Fantastic news. Cat4 LTE Mifi is officially here by Maxis.

RM500.

http://new.maxis.com.my/content/maxis/en/p...-broadband.html

i THINK it is Cat4 la... cos my modem which looks exactly the same is Cat4.

LTE CAT 4 Mifi - Huawei E5776
LTE CAT 4 Portawifi - Huawei E8278
LTE CAT 4 Modem - the successor of Huawei E398 is? izit E3276?
*
Yes the successor of E398 is E3276

And Huawei had move from Qualcomm chipset to their home grown HiLink chipset.

I used E3276 and E5776 for a while, heat is amazingly low.

dont want to bring these two devices?
how is the speed for E3276 compare to E398?
*
No significant different

But somehow, E398 signal reception seem slightly better, not sure is it a firmware bug

I still dont have time to research E3276

oo
how about Sierra 760s and Huawei E5776?
*
I just sell my 760S for E5776

Really a hard choice, 760S got tons of customization and options while E5776 have none sad.gif

At least I got 10 hours battery now, E5776 is a lot bulkier too

saw ur speedtest for LTE
the speed is really flying when using E5776 compared to Sierra 760s
*
Hmm, yes, I think LTE is more stable on E5776.

760S around at 30Mbit+/-
E5776 36Mbit on the first test and it is constantly hitting this speed

hey, can confirm E5776 support data over USB cable? i always wanted to buy one if it does not support data over cable is a big turn off, just like E589 sweat.gif
*
My E5776s-32 support USB data (P/S : Mine is fully Huawei retail unit non OEM/rebranded)
Attached Image
E589 support data over USB, just need certain firmware to make it work, I dont have time to dig deep on that sad.gif

One thing I have to note is I found this in E5776 settings.
Attached Image
I not sure is this the wifi top speed but I am able to reach 40Mbit++ on 20M settings.

E589 USB port is only for charging. For any communication with the modem you must use WiFi

need firmware ? sweat.gif i own 6 of their modem, none of them received update from Huawei, not sure if they are just lazy lol.

The bandwidth setting is misleading i think, it's actually 20Mhz/40Mhz iirc, 40mhz only double the wifi speed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11n-...in_2.4.C2.A0GHz
*
Owh, thanks for the tips. I understand about 20/40Mhz.

The updates feature is facial effect laugh.gif It never works
For real firmware update I always rely on Google

Okay, I got a E589 firmware, trying now

But when I run the updater, the device switched to USB mode, I not sure how it happen.

But I will dig deeper when I got time.

im using it but with Hame T1
if im the only one using it, can easily reach 10 hours++ without moving too much
if stay at one place and signal 4-5 bar, can reach 12 hours++
works out of the box and LTE supported
really satisfied with Hame T1 and Huawei E398 bought from blacktubi
hame can flash to openWRT?

EDIT
just google and certain hame products can be flash to openWRT
*
All Hame products build on the same chipset, can be done but you need to compile it and tons of headache
What really surprise me is the China written code work so well with LTE.

E398 is a legend, even I use E3276 now I got to admit E398 still the best modem I used.
E3276 signal reception is weaker. I never upgrade the firmware, not sure it is fixed.

Theoretically.. if using 2 or more devices at the same time and place (such as usb modem + mifi).. and aggregating the speed using software such as (connectify Dispatch)... will the speed be doubled? Or more or less the same? (Since now the tower is giving bandwidth to more devices at the same place...?)
*
Not worth the hassle

Unless both are high speed LTE

Unless you have something that support multi threaded connection (EG : Torrent)

Else there wont be significant benefit

This is Software load balance, haven't account the lost and overhead sweat.gif
