Please share. my son slept in sarong till 2 yrs old. sleeping in sarung is like they r being hug hence, sleep better. it also makes their head rounder. my son sleep until facing down and when wake up all the face covered in holes shape. haha. buy the sarung with holes type more airy for them. but prepared to buy an electronic swing. if not u might end up swing them all day long.

As a baby, I was scared when put inside sarung to sleep and I can't sleep at all plus the rocking is very disturbing...But maybe it is just me..

We never liked the idea at first hut when we tried it, it worked like magic. Benefit is as mentioned. Sleep more soundly. Head round shape. Its also easy on us as it out baby to sleep easier rather than we have to hold and rock ourselves.

Some people say it is not advisable as baby will get 'brain damage' due to the shaking?!! Not sure. My boy using it since 2 months old. Reason is he will sleep soundly after the swinging motion. Bought an automatic swinger as well. I feel if baby has no problem sleeping, there's no need to start him on this habit.

It does work like magic, but only use it as a last resort or sparingly. Excessive usage will limit their phsical learning like flipping, crawling etc.. As for making head rounder, i alsodoubt this. Ur baby will still sleep facing upwards and so it will still flatten the head behind. Imo the best is still sleep terbalik. The baby feel more secure, stomach less air

IMO, sleep too much on sarung may cause the baby bone compare to sleep on bed has a straighter bone position. What i do is, after slept in the sarung, i will bring her out onto bed.

Just put the baby on a flat mattress. This can train baby's sleeping habit.

i put my bb in swing at night 9pm so easier and faster to fall asleep... then after midnight milk onwards sleep in bed so using both... thing is I want to train my bb to be able to sleep in bed as well so it's easier when he grows older (you cannot be bringing your swing with you every where especially when you travel)

my case is a good case
my older brother was born and he prefers sarung I was born 3years later and left in a baby bed/cot
the issue with my brother is that he needs to be swing to properly sleep if no swing, he will cry/not sleep. That was for the afternoon. At nite, will sleep with mom and dad in the big bed
where as I was accustomed to alone in the baby bed and it was easier for my mom, since she can leave me and do her stuff

I guess bed is better. Sarung is just too traditional.

wow i almost forgot about the existence of sarong!!
u know what, i don't see the disadvantage at all - Just don't rock/swing too hard if you're worried.
sports or riding in a car would probably produce more impact than a nice rocking sarong...
plus yes, the motion helps with sleep, even as adults (u tend to fall asleep more easily in a moving vehicle)..
and; as for babies heads being rounder... could be true, i don't know

from medical perspective, the rocking motion of the sarung esp. with automated swinger may be an indication that affects baby's brain. and it's better for the spine development if the baby are allowed to sleep on a flat bed.

I would advise if possible try not to let the baby sleep in the sarung, train the baby to sleep flat on bed or side way. Based on my experience with my niece, she used to sleep in sarung and too depend on sarung, until she can't sleep at all in stroller(new stroller wasted due to this), she can't sleep when we hug/carry her, or anywhere else(sofa/bed/car). We can't go anywhere with her due to this habit that she has, no matter how we try to make her sleep and she seems so sleepy but just can't sleep because no sarung. I remember there is one time we need to travel in the car from kampung back to kl, she was crying non stop because she is so sleepy and only want to sleep in sarung, we even had to stop by a small mamak stall, put up the sarung/buaian and put her into it so that she can sleep. End up we spent 3 hours sitting at the mamak swinging the buaian, sigh... so now my baby boy i dont let him sleep in buaian at all, and he is so used to sleeping anywhere, either flat bed or rocker or carry him. This makes us much easier when we need to travel/bring him out to anywhere.
