Luna Sea anyone?

One of the earlier Jrock bands from the 90s who have inspired many other Japanese bands. They're still around and rocking hard. In fact they will be performing in Singapore this February.

In conjunction with this the Malaysian fans have organized an tribute concert which will be held this 19th of January, do come and join us if you like Luna Sea. More details on the event here.

I present to you the most underrated Japanese Band ever internationally.
At least not in Japan, everytime their new single is out, it will always sat on the oricon chart.
Their songs also have been used many times as theme songs for movies, dramas even game. Maybe they dont like to be exposed internationally.
Their songs is mainly slow rock type, and mainly use lower tune.

Yeah I used to be a fan of Bump Of Chicken back then but kinda lost track for the past seven years and haven't really been hearing much about them anymore. They were huge in 2004 when their Yggdrasil album was out.

AKFG's new single Ima wo Ikite is not bad imo. But I prefer the B-side, Kemono no Kemono. It's got this unique vibe to it and piano! Something different and refreshing from the band.

And this is probably my first post ever on AKB48 music. Not a fan but I have favorite member lol. Anyways, So Long! is pretty good. Generic and typical akb song but I like the melody.

No other major release that attracts me atm. A bit dull these days. The same goes with Jdramas this season.

Yeah coz I was trying to save money you see...and just got around to get it last weekend. By the way, they performed sense of life for the first time! I really want the live version in MP3 so desperately cry.gif

Oh is it Jinsei Kakete? I got it from jmp3 and had a listen yesterday. It's pretty good, their slower songs especially. They seem to sing a lot in English this time though. Just not enough to make me buy it hehe...

You ordered from?

since we're all of a sudden talking bout akb, mine is Miyazawa Sae. Just too bad she's transferred to snh, but still pretty active in main akb activities. By the way, here's the song they released for free, in the effort for disaster relief. Charity song. Reminds me of Japanese folk.

wanna recommend some songs recently in my playlist, not sure if anyone's heard of this singer, nano. She's born in New York and moved to Japan drg middle school (from what I read), so she's fluent in both languages. She began her career with covering vocaloid songs before releasing her own music. Her alto-vocal range is pretty good, for the genre she's singing, rock mostly. Recently, she sang the opening theme for BTOOOM anime.

Just Be Friends

Omoide Kakera

MONKEY MAJIK
If

MiChi - just discovered her last year, and really like her songs. The melodies are infectious.
PROMISE - the song that got me into her music
can't find any vid for this, too bad

motto - love the lyrics

and about kojiharu, her spacing out episodes and silliness are probably one of the reasons I like watching her in shows lolzz... sweat.gif

Being a skeptic I would say it's just her image but she does look blur all the time. She would just say something silly and it would look completely natural LOL

Before knowing much about AKB I thought Kojiharu was maybe ojousama-kei instead. lol

the artwork in black and white looks great biggrin.gif

Btw, singer-songwriter MiChi changed from Ameblo to her own official website and released a short PV for her new single, set to release next month on the 24th. Pretty fast considering she took almost 2 years for her previous album to come out. So this is good. Just discovered her last year and her songs are mostly very positive. Cheers me up whenever I'm down.

MiChiness

sounds pretty good. PV looks amazing too.

I'm always a fans of anime singers. I also like a Japanese alternative rock band, NOODLES that perform undie music.

Recently, I've been attracted by a Japanese pop singer-song writer named Miliyah Kato. Fall in love to her voice when I first heard her song on youtube and urged me to search for her albums. Recommend songs like "Why", "Aiaiai". "LAlala"...and a lot more. XD

Today, AKB48's 31st single, Sayonara Crawl is released and accord. to Nikkan Sports, total of 2.3 million copies are shipped out today. It surpassed Manatsu Sounds Good (2 million) last year. I don't really care for the song to be honest, but I bought 3 copies anyways (theater edition, coz they're cheaper), just to vote for my fav member. This single comes with voting codes for the 32nd Single Election, voting period 2 weeks from today.

Just some pics to show the crazy fandom in Japan:

I only got the theater edition through this Stage48 forum moderator in Japan (as theater edition only sold in Japan). Still waiting for him to PM me the codes. Gonna take a while too because he needs to open 922 copies tongue.gif I can't imagine having almost 1000 copies lying in the house.

Went to a local store just now, hoping to see it on the shelf but none. As expected, it won't be here fast enough. But no worries, 1 more week plus to vote. This is the first time I'm voting, kinda excited as I only join the fandom (or rather a fan of a few members only and not the whole AKB), about 6 months ago.

Actress Gouriki Ayame makes a singing debut with single "Tomodachi Yori Daijina Hito".

how do you embed a dailymotion video here btw?
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x10w0fz_%...on#.Ub57e5z9Ufg

doesn't sound bad and her dancing impressed me coz well, never knew she has it in her since I only know she acts. I think it's interesting to see where she'll go from here. thinking of getting this single. But from yesasia or cdjapan? Hmmm

EDIT:
Finally placed order on Do As Infinity's 13th Anniversary DVD at CDJapan. cost me RM160++, placed it together with Gouriki's debut single. Been waiting for HK version of the DVD but I don't think they made one, so got the Japan version instead.

Just found out Namie's gonna release FEEL this July 10th. bit late to the news but the album arts are stunning.

user posted image

actually the album cover for CD+DVD above is wrong, it's actually the Blu-Ray type where she covers her mouth...reminds you of anything? Yea, it's the See No Evil, Speak no Evil and Hear no Evil nod.gif

Tempted to get the album ahh but the price sweat.gif Wanted the CD+DVD (RM122+ at CdJapan, not including shipping yet, if include will come up to RM153) while yesasia offers RM131.80 with free shipping. Well obviously yesasia is cheaper in this case.

Think I'll just be patient and wait for HK version tongue.gif

BEHOLD Namie Amuro's new album , FEEL...can't believe it's her 11th studio album already. Anyways, it was leaked. Like 3 days before official release.

It's such a dance-influenced album, RnB/hip-hop is almost non-existant this time. Not particularly a bad thing, but I miss her RnB/hip-pop songs which was the main reason why I like her songs. But this album...I can see it being geared to non-J-pop fans, or anybody who has not heard her music before. And just wanna say, 90% of the songs were sung in English. She's improved quite a lot.

these are few songs I like. I wonder how long this will last before it being taken down.

Heaven

Stardust in my Eyes

I'm not a huge fan of dance tunes but this is really something different from her. thumbup.gif

From the international forum, popjustice, everybody's going mad crazy in love with this album. It's an album that needs time to grow on me, so after few listens now, I'm liking it more and more. cool.gif

Umm....so I just realized that I have another 3 times more to change my DVD player region before it gets locked to the last region I changed it to.
cry.gif

So I'm having a dilemme which region to lock it to Region 3 or Region 2?
Most of the DVDs I bought before are region 3 (coz cheaper and I can afford), but then I started buying Region 2 when no region 3 is available for certain concerts. hmm.gif I wonder if there's any way we can make our players region-free?? Anyone has this kind of experience before?

If not, then I'm gonna lock it to region 2. At least I can still watch region 2 dvds, and region 3 when I go bk home using home player. sweat.gif

Guys,

Back in 2008/2009, there is a MV I watch in Animax, A Japanese, probably mixed Japanese female singer with black spectacle, playing piano.

I am totally no clue what song she sang, but I remembered I loved that song very much.

Anyone has a clue what song it is ? And who she is ?

Yeah I also think it should be Angela Aki, as for the song, it might be This Love (theme song for Blood+) which is a great anime btw. But maybe you should youtube her to find the exact song you heard.

Parents came for a visit and brought my jpop orders. I only got time to have a closer look at Namie Amuro's though. Love the digipak.

Overall, very satisfied with the packaging, can't wait to watch the PVs and listen to the CD itself.

I got Do As Infinity's latest 13th anniversary DVD as well. Will post more pics once I have time.

Am watching Namie Amuro's 5 major Domes tour now...loving it~ discovered several songs I never heard of. I still find it hard to believe that she's already 20 years into the music industry and being 35 years old, she's a mother to a 15 year old son. Still looks so young.

Can't wait to watch DAI's 13th Anniversary tour too! biggrin.gif

Sure! RM5 per day for rent~ Kidding! tongue.gif

But DAI's 13th Anniversary is worth it...they performed Enrai after so many years. thumbup.gif

As for news, I'm awaiting MiChi's third album, coming out in October. Here's one of the songs from her double A-side single (release 4th September).

It's been a while since she released a full English track.
Definitely pre-ordering her new album. I missed out on Therapy before and that album was amazing. When I have more budget, I'll get Therapy nod.gif

And I discovered a pretty good band, androp. They've been around for quite a while, but I only found out thanks to the current drama, Woman. This is a great anthem song!
Turn up that volume!

Aimer's new song, 眠りの森 (Nemuri no Mori) is pretty good too. I think it's only released as digital single though.

I planned to get this at first since my oshi, Sae got into top 10 (and this would be the first election single I've ever voted) but I decided to put that budget into other Jpop albums instead. Team B edition looks tempting, with both Mariko and Tomochin's grad videos but ahhh...just not now. My budget will go to getting other DAI's stuffs instead. Yesasia is having Summer Sales going as well, I ordered Gingham Check and going to get UZA with So Long! (both Team K edition).

Gotta save some $ for MiChi's upcoming album too. sweat.gif

oh btw! Whose photo did you manage to get???

Hahaha. Yeah. I bought all 3 editions. This year's election is also the first election that I voted. I myself voted for Mayuyu, Rena and Saya-nee. Anyway, I haven't even pop in the DVDs yet. Maybe this evening after I come back from work. Oh? YesAsia doing Summer Sales? No.. I better not check it out. I worry for my wallet. laugh.gif As for the photos, scored Mariko's photo for Type A (I'm dancing!! rclxm9.gif ), Yukirin's for Type K (woot!!) and Kawaei Rina for Type B. Ohhh.. and also 3 of the same Takamina & Sashiko photo as seen in the picture as a preorder bonus from CDJapan.

SCANDAL is releasing another single OVERDRIVE (producer Nakata) who works with Perfume. However, the song doesn't sound like Perfume-ish of course lol but the B-side SCANDAL IN THE HOUSE might...

Here's preview for OVERDRIVE. I'm liking it. It's got an easy-going tune, I think I'm gonna order this, despite it not having a real Scandal photo cover.

None of the songs will sound Perfume-ish because this is the first time he's producing band sounds instead of the usual electronic stuffs.

None of the songs will sound Perfume-ish because this is the first time he's producing band sounds instead of the usual electronic stuffs.

well, thank god for that nod.gif

Actually, Overdrive reminds me of western pop/punk genre, the tunes. Similar like music from The Maine.

My order from Yesasia came today. AKB stuffs. Summer sales so I saved about RM40 in total for both. These mark my first AKB purchase, still new to the fandom but I'd like to collect a few of my favorite songs by them. Still looking for Beginner.
Long post ahead.

i like some of hers songs namely The Bird Without Wings and Force. pop/rock driven. Her previous album is not bad.

Mika Nakashima's latest single Boku ga Shinou to Omotto no wa (The Reason I Thought I Would Die) is very good! thumbup.gif Although it's a ballad, which is her forte afterall, and sad. But it's so touching!

The coupling b-side Today, is upbeat and nice too.

video at jpopasia
The PV is unique too and she looks great. Still getting used to her blonde hair though.

Mehhh I hate it when they block videos on youtube for certain countries.

Nice! It's so cool to see fellow AKB48 fan here in Malaysia. laugh.gif I'm contemplating to buy Not Yet's new single ヒリヒリの花 (Hiri Hiri no Hana) scheduled for release on 25/9/2013. It's been 1 year and 4 months I think since they last released a single. So kinda looking forward for their latest single.

That total amount in your cart.... thumbup.gif Hehe I just started in the fandom about 8 months ago. AKBingo made me research the group more. They're funny. But i get you, it's so hard to find a fellow jpop fan here, not only akb. I can only share my happiness and fandom on international forums. sad.gif
well if you're a fan of No3 why not? As for me, I usually see if I like the single or not (from previews or leaked versions) then only I'll consider buying singles. Because usually I don't get singles. But it'll more tempting if the unit has my oshi member. tongue.gif (which is not happening atm becoz Sae's not even AKB anymore, and she can't perform with SNH48 because of stupid visa problem). There's new single coming out soon for AKB48, but not sure Sae will still be in the senbatsu team or not wink.gif

Since I spent bit too much this month, won't be getting anything for a while till October for SCANDAL's new album, Standard and Michi's. Both released on same day, yatta! But then contemplating on Yesasia or CDjapan.
Pros for yesasia: Free delivery over $25. Which applies for my order.
Cons: no bonuses like posters wink.gif Packaging is just bubble wraps (3 layers though) it gets the job done.
Pros for Cdjapan: They come with External bonuses for first press - posters and packaging nicer (cardboard boxes and rolled posters)
Cons: Delivery costs higher!

Where do you usually get your jpop stuffs?

After a week, those items are still in my cart geddemmit! sad.gif AKBINGO! is my gateway drug into this fandom too. Specifically the Shoujiki Shougi section of the program. God I love those so much. I'm still watching AKBINGO! every week nowadays, along with SKE Sekai Seifuku Joshi S2 and some other of the group's previous variety programs. And yeah, there's a new AKB single coming out in October. I read that it will be a 'cool' single ala UZA. That realllllly made me contemplate to get the Not Yet single laugh.gif. Can't afford to spend on both months. I've been getting All 3 Sayonara Crawl, and then all 3 KFCs, apart from their documentary BluRay sometime ago in April. I'll be damn broke (Well... that's exaggerating a little bit, sweat.gif but you get the point.) if I proceed with both Not Yet's Hiri Hiri no Hana Type A,B,C,D and AKB's upcoming 33rd single Type A,K,B and maybe 4? The singles coupled with FedEx for 3 months straight doesn't bode well for my wallet, not to mention the higher exchange rate nowadays!

Anyway, I have been getting my JPop stuffs exclusively from CDJapan because of the preorder bonus. I have never tried YesAsia although I have an account there. I think I never did register my card in there, only have my bare account.

Well, I'm not that huge of a fan for AKB48 (I only have 1 or 2 fav members and to be honest, I'm not really into their songs as well (for the most part because I'm not into idol-ish type of songs) however, I like cool singles - UZA, Beginner etc...and something more edgier or catchy. So I'm not up to the level of buying every song they put out and every single type yet LOL I seriously won't be able to keep up with that. sweat.gif shakehead.gif You must be a very hardcore fan to get all the types xD But if you only collect AKB48 stuffs and not any other Jpop artists, then that's okay I guess. At least, you can focus on AKB alone. smile.gif

I have quite a lot of artists that I like in Jpop realm. My No.1 will always be Do As Infinity, and the rest like Namie Amuro, SCANDAL, MiChi, MONKEY MAJIK, Asian Kung-Fu Generation etc...so I only spend on albums that I really like. Previously, I only collect DAI stuffs, this year onwards though, I expanded my collection and began getting Namie stuffs and others.

I like CDJ too because of their sturdy packaging and it makes them look more exclusive, and of course, the posters! But it's the delivery cost that kind of makes me wanna go back to Yesasia. Unless if it's my absolute favorite artist like DAI, then I will prob order from them again for the first press bonuses. thumbup.gif

So onto some recent news:

I just heard JASMINE's new album, Complexxx. It's pretty good.

JASMINE - Realize (soundcloud)
JASMINE - I'll Be There (soundcloud)

HERO PV

Watch it before it gets blocked again lol, Sony is such an anti-world.

MiChi's new single out today! I preordered tongue.gif last minute decision alongside her previous album, Therapy which I've been meaning to get.

Yesterday I was browsing Youtube and came across MAN WITH A MISSION, a Japanese alternative rock band. They've been around for quite a while, I just tried their music yesterday. Not bad. Their latest album, Mash Up The World is pretty good for me.

I think their wolf masks...are very intriguing.

This is the last track from that album, colours. All English lyrics, idk but it's nice. Went ahead and made a lyrics vid coz I can't find any.

Another band that made it into my list of lookout for now is [Champagne], another Jrock band. Their songs are mixed with English and the lead singer's fluent.

Travel (all english lyrics)

SCANDAL's album leaked yesterday or two days ago not sure. But aside from the singles, most of the songs are great - Brand New Day, Weather Report (new favorite song). Overall, it's less rock but still very Scandal-ish. They seem to experiment some new sounds too and the instrumentals are more complex this time. Some sick guitar riffs too in some songs.

Both MiChi and Scandal's albums were shipped out yesterday, hope can get them by this week.

Listening to Perfume's Level 3 halfway through, still not feeling the album, Idk...maybe I'm not really into this electronic style anymore.

I can't believe I stayed up past midnight till about 2am just to wait for MiChi's album. Her album didn't leak lol and it was after up on iTunes, they're available. The wait though was worth it! This new album is great, loving it so much!

Short review:

Aside from the singles, there are overall 8 new songs altogether including an introduction Madness Vol.4. There isn't any track that I dislike or didn't care for like I did in Therapy so in that sense, this album is better than Therapy. But seems like she's focusing more on pop/rock instead of dance electropop although her music still infused with electronic elements, that's her style and I'm not complaining.

From the 7 new songs (not includ. intro track), I'm really loving Just because, Hello and Nearly Maybe...You can have a try below.

Just because
https://soundcloud.com/shireley-yeo/just-because

Nearly Maybe
https://soundcloud.com/shireley-yeo/nearly-maybe

Hello
https://soundcloud.com/shireley-yeo/michi-hello

Lighten the Fxxk Up (all English song)
https://soundcloud.com/shireley-yeo/lighten-the-fxxk-up

Overall, I hope this album sells well and she gets the recognition she so deserves. Sony just doesn't know how to promote their artists, a talented one like MiChi, quite a waste really. Because I feel some of her songs can totally rival those Western music even, if promoted well.

coz I'm not staying in my hometown atm and I never tried CDJapan's shipping here. Don't trust the postal service in my area so I didn't dare to, plus I'm not familiar with the post offices here (in case if they fail to deliver and asks me to go take myself). I took the risk with Yesasia before and it worked fine hence I get it from them. CDJ is slightly more expensive though + shipping. So if I ordered from CDJ, I usually ship it back to my hometown, which is what I did with my MiChi album (waiting for sis to bring it over in mid-oct).

yup need people to stay at home and wait for the CD. luckily my fren is a freelancer so usually ask him to order , usually we bulk order (share shipping cost ) coz we have the same interest then i just meet up or go take at his house . very convinient . altough he say nowdays some shit happen where we need to pay more (GOV tax). especially if buy DVD, cd song is ok but concert DVD got extra taxing somemore for each keping of DVD.

So far, I'm lucky but I think there's a certain amount as limit before getting taxed? My last purchase with CDJ amounted to about RM260. Luckily no tax. You're lucky to have friends who has same interest, I don't have any around me at the moment. I also realized that Yesasia is smart enough to lie about the cost of the item - they put US$3 on the form for my SCANDAL album lol biggrin.gif That's what they do to avoid custom problems.

Leo Ieiri - Taiyou no Megami (new single)

I like the B-side more actually than this song.

Perfume - Sweet Refrain (theme song for Toshi Densetsu no Onna 2) Great PV.

Kyary Pamyu Pmayu - Mottai Nightland

Cute song.

Discovered this band last night, female duo-band Harukatomiyuki or ハルカトミユキ. They just released their debut major album on Nov 6th and I'm liking their music atm. Refreshing yet nostalgic. They sing mostly soft rock, some mid-tempo too.

This video left a deep impression in me so depressing yet I can't stop listening to the song, it's addictive. Also, Haruka really sounds like YUI in here.

I gave the album a try and it's pretty solid, considering it's their first major album, I'm impressed. I like their style and Haruka's vocal is nice to listen to.

I expect many more great things from this band in the future thumbup.gif

^ Sayonara Crawl isn't my favorite single from them, I'm still waiting for kakkoi single like UZA, too bad they didn't have one this year. please Aki-P make one next year.

As for Kouhaku, I'll only watch certain artists' performances. I'm disappointed Momusu didn't get invited because I think they deserve it, they had a good year. Climbing back to the spotlight. But oh well, there's always next year. The girls just gotta strive harder. I'm actually impressed with the new gen members so far because the dance formation routines have gotten very complex since the past year but they still manage to perform well. not to mention, sing live too. I respect them for singing live even with those intense dance.

Anyways, my loot for December.

So I'm in the Morning Musume phase at the moment, I never cared for their music before, I watch their shows because they're funny. But now I actually like the recent style a lot. I like that they're moving away from the typical idol image and go for something cooler.

What is LOVE? one of the songs in the Triple A-side single set for release on Jan 29th next year

This song is kinda old but it's growing a lot for me recently.

I think this live truly challenged their stamina, continuous performance song after song and it was during summer. Great effort though.

The medley was quite good, especially the transition from Help Me!! to One Two Three.

Lastly, this is a preview of the prank by Mezamashi TV. It's really funny. They were tricked into staying overnight somewhere (they probably were told it was for a job), then the fake makeshift room they slept in were pulled apart early morning, in front of 500 fans. They had to perform Love Machine in their pajamas and glasses. thumbup.gif

[Champagne]'s new single, Run Away is good. I really like the video - must be collaboration with Nike.

Oblivion (feat. LITHIUM HOMME)

If you're looking for some indie rock, i think the music from this band, Kinoko Teikoku is quite nice.

Umi to Hanataba (sea and bouquet)

Paranoid Parade

I found them when I discovered Haruka to Miyuki. Their music is quite different from each other though.

my prediction came true, White Team won, though it was a random pick despite me not knowing almost 60% of the artists in White. Feeling bit meh about Kouhaku. and what a timing to announce graduation, Yuko! I bet she's happy to be freed from the chains of AKB finally. There's nothing left in the group for her to achieve.

With the exception of Linked Horizon, all the artists that I liked were in aka including mixed gender bands (DCT & Ikimonogakari) But if I was a judge, I would pick shiro. Also nice to see the cast from Amachan there too. And Ishikawa Sayuri's voice is as heavenly as ever.

With Acchan and Yuko gone, AKB will probably go down the same path as MoMusu.

haha most of my favorite bands almost never appear in Kouhaku so I don't watch it except for a minor few artists' afterwards. But this year none actually caught my attention.

Actually it'd be nice to see all the 1st and 2nd gens gone by end of year 2014. That way, we can judge whether the new ones can actually maintain AKB's popularity. They most prob will go down like Momusu.

Interestingly though, Momusu is gaining media buzz recently and the new gens are actually working really hard to climb back up. Their sales nowadays are so much better than Platinum Era. It's good to see that, it's like watching the new gens starting from scratch to build up their era.

Whereas in AKB atm - I somehow feel that the new gens are feeding off from the already popular group instead of actually working their a** off like their seniors back in the days. Which is why I'd like to see the day when ALL older members gone.

Sakanaction's new song, EUREKA is pretty good.

Continuing with the topic of AKB, Kojima Haruna is 25 and will likely graduate this year. Most of the other popular members now are in the 19-22 age range. So there is still hope, for now. Once these members graduate, their only hope will be Matsui Jurina. On the contrary, if Michishige Sayumi graduates from MM (or MM14?) I think the junior members will still be able to do well.

^ I just watched that nasi lemak feature in MJ. It's great that the girls have heard of sth similar in Indonesia and got the correct answer. Also, I'm glad they like the taste. Although Sayumi might not be too fond of the spiciness. Then again, most Japanese are bad with spicy stuffs.

^ J-Min's music sounds great! Will dig the album. I like that her English is perfect and pop/rock's my taste, only thing is, it sounds a bit too Western-ish and I feel like I'm listening to English pop/rock sung in Japanese laugh.gif

SCANDAL - Runner's High (split single with T.M. Revolution)

AKB48 - Mae Shika Mukanee (PV)
To be honest, I'm disappointed with this video. So simple and looks cheap. The group sells millions and you'd think the management will at least spend a fraction of those $$ for a nicer video to send off one of their most famous members. Yuko herself probably didn't mind it since 'grand scale' of videos doesn't fit her image but really? the least they can do is to find a better setting, do it outdoors or something, rather than an underground dungeon.

MM 14' - Kimi no Kawari Iyashinai (live at CLUB CITTA)
This performance was quite good, they were very energetic too. Watching lives like these make me feel like the new gens (9,10,11) have come a long way. I seriously never thought they'd mature this much and able to deliver. I lost interest when 9th gen came in all the way till last year after I saw the Mezamashi Live, I was surprised.

Stereo Dive Foundation - Axis - looking forward this group's album. Sounds promising judging from what they've released so far.

Every Little Thing - START - nice to finally have a new album from this group.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation - The Recording NHK
Wow I miss this band! They haven't released anything new for very long. Hope there'll be new materials this year.

Random series for the day!

C'ute - Kokoro no sakebi o uta ni shite mita

Why can't Morning Musume's videos be something similar? I mean, they're all under the same Hello! Project and production company. Plus, MM's sales are generally the highest too in H!P but their videos are underwhelming - almost always them dancing indoors and greenscreen in the background. I think they should do something outdoors for a bit and leave the dance formation to the dance shot version wink.gif

This is so random I don't know why this was even released but I guess it can bring back some nostalgic songs from Ayu's past.

Sayashi Riho (Morning Musume) - Kimagure Zetsubou Arigatou (from Stacy's Re:Killing musical theater)
I first heard this from the musical play itself (which took me by surprise, never knew MM would be involved in a dark depressing play like this). It's really nice though, I like the music, it's so different from what MM is known for (I mean, idol songs are mostly cheerful right?) So it's fresh to hear them sing darker songs once in a while. Anyways, the studio version of this track was released recently.

Miliyah Kato's new album - LOVELAND is quite good. If you're into R&B, mellow and mid-tempo, ballads and a tinge of EDM, give it a try. I feel her vocal has this calming effect that fits this type of style.

A question to those who orders through CDJAPAN.

If I choose EMS, which courier service will they use when it arrives in Malaysia?

Poslaju or others?

Usually I order from Yesasia for free shipping but they recently changed to postal instead of courier so instead of the usual 5 days maximum for me to receive my items, it has been 10 days now and I haven't received it. They said 7-14 days. So I have to wait.

Yea, Yesasia doesn't offer posters as bonus like CDJapan. I think if Yesasia choose to use postal from now on, I'll just go with CDJ although most times, it's more expensive (postage fee) compared to Yesasia. But the external bonuses like stickers and posters make up for it biggrin.gif

When you receive your items, can you please let me know which courier they use for reference?
Thanks.

cdjapan is ok fedex is even faster than ems
but dono why their fedex jz didnt declare the shipping cost in any documents attached to the parcel which will cause us kena tax
my order from ems passed safe but maybe due to just rm1xx so even add on shipping assumption of rm322 still didnt exceed

now using amazon which usually hav some discounts over cdjapan and they ship by dhl which reaches by 3-4 days
they declared shipping in the document which help us avoid from kastam high shipping cost assumption
only drawback so far i faced is that they dont make call to u if u are not at home during first delivery..but i requested them to redeliver on the same day afternoon twice sweat.gif luckily they agree and did too

Namie Amuro - Four Seasons PV short version
FULL version : http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Namie-Amuro--...0a707d0fa944e80

Himawari (short)

After releasing their first major album, Cyanotype last year November, Haruka to Miyuki continues with an EP set to be released on May 28th. The long title returns...

Sonna Koto Dodatte Ii, Kono Uta wo Kimi ga Sukidato Itte Kuretara (mini album)

01. その日がきたら
02. 赤くぬれ
03. かたくてやわらかい
04. 385
05. 青い夜更け

The PV for Sono Hi ga Kitara is out in full. Ballad this time. The more I listen, the more I'm addicted to it. Ahhh....this band has yet to disappoint me with their mellow rock.

also, I've decided not to order from Yesasia anymore in the future. My package is still not here after 14 working days, not sure where it is atm... sweat.gif

I'm getting my Jpop stuffs from Cdjapan from now on, even the EMS doesn't cost too much. At least, I have tracking number and it won't take more than a week to arrive.

^ Sounds nice but even Soundhound wasn't able to identify the song. I hope someone else will be able to tell us the title and singer.

Sharing some music I recently found.
This one's from quite an old band named Tsubaki - Yofuke no Senritsu

[Alexandros] - Droshky!

Aimer - StarRingChild (Gundam Unicorn theme song)
This is a really good song, love it. There's a movie version too which is shorter but I actually like that more.

Alice no Toge (ongoing drama this season)'s theme song - Taiyou to Hana by Takahashi Yu

Would like to share Haruka to Miyuki's 3rd EP (mini album) - Sonna Koto Dodatte Ii, Kono Uta wo Kimi ga Sukidato Itte Kuretara.

If you haven't listened to their music before, I'd recommend their first major album - Cyanotype. Really good thumbup.gif
Their musical style is mostly pop/rock fused with folk, acoustic, tinge of punk, mellow rock and infectious guitar riffs cool.gif

After Cyanotype, they just released an EP on 28th May, this week. So here are the 5 songs.

Update of new releases this week!

Passepied will be releasing new album next week. Loving their sound so far. The lead vocals might need time to get used to but once you get over it, their music is not bad. It's like Ayumi's nassal vocals, an acquired taste.

You know she also just recently released a StarRingChild EP consisting of two other songs aside "StarRingChild" that are great to listen too!

Well, these I did NOT buy myself, I got from another AWESOME Sharing site tehehe biggrin.gif But thought might as well share with all/(any?) Aimer fans here:

I love it when idols shed off their cute image and venture into something totally different. Morning Musume '14 and S/mileage are currently involved in this musical called LILIUM~ Shoujo Junketsu Kageki. They're supposed to be vampires.

I like the dark tone and ambient of this musical, some of them are really epic! blink.gif

Anyways, give some a try. You can listen to the full soundtrack below.

Some of my favs:

The lyrics for this song is actually quite heartbreaking.

I suppose this surprised me the most, Tamura Meimi (age 15) from S/mileage. Never thought she could sing like that.

Interesting. They fooled me into thinking it'd be a scary halloween rock song or sth...and it turned out to be a feel-good summer track.

Listened to Passepied's Makunouchi ISM album last night, quite like it. So just wanna recommend this to anyone who likes pop/rock, fused with synths.

Apparently, they never show their face aside from during live performances.

user posted image

Just one warning. The vocalist has a very distinct high-pitched voice, anime-like, so if you can't stand those type of vocals, this might not be your cup of tea. I was not fond at first too but after a while, I got used to it, just like how I got used to Ayumi Hamasaki's nasal voice.
That aside, their music is pretty fun to listen to!

Hahahaha I really am starting to see that you like strong beats in a song!! biggrin.gif

Re: I Am for me was just okay (No OFFENSE! just a personal opinion biggrin.gif ) I mean the starting of it was powerful and energetic (LOVED the starting chorus!!!) but (imho) the music blanded out throughout the rest of the song tongue.gif So it isn't in my list of constant replays teehee~~ Since I like her slower ballad songs...I think her voice is more suitable for slow but powerful songs...

Off the whole track, I loved these tracks best:

Track #2: Sleeping Forest
Track #3: Wings of July
Track #7: Melody of a Little Star
Track #12: Iris

Track #6: AM03:00 and Track #11 have quite catchy beats (Very similar to Utada Hikaru's style of music!!) I find myself listening to once or twice again every now and then biggrin.gif

OMG You should listen to her English ver. of StarRingChild in the new album "UnChild" released alongside Midnight Sun..It is efin EPIC.

I have a soft spot for pop/rock influence songs xDD I like the ending part of the song, idk why biggrin.gif Sounds very liberating.
I have that UnChild too, some of the english are kind of hard to listen to but I appreciate the effort. I think I prefer original Japanese lyrics for some songs unless the singers have fluent english (MiChi, Monkey Majik etc)

Yes I agree I get where you're coming from True and I sort of really had hoped they left "Because We Are Tiny In This World" as an instrumental original because i thot the music was really nice in the beginning!! True, it was good with Aimer in it giving it a more uplifting feels to the song, but I would've LOVED just hearing the instrumentals ver. of it only biggrin.gif

Oh well, back to SUMMMMMMER MODE!!!!

I know this one is kinda oldie, but DAMN I STILL LOVE LISTENING TO THIS WHEN SUMMER IS HERE!!! rclxm9.gif

Ok, I think I’m gonna do this in a more organized way. Will try my best to post new releases every week from now on.

This week’s update 7/2/14

user posted image

Some big titles namely Ayumi Hamasaki, miwa, Itano Tomomi’s debut, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, moumoon and Kimura Kaela’s compilation albums.
I haven’t had the chance to listen to Ayu’s album in full (heard most of the leaks before this but not with the flow yet so I will reserve my opinion until I hear it in order). From the list so far, I’m liking Up Up Girls’ single. They’ve been under my radar for a while but not like how I follow Morning Musume ’14. This single is surprisingly good. Even I wish MM ’14 or Tsunku will incorporate this kind of EDM in some of MM’s songs.

Another release that deserves attention is Shishido Kavka’s Dame Kashira? It’s a digital single so there’s no B-side or whatnot. However, this is a pretty solid song. I love how she fused pop/rock and make it into such a lively summer-ish pop jam.
https://soundcloud.com/shireley-yeo/shishido-kavka

Miwa’s single is okay. It’s obviously made for summer but it feels lacking. The B-side, Let me Go however is slightly better. I appreciate the orchestra instrumental version of the A-side too. Funny how I like it more than the actual song.

Wasn’t planning on listening to Itano Tomomi’s debut but I heard it’s pretty interesting so I’ll give it a shot. Kyary’s album leaked a week earlier btw. Will listen to it tonight.

As for the compilation albums, I’ve only heard AKFG’s Nano Mugen. I like Flower by Lostage (will dig this band up), Owl City’s Beautifultimes and several more. On the contrary, I felt AKFG’s own song, Standard isn’t as good as their previous songs. Here’s to hoping they’ll release a new album soon.

Introducing another female pop/rock artist - Yasuha Kominami. She started out as an indie artist in 2010. She has a very distinct singing method/vocal so that might turn people off if they don't like that. I've grown used to it tongue.gif
Just released an EP called Toshi Densetsu Club. It's got only 4 tracks but I really like it overall. My fav track is Dream Box, which you can hear below. The 2-min short version (PV) doesn't do it justice. It's such a beautiful and bittersweet track.

NO-MAN is not bad either plus the opening track's got nice hooks.

I'd say the chances of getting this in msia is very slim. I usually order online from Yesasia or CDjapan.

JPOP update

ONE OK ROCK - Might Long Fall (single) is out tomorrow but it's already leaked.
It's a very Westernized single, especially the song Decision, reminds me of something The Script or The Fray would sing. Nevertheless, it's still a very nice single.

JPOP UPDATE

SKE48's Bukiyou Taiyou's not bad, at least it's tons better than pathetic Kokoro no Placard (they're trying to rip off Koisuru Fortune Cookie's success but it's just so bad). M Three (subunit from Fairies)'s new single is quite nice too while Tricot's MV is interesting, glad to see all the fans who participated. I like the last scene where the members properly picked all the pieces of paper and threw them away.

New band to introduce! 3-piece female band called Rick Rack. Perhaps a milder version of SCANDAL.

If that's not enough, have a look at this video below. It's an original song by Serina, the vocalist/guitarist. She played every instrument, that shamisen too.

That aside, here's Lostage with the new music, Flower.

ALSO, here's Rina Katahira who sounds eerily like YUI.

Here's a promo for her new album out today - amazing sky

Just a brief recommendation of an artist that I feel whose new album is actually quite pleasant.

user posted image

Yu Takahashi – Ima Soko ni Aru Meimetsu to Gunjo (album)
Release date: August 6th, 2014

I gave this a listen today. I got to know him through the drama Alice no Toge where he sang the theme song – Taiyou to Hana which worked perfectly for the show. It got very addictive quickly everytime they put it at the end of episodes. I wasn’t expecting anything from this album but this turned out to be very pleasant! There’s something very nostalgic about the way he composed the music (especially Yakimochi and the ballads in whole).I felt there’s a good balance between fast-paced pop/rock and ballads. Glad that I gave this album a shot, worth my time.

Highlights: Yakimochi, Onaji Hibi no Kurikaeshi, Taiyou to Hana, Hadaka no Ookoku and Pioneer. I wonder if WC is experimental because it’s just so different from the rest. The urgency, the way he sings it and the accompanying heavy guitars/bass is nice.

Score: 8.5/10 This is a KEEPER!

Might as well share some of those tunes here:

Nothing's Carved in Stone is a Jrock band created by Ellegarden guitarist after they disbanded. So expect some good stuffs from them.
They just released an album - Strangers in Heaven and I think it's good. Highlights are Shimmer Song, Brotherhood, Sekkei Nite, Midnight's Train and Chimera no Yoru.

Goodbye Holiday has only released 2 mini albums thus far. They're going to release a 3rd mini album soon but I wonder why not just a full length major album? They obviously are capable of doing so. Hajimari no Uta is their 2nd mini album.

tricot's brand new single - Break is another solid release. Even though the only male member of the band (drummer) left earlier this year, their music is still as good, if not, even better imo.

user posted image

Break's MV is self-directed and features fans from all over the world. It's simple but the message across is effective. Basically, they're told to write something they're suffering from on a piece of paper and then tear it off.

The coupling song - After School is my favorite off the single. I feel it's even nicer than Break. I love the quiet intro and then the buildup into an explosive chorus. Her vocal is so raw and you can even hear it cracking (in a good way) towards the end where liberation is at its best. Amazing release from this underrated band.

Introducing lesser known bands here.

user posted image

FLiP is Japanese female band from Okinawa who debuted back in year 2005. Their music is often aggressive rock, upbeat, very much guitar-driven with strong vocalist. Overall, this is a very energetic band. Often times compared with SCANDAL but I think they have different approach and musical style of their own.

*links to try out their songs in spoiler

Kinoko Teikoku (Mushroom Empire) consists of 4 members – Satou (Vocal/guitar), A-chan (chorus/guitar), Taniguchi Shigeaki (bass) and drummer Nishimura “Kon”. They were formed in 2007, Tokyo. Their music is classified as "shoegaze" but Japanese style? So far, they’ve released 2 mini albums and a full length studio. The two minis are Uzu ni Naru (2012) and Long Goodbye (2014). Eureka was released in 2013. My favorite album is Long Goodbye. It’s a perfect little mini with only 5 but good solid songs. It’s a great place to start if you’re curious what their music sounds like.Their music is accompanied with harmonious guitar rhythms. Satou’s vocal is hauntingly beautiful and covers a wide range. Most tracks have this out of the world, ethereal atmosphere and just drones on forever.

yeah, i mean jpopsuki torrent..i still have 2 of my invite..never thought of using/giving it..

Make sure that the user you are about to invite knows the basics about torrenting and how to keep up his ratio, if not - teach him! If a user you invited shows up on the forum asking questions that he should already know the answer to, you MIGHT get into trouble.

if u can do this..PM me ur email..keeping ratio is important.. thumbup.gif

I'm not sure about Glay but I can recommend artists similar to YUI.

Haruka to Miyuki (female duo band) is quite good, they're actually one of my favorite female bands in Japan now.

You should check out their album Cyanotype, really good stuffs in there thumbup.gif

Other artists that come to mind are Leo Ieiri, Rina Katahira and J-Min.

Kobukoro also sings quite a lot of ballads. That's all I can think of atm smile.gif

By Japan's standards, this is how chubby people look like. A new idol group under avex has debuted.

This really cracks me up, had a good laugh, especially towards the end when it goes crazy laugh.gif

Short version of the actual PV

Those who are not familiar with this group, they're under avex and had some pretty nice singles. They're really good in dancing.
Check them out.

I know the songs these two girls sing aren't exactly your Jpop style plus the fact that they sing in English and heavily influenced by EDM. But they're still Japanese so I thought of just sharing the current 'phenomenon' that hit the Western Jpop fans. They liked them a lot so far. I think their music is definitely unique in a way and that 'doll/living mannequin' thing they have going on too. It's refreshing.

Presenting Far East Mention Mannequin or in short, FEMM
They have enough songs to make a full length album already to be honest, so people are just waiting for it to drop.

I was addicted to this song for weeks.

I really should explore the rest of Lowyat forum more...didn't realize there is a Jpop fan thread here.

Big Jpop fan here. List of artists I like is ridiculously long, but we'll start with IkimonoGakari, Perfume, BabyMetal, Nishino Kana, and miwa. At least they're the artists I seem to be listening to the most right now but it changes over time.

I'm also something of an idol fan...I follow AKB48 and Hello Project, just for fun. tongue.gif

My haul from my recent Tokyo trip. The Tower Records in Shibuya is absolute heaven for Jpop lovers. It's got 7 floors including a cafe where you can read and stuffs. Each floor is dedicated to certain genre. First floor is where all the recent releases are. Me and my friend went about 4 times in total laugh.gif

Morning Musume '14 - 14 Shou~ The message [Limited A] digipak album + booklet (cool photos inside of each member)
Asian Kungfu Generation - 10th Anniversary live DVD
Kimura Kaela - 10 Years [best album]
Chatmonchy - Kokoro to Atama [single]
DIVA - DISCOVERY [Limited A single] - a present from a Japanese friend

The first week I was there, Momusu's album was released so I got to see lots of billboards at various stations and of course, Shibuya crossing as well. It was great but too bad I didn't go to the release event at Sunshine City even though I could since I stayed at Ikebukuro, which was near. But I was too tired and since my friend isn't a H!P fan, I'm not keen to go alone at night plus I'm not very familiar with the place yet. But I've made up my mind to attend their concert next year if possible. I kinda regret not attending Sayumi's graduation concert this 26th Nov.

Anyways, Japan is a country I wouldn't mind going back every year.

Last night I watched the live stream for Sayumi Michishige's graduation concert. I can't believe she's no longer a Momusu sad.gif Over the past two years since I actively followed this group, I've seen her leadership and how she pulled them up from the ground and rise again to fame. She's never my favorite member but I really respect her for preserving her idol image clean of scandals and being such a great leader. I mean, 12 years is truly a damn long time. Yokohama Arena was a good choice for her graduation venue by the way. 12, 000 fans and sea of pink glowed so brightly for her. She deserved it.

Speaking of which, how many idols actually hurt her own foot during their graduation lol... She got a sudden cramp in the middle of the show, specifically around the end of Renai Hunter performance (during Medley) and had to stay behind at the main stage as the rest continued without her at the Center stage. But she stayed throughout the entire performance. Just a few blackouts (I think 2-3 times) because she couldn't stand the pain and crouched to fix her leg. I think the girls are so professional because the dance formation still looked perfect and like nothing was amiss, except for us fans who know. The Medley was my favorite, it was probably the longest they've ever performed, amazing stamina ohmy.gif thumbup.gif

I felt a bit empty inside this morning. This 10 member lineup is my favorite. So when I saw the remaining 9 members I died a little inside. But I'm also looking forward to 2015, with the new members. Formation for 13 people might be a bit tough. But I believe they can do it. Seriously though, honestly, I think the 9/10/11th gen really improved a LOT in terms of live performances. They're nothing short of amazing. They really gave their all last night, you can sense the enormous amount of intense energy. I can't wait for the DVD. I might just get the blu-ray this time. Afterall, it's been a while since they got to perform at such a huge venue like Yokohama Arena.

THIS IS GOOD

Also, SCANDAL just released their 6th studio album, HELLO WORLD which features the members writing and composing their own music. Each member has a song they composed by themselves and sang. I just listened to it once, although my first impression is that I prefer their STANDARD album (previous album), I'm really glad they are very involved in the process of this album more than ever. It's a huge step and I like this direction. So I hope they compose more in the future. So far, I can say that MAMI and RINA definitely have a knack for composing.

Speaking of which, gonna share some Momusu tracks from their new album 14 Shou~ The Message, which I feel is the best album in a while and imo, it's solid. Tsunku really put in some effort on this.

C-ute's latest single might be their best in a while. The more I listened to I Miss You, the more I'm addicted. The overlaying vocals really work brilliantly and I like how it progressed with urgency, then hits with the final I Miss You chorus thumbup.gif

I'm not very familiar with Utada's songs to really be able to recommend similar artists like her because to me, Utada is a class of her own and her music is distinct. But you might wanna try these few solo female singers who belong to the same genre R&B.

Uh, thanks for the recommendation then.

Gotta get back into the J-music scene; kinda getting really bored of radio stuff...

Also, Hikki is really her own genre, huh.

What kind of music do you like? Maybe it'll be easier to recommend if we know your preferences? For starters, I won't recommend idols to you since you're not into them laugh.gif though there are better idol groups than 48G hehe, at least music-wise and performance quality.

Just to add a few more places where I get my usual fix of Jpop.

Here's Angerme's new MV for Taikei Bansei. It's actually a pretty good jam. Though I prefer their original group's name - S/mileage.

Anyone who's into pop/rock should give KANA-BOON's new album, TIME a try. Just gave it a listen last night and it was pleasantly good.
My favourite track - absolutely love the guitar riffs thumbup.gif

You're welcome!
Yeah, most of the 1st and 2nd gen already graduated. Those gens were the ones that worked their way up until the group got famous. It's just something idol fans need to get used to. Graduations are inevitable. You should see how much Morning Musume's members have changed lol..some of the old gen members are married and mothers now biggrin.gif The current members are all younger than me sweat.gif

Are you new to Jpop or just got into idol music? Btw, if you like AKB's songs, I suggest you check their older singles like RIVER, BEGINNER, Iiwake Maybe, Oogoe Diamond, Namida Surprise etc...I prefer their older songs, very catchy and more unique than what they're doing now, at least imo. Now they just sound like they're rehashing the older templates and not as inspiring as before. Like they're running out of ideas.

Jpop is harder to find than say...Kpop but if you know the right place to search, trust me, you won't be disappointed. There are lots of gems out there waiting to be found, especially the indie scene thumbup.gif

Agreed. korean music is easier to find probably because so many people are in to it. Currently, spotify is my only medium to get new japanese songs. Haha, I'd say I'm more new towards j-idol. I've known bands like the gazzete, one ok rock and x japan for quite some time, also the anime songs.

Yeah, i feel 48's older music are better. UZA, give me five, RIVER and kaze wa fuiteiru are the best for me. Their newer releases are more towards cutesy vibe i guess? Nice also, but I'm bias towards the first gen tongue.gif

Grad and election system is new to me though. Usually groups from other countries just disband or something.

I love UZA, I've been waiting for them to release another kakkoi/cool song for a while now but none. Idol groups are known for their graduation system (I think Morning Musume started the tradition). But not all groups practice that. Election system is still solely something only 48G does though. Don't worry, you'll get used to it after a while.

Sharing more stuffs I've been listening to lately.

If anyone knows the punk/rock group ELLEGARDEN before, the HIATUS is a band the lead singer created.

Here's the version with AKFG

Oh yes, DAI released their album last week and my initial impression was it's better than expected. I feel their ballads are quite good, followed by uptempo tracks like EDGE and Marionette. The only thing lacking is darker/rockier songs which I love from ETERNAL FLAME. I hope they make more of those in their next album.

Listen to
Sousei
Hajimari no Basho

Chatmonchy's new single is also out, not as exciting as their previous but I like Tokimeki a lot.

H!P is going full force in April and so far, the songs have been quite good.

Currently the oldest group members (age average wise), C-ute has grown and matured into a really fine group.

Here's a new group Country Girls, with Momoko Tsugunaga (Berryz has disbanded this month).

^ Nice! biggrin.gif I liked a couple of songs from it namely Dance in the Rain, Walk of my life, Sometimes Dreams Come true.

Found a female-fronted indie rock band today while randomly selecting singles/albums to try. They're called aquarifa. I really like their sound. They just released a mini album called Mani no Himitsu. Love the artwork too.

Ayumi Hamasaki is releasing a new album out this week, 9.4.15. It has leaked so I already it a listen. My initial impression:

Standouts from this album are WARNING, The Show Must Go On, Movin' On Without You. Honorable mentions are Out of Control and Zutto...WARNING is a very aggressive in-your-face kinda song that doesn't give a damn about the noise it's giving. I for one, love it. I love how loud and noisy it is. It actually keeps me very awake (best cure for sleepiness). The Show Must Go On is worth recommending as well because of its pretty unique transitions in the track. It's fresh and bold and in fact, the album needs more music like this. As for the rest, it really feels same-y after a while, there's nothing epic that will stay in your memory forever like her older masterpieces. Still this is slightly better than her previous album.

Namie Amuro - a very lengthy preview for her new album _genic

Initial impressions - At first glance, it's surpassing FEEL in many ways and sounds like an advanced FEEL 2.0. All the tracks have English and just a few with some Japanese lyrics. She obviously still needs some work with English pronunciation because without the lyrics, I still have hard time listening to what she was singing. After a while, this sounds like a compilation of Western Top 40 as well, very samey and hard to differentiate from one to another. Very very EDM heavy. There was a rumor of her moving away from EDM and doing more R&B with this album a while ago but I guess that idea went down the drain pretty quick. Either way, I think most fans are still pumped for this new album. I might be getting the physical too but I still need to digest how I really feel about it because I miss the Japanese-feel songs that this album is obviously missing.
