Does Nikon offer online warranty registration or they still implement the warranty card method? How many days am I given to register my product after purchase?

Thanks.

Thanks for your answer, pal! How do we submit our warranty card? Post it to Nikon ourselves or the seller will post it for us?

My friends. I am in a dilemma now. Which one to choose? A bridge superzoom P510 or a high-end compact P7100? Please help me decide. Thanks, pals!

Which one has better image quality? I will go with the one with better image quality.

not in the picture. you can assume all of us in this thread prefers nikon DSLRs to other brands, but it doesnt mean we prefer everything nikon

i think nikon compact cameras are inferior compared to others. i agree with Calvin Seak; those 3 he listed are the best cameras for their respective price range IMO. none of them are superzooms though...
*
Is a superzoom a better deal compared to a high-end compact in terms of photo quality? Some of my pals told me that the large zoom comes at the expense of photo quality cuz you can't have the best of both worlds for a compact.

If like that then how does Nikon know when the warranty for our product will end? hmm.gif

Thanks for your kind advices. notworthy.gif

By the way, peeps, I have just sent in my Nikon for repair at Nikon Centre, the one in Times Square due to an abnormal camera heating up issue during prolonged usage. The service desk lady told me the soonest possible date for collection is next two weeks!. By then, I am already back in S'pore. cry.gif

I told the lady over there that I need the unit urgently and she said she will try her best to fulfil my request.

Any peeps here know the average servicing duration in Nikon Centre?

Thanks.

the duration depends on parts availability.
anywhere from a few hours to 2-3 weeks.
so if they say 2 weeks, most likely they dont have the parts tongue.gif
*
But the problem is that they don't even know what is the cause of the heating up issue. sad.gif I use for 5 minutes only...it's hot like mad, at the right hand grip there.

I bought the camera on 23 Dec. laugh.gif Super unlucky, man!

Nop. It's a Coolpix P7100.

I am not sure if it is the battery or what lahh. I don't have a spare battery. Just bought the camera + included accessories only...others will buy them when I return to Spore, as they are much cheaper over there. icon_idea.gif

awhile back nikon got recall the EN-EL15 batt cos of overheating problems.

it says only 7 confirmed reports, so they decide to recall.
maybe P7100 not enough reports for them to recall tongue.gif

WAHHHHHH!!! Like that will damage the camera or not one? I used the camera quite long with that overheating battery. cry.gif For like...one hour plus.

Damn lohh........... icon_question.gif

I really could not stand it anymore!!!

Read on if you guys wanna know what happened...

I bought a Coolpix P7100 on 23 December 2012. After a few days, my camera was faced with an overheating issue. The right handgrip heated up like crazy after 5 minutes of usage. So I went down to Nikon Centre KL on 27 December and requested for a one-to-one exchange, since the problem occurred less than a week after purchase, and I need the camera urgently because I will be returning to Singapore on 31 December. The service personnel declined my request (as expected) with usual reasons of a lengthy exchange process and plenty of paperwork. OK, fine. So I sent in the camera for repair and I personally requested the service personnel to expedite repairs. Thankfully, my unit came back on 29 December.

Now another problem pops up. This time, it happens to be the flash taking forever to charge. The last time I tried to take a photo with the flash raised, it took me half a minute just to charge up the flash! And to my surprise, the flash did not fire after that. So now with me back in Singapore, what am I supposed to do with the camera? I do not expect myself to return to Malaysia for a few days just to get the camera fixed up.

This is really getting ridiculous. What is this?? Two problems occurring within a couple of weeks of purchasing a brand new camera! Is Nikon Malaysia trying to give me its very own version of a surprise Christmas present? So what's next? A lens that refuses to lock focus? Or a shutter button that would not capture images?

Who knows what sort of problem might pop up next? If I am in Malaysia, I do not mind travelling to Nikon service centre everyday. But I am not.

Anyone of you guys faced this kind of problem before with your cameras? What did you do? Is requesting for an exchange too much for the first case? Now I am trying to request for exchange again. Let's see what will be their reply.

You guys remember this? Here is an update...

After a few e-mails with staffs from Nikon Malaysia, finally they agreed on a one-to-one exchange for the camera only. Well, at least better than sending in the unit for repair and needing to wait for another 3-4 days to get the camera back.

Nikon staffs are quite cooperative in getting this issue sorted out, I would say. However, you need to pressurise them in order to get things done...as usual
