QUOTE(captainwifi @ Nov 18 2012, 11:54 AM) does this phone have any annoying manufacturer's bloatware/software that slows the phone and drags the battery? Nope. There's no bloatware in this phone. All the preinstalled apps are the common apps. U can check here: http://www.s-csl.my/index.php/csl-phones/s...h-mercury-mi501 QUOTE(captainwifi @ Nov 19 2012, 01:57 AM) No problem at all.. Smooth sailing bro..QUOTE(SiIverStar @ Nov 19 2012, 02:21 AM) Agree! plus with this phone u can combine the cheapest talk/sms telco with the cheapest data telco. Its highly recommended for ppl who really on budget. This post has been edited by syncomp: Nov 19 2012, 01:10 PM |

QUOTE(JJKTP @ Nov 20 2012, 08:51 PM) @Cranky Yerp. I have run both AnTuTu 3DRating Benchmark and Nenamark GPU test. It seems:Good to hear that. However I don't think the GPU in anywhere near S2. Any comment on that, bro? ![]() ![]() Its score 1238 for off-screen test. And compared to S2, its run 31.7 fps (32.8 fps by CSL Sabah - Youtube Benchmark) while S2 runs on 54.1 fps. These are the overall benchmark by Quadrant and AnTuTu ![]() ![]() Not bad aih?!! This post has been edited by syncomp: Nov 20 2012, 11:33 PM |

QUOTE(Cranky guy @ Nov 21 2012, 02:25 PM) Spectrum in Bandar Baru Ampang. I bought my phone from them too so I got the case for RM30. The case is like Ninetolgy Stealth Case, but the quality feels really top notch. Like my sister's Samsung S3's case. Plus, if you fold the flap over, it turns into a little stand. Bro.. It's cheap if RM30. Just now I went to Summit USJ branch. After several times travel around Klang Valley at last, the pouch that I have been waiting for. They took out the stock. Then I asked the price. They said RM 60! I was like........ Huh? I asked them twice still RM 60. Then I said to them, my friend bought it for RM30. I went to your HQ yesterday and they said the pouch is abt RM 39 as same as what in the CSL Facebook page stated. They keep saying can't be.. Can't be.. Duh~This post has been edited by syncomp: Nov 21 2012, 06:06 PM |

QUOTE(Cranky guy @ Nov 22 2012, 01:13 PM) The Battery is a 2150 mAh unit, stated to last you 7 hours of talk time. From user experience, one day and a half for me. On 3G when just i needed. Brightness was set to Auto. To be honest the battery is excellent though. It's using TFT screen + dual core processor. So of course its energy saving if compared to Amoled Screen or single core- One full charge can last for about 3/4 of the day on medium brightness, and moderate gaming and wifi., which is the average user. - When I use it heavily, playing games nonstop for hours with the wifi on and full brightness, it can last about 6-7 hours. - If is set the brightness to minimum and use it only to receive calls and wifi once in a while, it lasts me a few days. |

I think the most feature that I love the most on this phone is, It is dual sim. And it never experienced signal loss for BOTH line. I used HTC Sensation XE b4. Signal drop almost frequent. Demn frustrated! Thank god this phone is problem solving.
Added on November 23, 2012, 10:57 pm QUOTE(captainwifi @ Nov 23 2012, 10:45 PM) I found 1 problem with my mi501. I experienced earphone must be plugged in halfway in order for it to work. If I place it firmly it wont make sound thru earphone but by the phone speaker insteadwhen I connect a earphone to it. The sound comes out muffled. Like my earphone's diafragm is broken. but my earphone is fine when I pluck it to the pc. So must be the phone's earphone connection or something anyone else have this problem? QUOTE(captainwifi @ Nov 26 2012, 12:43 PM) strange fact. I plug the earphone that came with the mi501 in to my computer. It was strange. the dialogue was very soft and the background sound was normal. As if the earphone is suppose to be use in a sorround system. may be. I don't know much about sound system. Doesn't earpiece is standard for every of each? The same i try to plug in urBeats in the Mi501, its kinda not compatible. I am not plugged in the Mi501 earpiece yet but will confirmed later.but if you lookat the fact that normal earphone is screwy when plug into the mi501. but works normal when plug to the pc. and the mi501 earphone is screwy when plug to the pc and works normal when plug to the mi501. it means both mi501 and the mi501 earplug is using some kind of sorround system standards? I'm guessing. any thoughs? |

Guys, just an update to Earpiece issue.
I have done test using four of my earphones. 1. CSL OEM Earpiece (Comes in the package with this phone) ![]() 2. Samsung OEM Earpiece (Comes with Samsung mobile) ![]() 3. UrBeats by Dr. Dre (Comes with HTC Sensation XE) ![]() 4. Audio Technica ATH-CKP300 Sport Fit Earbuds ![]() With CSL Mi501 earphone, there would be no issue at all. Talking, listening to music, etc is just nice and it is functional. But of course the sound quality is just so-so. On the other hand for, Samsung and Urbeats Earphone, they failed to function although they are the same 3.5mm headphone jack. They have fast forward, play button and microphone for hands-free calling. For Audio Technica, which is a normal earphone (without buttons & microphone) is functioning without any problems. Its mean that for hands-free, you can only use the CSL earphone? For listening to music, I think there is no problem if you want to get a decent earphone later on. The issue here is just for a earpiece with hands-free functional And I am glad to share with all of you how to wrap your earphone without tangled up » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(myastro1974 @ Nov 27 2012, 09:50 AM) After looking at various phones, I think this is the right one for me especially the price is very attractive. Before I make the purchase, may I know your comment on the following few things: 1. Weight of the phone is abt the same as Ninetology Stealh.1. weight of the phone 2. the back cover surface, is smooth glossy plastic or anti slip rubber ? I don't like the red so I plan to spray it with black 3. where to find cheaper compatible battery ? RM80 from CSL for 1 battery is too expensive for me 2. Back cover surface is Red Matte Finish. I honestly don't like the colour too. But the problem solve if u buying a pouch for it rather than u spray the back cover. 3. The battery is RM50 value and u can get it from the official CSL webstore |

QUOTE(ValityMental @ Nov 27 2012, 12:12 PM) I see, will check it out. Since i'm in tight budget. But i heard some people said that CSL aren't good. Can anyone clarify this? Correct me if i'm wrong. If you still doubt why don't you go to the CSL Store to tested out. Then you will satisfy with whatever your decision later. Bear in mind, every phone has its own issue. My sis is using S2. Constant hang is common for S2, but ppl still buy it because it is Samsung. I previously using HTC Sensation XE. HTC is having issue of lagginess because of the heavy Sense UI they come with. Both phones are from well known established company, very popular, higher spec than Mi501 with dual core also. There are no such as perfect phone. Feel it yourself, think wisely, and you will never regret later on. Cheers! |
