huh.gif you sesat? For work use i suggest you better just get a prosumer model or an entry DSLR instead. PnS don't serve you well; they are merely cameras with limited modes.

between those two, i prefer sony... their lcd screen is better... crisp and clear

and for olympus, sometimes the picture is a bit dark...

I'm not too sure about the two models you suggested, but make sure you get something that has manual function at least.

depending on ur budget, there's a wide range of digicams. DSLR are good cameras but since threadstarter stated for graphic/design purposes, then a normal digicam will serve it's purpose well. i personally would recommend http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olym...y_stylus800.asp . lots of functions, 8mp... & weatherproof~

A good start is take some photograhy class and write down your needs. Its better to get one good camera rather that upgrading all the time. DSLR might be a good choice. You just have to consider your budget and the things you are going to do with it.

As for sony, it uses Memory stick as it's storage medium which the price still quite expensive.

and olympus use XD card which is still not very common and that the reason the price still higher than normal CF or SD Card.

If you not urgent to get it, i suggest you to wait for 1-2 months, this week PMA held in US, big camera brand like nikon, canon, panasonic.... they release quite a number of new model. you can check it out from URL below:

If you're vying to be a photograher.. go Digital SLR (DSLR).

If not, just get something with a minimum 4MP capability and has the ability to adjust things like frame speed, aperture, micro format, and most importantly the manual setting.

My camera is only 4MP and I find the resolution after transfering to the computer for editing in use for websites more than enough.

frame speed ==> shuttle speed
micro format ==> macro format

yep, 4MP is more than enough.
for computing or for real photo wash out..

yeah..i will suggest that you get a DSLR...since it's not really that expensive nowadays...anyways..i think this is kinda the wrong place to post...if you would prefer a snap shot one..then i think canon ixus should fit your requirements...especially when it comes to macro shots...i personally own a canon 300D and a ixus 50...300D would be for my professional wedding use and the ixus 50 is for play...

DSLR means Digital Single Lens Reflex, it obviously have more functions than a normal snapshot digital camera...you get to adjust the aperture...shutter speed...exposure...you get to add extra lens to it to fit the condition u nit..u get to add addtional unit of flash as primary or slave flash...with all the stuffs it can do..that's why it will defintiely cost more than a normal digital camera... thumbup.gif

cheers

here's a website you can check out for DLSR if u plan to buy a second hand one..they have nice cameras there and also extra lens...

WOW. What an explanation for SLR. Hehe.
OK let me get into SLR first.
SLR-Single Lens Reflex uses a mirror to reflect the image you see. Meaning what you see from the viewfinder is what you will get. The image is reflected from the lens to the film and also the the viewfinder. With the introduction of digital technology a new type of SLR called DSLR was born. Now it is refelected to digital light capture plate and also the viewfinder.

Normal camera -point and shoot camera on the other hand, have 2 holes - one from the lens and one from the viewfinder. What you actually sees from the viewfinder is just from the upper hole. The lens below might have a totally different view.

In terms of functions, I see lots of normal camera actually is catching up. With the ability to switch to manual and have lots of control and tweaking but you can never view the real exact image that is reflected on the film or plate.
