hey fellow paneristi! Im from penang as well but currently reside in Aus. Good choice there yonggoh! May i ask is the case of the watch thick? Like it seats really high on your wrist?

Stix: Im fairly new with pam but im doing my research everyday and yea im going to join that MYristi forum. Is your username similar over there? Cheers!
*
too thick is a relative term but yes the watch does sit pretty high and wide on my wrists.

I remember first time i wore it around i found it extremely heavy to swing around and became very conscious of it...
all that goes away after the first drink (*ahem* knock!)

Hmm hmm...but somehow I find complicated watch quite..attractive. Somehow it has this vibe lah. But classy ones are freaking expensive...meh...
*
funny u say that...
my most complicated watch is my "cheapest" (hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, date, day)
and my most expensive watch is just hours, minutes and date (not even bloody seconds! or even a screw down crown!)

I do notice that there are many rich guys here, so I dare not compete lor. Haha. Im a bangla paid worker in KL unfortunately. =( My only watch was a Edifice. So tot of getting a nice yet not too exp dinner watch or a watch for special occasion. =)
*
i also have appreciation for the sub hundred RM watches smile.gif
i have openly declared my affections for G-Shocks and Luminox on several occasions in these forums....

Am not too experienced with the dinner watch category tho , as I myself don't have a watch for the formal occasion. unsure.gif

Hmm hmm...I can appreciate only up to that level nia...at most also maybe if I collect or naik gaji then I might buy a 1K watch to reward myself. Lul. Omai....what is the whole concept of a dinner watch though? =X
*
to me a dinner watch is typically:
- Thin with moderate dimensions (typically 39mm or less)
- With only basic complications
- Preferably on a leather strap (tho this thought could be deemed old fashioned)
- Made of a precious metal (again some old world thinking here)

ie, James Bond to me is a caveman wearing those diver watches with his suits/tux cool2.gif

hahaha dun get me wrong guys... i tried on the JLC before at the MBS shoppes and it was just a tick over rm20,000 at the time if i recall...
Quite significantly less than the RM50k+ asking price for the Piaget..
hence the term "poor man's version"....

RM20,000/RM50,000 to pay for any watch is not something many people could just buy on impulse...

It would take me lots of restrained spending and maggi noodles before my wallet has enough ammo to pull on another time piece...

oh ya I remember now that that's the larger altiplano... I recall a smaller diameter version. like this one in 38mm but I'm not sure if they still make these... but it does look less impressive without the seconds dial...I do believe this version is manual wind also? (not really pay attention cause not even close to consider purchasing (yet?)) hehe...

h11g: the ref pictured earlier is the 14060M (pre 2007)

well as mentioned a 5513 is the very desired Sub due to its tight associations with the early Bonds...
They tend to fetch hefty premiums these days... a true collectors item...personally i LOVE them!

Classic is a loose nickname for a no date submariner...
of course purists may argue that the classic should also have no crown protection, tritium dial.. etc etc but thats another topic altogether...

The ceramic bezel and new bracelets in my opinion are DEFINITE improvements over the previous incarnations of the Sub... but i like the cleaner dial before the COSC certifications and "ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX" engravings the betweem the dial/bezel... also not so sure if i love or hate the blue lumination of the new ones...
cool2.gif

compared to previous pic i posted: COSC certification writings on dial, rolex rolex rolex engravings, blue luminor...
