QUOTE(cskean @ Oct 28 2012, 10:51 AM) Good morning guys, I just updated my firmware via KIES few days ago to the Malaysia 4.0.4. you are using stock 4.0.4?Now I'm thinking to root my SGS2 since the warranty period is over, but there is something that hold me back after I did some reading from the xda forum. 4.0.4 stock kernel might brick SGS2, does this mean if I intend to root my SGS2, it will hardbrick my phone? Can I flash to Siyah kernel without having my SGS2 rooted? Or it is a must to root in order to flash other kernel? I've already download the CF-Root-SGS2_XW_OXI_LPF-v5.5-CWM5.zip from here. Just wondering is this the correct file I'm choosing to root my SGS2? After update, my info are as below Andorid version : 4.0.4 Baseband version : I9100DXLPB Kernel version : 3.0.15-1056084 dpi@HP16 #3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 23 13:50:48 KST 2012 Build number : IMM76D.DXLPF My intention to root the SGS2 is because I wanted to be able to mod the battery icon , enable the Google Map Navigation, remove some ads and also bloatware from Samsung. At the moment, I will not into the custom rom cause I'm still a noob, so just will stay in stock rom. Therefore I need to clarify few things before I really proceed it. 1. Does the USB JIG still able to remove the Yellow Triangle and reset the Binary counter in ICS? 2. Will I still able to get firmware updates from OTA or KIES if I rooted my SGS2 with stock rom? 3. What are the apps that can be use to remove the bloatware? Does the Titanium Backup free version able to do so? I will attach a pic of my SGS2 info in case I missed out some of the important info that is needed. I hope that sifus here can help out a newbie here. TQVM. risky situation you are in. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693704 go this page, download the app check you got the brick bug or not. if no, go ahead do what you want. |

QUOTE(camikun @ Oct 29 2012, 12:11 PM) i have some problem here.. just rooted my i9100G.. first check see whether you really deleted it or not.the problem is i accidently block my clock apps with gemini app manager (i confused with the clock widget and now it refused to unblock go settings>apps>all apps, see got clock there or not. if got tap it, it may be disabled, just enable it. or use root explorer see your /system/app got clock.apk or not. if confirm cant find it, maybe it was frozen. install titanium backup or romtoolbox, unfreeze it. if cant find it in frozen section, means really deleted it. either flash back stock rom, or go custom rom. g version cm10 is very good. |

QUOTE(antt00 @ Oct 30 2012, 02:12 PM) ya i just tested on nexus7 tablet. flash cm10 on it.it does indeed have the hide control bar function. cm10 improved alot for it. the first early built was laggy, now its very smooth. CM10 changelog is quite confusing, should release according to model. maybe they too busy. by the way about s2, i not sure since which built, one of the cm bug was solved, when hear music through earphone, if got notification, volume wont suddenly drop anymore. very good. strange they dont mention these kind of fix in their change log. or maybe they did, just that i dont understant cyan language. haha. |

the new adw launcher looks like a mess.
maybe not use to the settings and layout. overall it mimics the looks of ics launcher. good for those stuck in GB and below. home screen scrolling is equally smooth like apex. the best part is so many new types of transition effects. very nice. but the app tray animation abit laggy even on nexus7. less features and polished than nova and apex.duwan to change la. stick to apex launcher. lazy set back homescreen all over again. |

QUOTE(camikun @ Oct 31 2012, 04:01 PM) successfully migrate to jelly bean cm10 nightly.. Welcome to Cm10 family. but i do have question.. how to remove/uninstall widget from phone?? so many widget that i dont and will not use.. If widget is at home screen, just remove it by long press n drag to the top. The widgets in the app tray, just leave them there. You cnt remove them from app tray. Example the Gmail widget, if you want to remove it you have to un install Gmail as well. Comes in a package, and cannot just delete the widget. |
