI (found MKA website contact) and get the contacts from them? I always prefer face to face contact instead of just anonymously calling on the phone.

Thanks for the info.

You can try... face to face.... you won't get much. Coz MKA only will provide you the phone numbers. So far that's all I got from calling. Names and numbers. They don't do background research on the breeders. It would be better to get the numbers, call them and sort of have a phone interview with the breeders. Normally good breeders will love to talk to you about the breed, while puppy mills/breeders(those that breed many many breeds) will not talk much. Even if talk also, can find some lose ends.....

Try and find a breeder that only specialise in Maltese. That's the best.

I just brought Muika for the second injection, and yea no bath for a week. But this morning, when I open the door, he ran out to the garden when it was still raining. I wonder will he get affected like that ? Like sick or something ?

Maltese belongs to the "shy and afraid of stranger type"

or

"active and friendly" type?

My parent Mini Shaunzer is hyperactive -.-'''
I am thinking of getting a Maltese, but my fren's Maltese is SOOO afraid of stranger that it treat me as enemy... growling at me.. -.-

Hmm, I think Maltese is very friendly tho. Actually, its like.. when u let ur friends (who are strangers to him/her) go in ur house, they will growl at them. But when ur like, talking to ur friends, Maltese will know that they are ur friends and they will started to play with them. They're very active also, and of cos very friendly. My maltese let my friends hug him, carry him here and there.
