yeah..i will suggest that you get a DSLR...since it's not really that expensive nowadays...anyways..i think this is kinda the wrong place to post...if you would prefer a snap shot one..then i think canon ixus should fit your requirements...especially when it comes to macro shots...i personally own a canon 300D and a ixus 50...300D would be for my professional wedding use and the ixus 50 is for play...

DSLR means Digital Single Lens Reflex, it obviously have more functions than a normal snapshot digital camera...you get to adjust the aperture...shutter speed...exposure...you get to add extra lens to it to fit the condition u nit..u get to add addtional unit of flash as primary or slave flash...with all the stuffs it can do..that's why it will defintiely cost more than a normal digital camera... thumbup.gif

cheers

here's a website you can check out for DLSR if u plan to buy a second hand one..they have nice cameras there and also extra lens...

WOW. What an explanation for SLR. Hehe.
OK let me get into SLR first.
SLR-Single Lens Reflex uses a mirror to reflect the image you see. Meaning what you see from the viewfinder is what you will get. The image is reflected from the lens to the film and also the the viewfinder. With the introduction of digital technology a new type of SLR called DSLR was born. Now it is refelected to digital light capture plate and also the viewfinder.

Normal camera -point and shoot camera on the other hand, have 2 holes - one from the lens and one from the viewfinder. What you actually sees from the viewfinder is just from the upper hole. The lens below might have a totally different view.

In terms of functions, I see lots of normal camera actually is catching up. With the ability to switch to manual and have lots of control and tweaking but you can never view the real exact image that is reflected on the film or plate.
