QUOTE(F-22 @ Nov 10 2012, 07:18 PM)
it has been long time i observed about these things, but not just happen to me but to other myvi i've tested, so today i wrote and email to perodua..i paste a copy in here:

ELECTRIC POWER STEERING

FEEDBACK REGARDING EPS ASSIST WHICH AFFECT EPS RESPONSE TIME ADAPTING TO VEHICLE SPEED

SITUATION:

QUICK ACCELERATION FROM STANDSTILL WHEN THE EPS ASSIST IS HIGH TO HIGH SPEED 100KMH++. EPS ASSIST STILL HIGH FOR 15 SECONDS. AFTER 15 SECONDS PASSED THEN IT SETTLED TO THE LOW ASSIST.

SAME FOR QUICK DECELERATION TO BELOW 40KMH FROM HIGH SPEED. LOW ASSIST FOR FIRST 15 SECONDS, THEN IT SETTLED FOR HIGH ASSIST.

EPS ASSIST ONLY HAVE THREE MODE 1. HIGH(BELOW 40KMH) 2. MED(BELOW 60KMH) 3. LOW(ABOVE 60KMH)

EXPECTED:

EPS ASSIST SHOULD ADAPT TO VEHICLE SPEED IN REAL TIME.

ASSIST MODE SHOULD VARY CONTINUOUSLY.

SOLUTION:
ENGINEERING DEPT SHOULD DO TEST TO CONFIRM AND REQUIRE EPS ECU TO BE UPDATED.
*
I've reported this to Perodua as well a few months back, but again the staff assumed it was just another same old issue. To me I feel it is absolutely dangerous when you cannot predict the stiffness of the steering wheel. As for hydraulic steering assist, the assist is consistent and the same for all different speeds but for our EPS it varies due to the delay of response. I've swerved my car a few times due to the delay. Worst of all, the EPS lags when you need it most - especially during rapid acceleration and quick shifting of lanes.

Let us know any development if you get any. Will be willing to vouch for you if they claim anyone else does not face this problem smile.gif

Hi, I drive a 1.5 manual myvi and was just wondering if there is any other manual driver who face the same problem as me

1. Driving during jam and gear at 1, leaves clutch a little and u hear 'trak trak' sound until u change gear to 2 and move faster

2. going at 30/40 but had to stop accelerating due to car stop in front and car jerks b4 stepping on clutch?

Hope to get answers for the above.

Another thing is, should I get my bars from perodua SC or ultra racing dealers?

TQ.
*
My car too has similar issues that you speak of. Is there a feeling of something loose or 'wobbly' in the clutch?

Also, the P2 SC now sells bars? Are they reselling UR bars or do they have their own bars?

They do provide ultra racing bar(new) the front bar is 180 and anti roll bar (back low) is 280.. More expensive then UR dealer

Thanks. I thought they would at least bring bars approved by Daihatsu then we would have something better.

belum pun sebulan pakai, a few problems detected. i drive myvi 1.5 se manual transmission.

1. knocking sound juz after shifting the gear from 2nd-3rd and 3rd-4th. bunyi 'dup'. other gears ok. smooth je.
2. rattling sound at front left door, at handbrake and glove box.
3. The motor of the power window produce harsh sound when operating it (driver side). bunyi kasar bila nk turunkan.

pppppfffftttttt
*
Can't complain much - was tearing down the door panels today to find a ticking sound at the driver side, and I discovered that one of the screws that mounts the power window to the door was very loose, and the washer was knocking on the chassis during driving.

Pulled out a size-10 wrench and tightened it. Nothing like a little DIY cannot fix smile.gif

If you have sat in a tinted car, you'd find out that the perception of heat differs with everyone. smile.gif I don't feel the difference of tinting, much less in our weather and its usefulness for its price.

If you must - stick with a branded tint. Don't cheap out and get those which start peeling and cracking. It's not only the tint, but the workmanship which counts. wink.gif

Guys, my car town drive is 10.5L/100. Drive everyday from serdang to subang. What average fc you guys getting at?

Btw, this sometime happen to me. Anyone know why? When i speeding suddenly the steering become super ultra light than normal. Its like feather light. Cant control my car. Damn scared. doh.gif
*
It's an issue with the EPS. There are 3 stages, from high, medium and low assist, and there is a minimum time required for the EPS to change between assists which causes the lightness.

The members are petitioning to Perodua to ensure that the EPS is updated in real time, you can help us by emailing your issue to them smile.gif

I noticed this on the test drive unit. No wonder I felt like the steering wheel was losing control at high speeds. Perhaps we need to stay at constant for it to recognise or something...

There are a few locations where rattling sound would occur - its either from the behind the door panels, or from the dashboard. I suggest you find out where exactly the rattling sound comes from first.

That happens when you hit the low or very low fuel warning, it's either one of them.

I got a stupid question to ask

i just got a new myvi 1.3 a few days old the mileage is around 200km +

do you recommend to drive outstation from melaka to kl ?
*
The manual says that it is not recommended to stay at a constant speed during break-in (which is what you are going to do when you take the highway).

Quick question - does this happen just after rain? My Avanza does this to me as well - and judging that both our cars come from the same factory and likely re-using the same parts, that might be the culprit.

Betamek does reverse cameras too. Did you guys install in your Myvi? Does it connect to the Multimedia Unit?

Added on December 21, 2012, 1:31 pmUpdate: Perodua SA/CS took my car to Raytech tint instead of Betamek as they said they would.

Raytech cut a hole in the tint at the rearview mirror without my consent to test the gps even though they claimed it's not their tint's fault. But now I have a glaring bright spot at the top of the windscreen where the dark tint was.

So now after cutting the hole, it seems I get better GPS reception (detecting a min. of 7-10 satellites as compared to y'day and the day before when it was just 0-3) but it could be because they were using the radio instead of the USB like I mentioned. There was no rain Wednesday or Thursday. I could blame the clouds but driving back just now it was drizzling with gloomy skies. I drove from PJ to Menara KL to Bangsar without satellite detection or frequent drops or loss connection. My friend at least got her GPS unit to work all the way to PJ to Menara KL albeit slow.

My questions to Perodua SA/CS:-

1. Just say it's Raytech's fault and they claim now after the hole is cut and it's the tint's fault and they will replace my tint, will they replace it with lower or higher grade tint than I had paid for? Should I not get compensated?
2. Why did Perodua/Raytech cut the tint without consulting me first? Now there's a gaping bright hole that is disturbing and allows UV rays to come into the car defeating the purpose of putting solar tint. If they are to leave it as that, should I not get compensation for slicing off a sizeable amount of tint that I had paid for?
3. This tint company is Perodua approved since a Perodua SA advised to use it without suggesting any other brands. Why then should it interfere with my GPS if it's guaranteed not to? I never tested my Smart Tag. Should I not get compensated for false advice/advertising? It's a matter of trust and principle that was violated.
4. Perodua mentioned y'day they would take my car to Betamek and not to the tint shop so my assumption was always that they would check the Multimedia HU unit and not fiddle with the tint. They asked for my receipts and bills for the Multimedia HU Unit and not the tint. Instead, they detoured without my knowledge to Raytech even though I advised the SA to update me accordingly.
5. Perodua SA said this is their 1st encounter with a complaint re: Raytech (in which case, it may not be the tint's problem, right? Their HQ advised that it was the tint) although other customers used different type of Raytech tint. Then why did the Raytech SA advise me to get this security/solar tint? I believe the Perodua SA was advising me just to get solar tint at the time which was cheaper too.

PS:-
1. Raytech SA said I am the 1st customer in their 8 year history to have this problem so they always thought it was the Multimedia HU
2. I gave the Perodua SA all the necessary information about how I noticed without the USB and with the radio on, the GPS seemed to work but with the USB playing, the GPS didn't work but today it seemed to work but maybe only 'cos of the hole or they had used the radio all the way from Raytech to Perodua. Also, they had gone into settings and turned off the "Radio and GPS" toggle thereby not truly testing the GPS for my problem. I wouldn't be using either or when I drive. I will be using them together.
3. Perodua SA said this was his 1st encounter with Raytech and Multimedia HU problem. Claimed other customers used different type of Raytech.
4. I did inform the Perodua SA that I gave him a 9/10 rating even though he left his job to others - to the CS who came with him, to the other SA who delivered my car, to the Raytech SA - I told him I expect service from him
5. The Raytech SA was a sly one. Previously she had told me she used CS75 on her car and y'day when complaining she said she used CS85 on her car.

I am still impressed with Perodua nonetheless. Their humble CS/SA deserve recognition and they are now still trying to rectify the problem and to replace the tint that was cut without my consent plus head out to Betamek in Rawang.
*
I can't help but sympathize with your plight. I too, hate things when they do it without your consent or knowledge. As a consumer in Malaysia you have to be absolutely vigilant before a purchase - it is so difficult get after-service working the way you want it, especially on how they claim themselves to be 'experts' or 'professionals' in their work. They can tell you what you want to hear, but they never walk the talk. There is absolutely, entirely, NO credibility in the words at all. If I could give all the salesmen a punch for every single lie/beat around the bush answer/rude comeback that I've received, I would have two prosthetic hands by now. (lol)

I've heard other fellow Myvi drivers with the multimedia HU have their their units taken in by Perodua, only to be returned with the same old issues. Some of them have taken it into their own hands by relocating the GPS antenna, not sure what was the outcome but you can definitely ask them in the FB group.

So far still felt the responses. Oh yeah forgot mine is 2012 production. Dunno whether perodua have solved the problem and apply on its newer model than 2011.

Not forgetting my range borders on 9.0km/l...

9KM/liter? That's pretty bad. I've been following a few economy driving tips, this may help.

1. Cruise to maintain your speed, or slow down - this is the number one tip for me. The moment you step on the brakes, you are already ruining fuel economy as you are wasting kinetic energy. Cruise on a downhill to maintain your speed, or if you see a red traffic light ahead. Some people advise to switch to neutral during a cruise to remove engine braking, but your engine will run on idle as a result. Others argue that during in gear, your engine has its fuel completely cut-off when throttle is not applied.

2. Your acceleration should be quick, but smooth. I've never found myself requiring to put so much pressure just to move around town.

3. Upshift as soon as you can, but not until your car's engine struggles at the next gear. The owner's manual advises to shift at around 2.1K RPM, for reference. If you're on an automatic, being light-footed should tell the TCU to shift up as soon as it can.

4. Don't reset the average meter and fool yourself.

I brought my car to the SC guys last Friday, and I stay in Subang. Been driving around Kota Damansara, Taman Desa, and USJ. At the SC, it was 8.9KM/litre - and just now it's at13.6KM/litre nod.gif

If it's on a 100% city drive, you likely won't - I get close to 380KM - 390KM on an average basis, and I'm on a manual.

Hi, I wanted to change my rim to maybe a bigger one. What size can I go for? What's the pros and cons of getting a bigger rim? thanks
*
Pros:

- lighter, which means more fuel savings and better acceleration
- if tyre width is increased, better traction
- depending on offset, may offer better stability due to wider track
- looks

Cons:

- reduced reliability for replica rims (denting, cracking, etc)
- if tyre width is increased, more rolling resistance and reduced aerodynamics
- heavier, if you're aiming for >15"
- may hit fenders or rub against inner wall and heavier steering, depending on size and offset
- speedometer will read wrongly if above tolerable levels
- ECU will incorrectly read speeds which affects engine performance
- more expensive tyres

Since the average consumption of fuel is calculated in the ECU, and it's unlikely that the calculations are wrong. I just drove to Bangsar, USJ and back and I gained my average from 14.1km/l to 14.4km/l.

How fast do you usually average on the road?
