fariq_azad, nice piece of bell-matic you got there. how old is that??
its either 1968 or 1978 but I'm guessing its the latter since its the 27 jewel version and not the early 17 jeweled ones.

Watch is older than me hehe sweat.gif and everything runs fine, the vibrate alarm is a novelty feature.

Best I like about the Bell-matics... Quickdate just by pushing the top button. Come 1st march but your watch still shows "29"!!! just push the button rclxm9.gif

Open it up and check if the battery has leaked. Could be just as simple as a battery change.

Btw.. guys... this worth it kar?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...doh.gif:eRTM:US:1123

Needs a bezel or at least bezel insert change and at worst a crystal change too.

Hmm bezel looks a bit scary...sweat.gif

What's the difference between 7s25/36 and 4r36? If 4r36 is a newer movement, shouldn't it be better? It seems like you guys are appreciating the old movement more. Sentimental value? lol
*
The 4R36 is "better" in terms of features with the addition of hack and hand wind.

The 7s26 is the "proven" movement and longest running best seller from seiko?

Would not normally go for a Seiko 5 but I couldn't resist grabbing this

- Steel Tuna like Bezel cover (unlike plastic ones on the new 4R36 tuna's)
- Large Size 44mm
- Full Dial Lume rclxm9.gif

Introducing my "poor mans" Seiko Tuna

Everyone needs a Seiko 5 at one point of anotherĀ  laugh.gif

Don''t understand why they use the rubber/plastic shrouds these days also.

Congrats on the new addition. For us noobs, maybe you can elaborate more about that piece.
*
The movement is the 7S36. 22mm lugs with folded end links and solid links and a double lock signed seiko clasp.
It also has a flat mineral crystal, see through back.
The bezel is unidirectional with 120 clicks.

What I liked about the watch in paticular is :
- The steel shroud tuna design
- The entire dial is lumed
- embossed "Seiko" "5" shield and metallic day/date window
- metallic second hand

What this watch is lacking :
- Non Screw-in crown
- only 100m water resist
- No lume on the hands ( a blue lume would have been nice to contrast the green lume of the dial)
- Numbers on the bezel used to be black, now all gone

Bought the watch for two reasons : never had a watch with shrouded bezel design, first fully lumed dial watch smile.gif

Here is a picture of the lume.

Holycrap entire lumed dial, what about the hour and minute hand? Do they have lume too? The numbers on the bezel, I guess you could color them back with sharpie or marker pen?
*
hands all dont have lume. yup currently looking for a sharpie to do the colouring project. just wondering if dark green would be nice instead of the stock black for bezel numbers

@sniper... lumed dial is in no way suitable for a sniper in the forest. Immediately would give away sniper position if at nite hehehe

Spent an hour at Pertama Complex...

Spotted :

- 7s26 Monsters black and orange on bracelet and rubber, SKX007 on Jubilee and SKX009 on Rubber
- 7s36 Black and White stargate, Silver Starfish with black bezel
- 4R15 100m Spork
- Seiko Sawtooth black
- Orient Sub NOS

Theres one 40th Aniversary Seiko 5 Titanium Diver 7s36 but shop is asking too high for it sweat.gif

This concludes my report smile.gif

Didn't get any watches (thank god sweat.gif) but grabbed a seiko oyster bracelet for my vintage Bellmatic

Attached Image

Now the watch looks like new rclxm9.gif
