snowmei, your problem solved already? yeah i can see the motive to go for commercial firmware after brainslayer start selling the special firmwares sometimes middle of last year. and that why there isn't any new features added to dd-wrt for broadcom based firmware.
*
you mean the internet case right? i still like to use router mode which mean modem pppoe and router dhcp....
not sure why my modem will dail suddenly and cripple the internet.....
and also useful when wanna get 218 ip... if use router seems like power down and up it... take some time and cripple the network for a while also.....

now not sure why i can reach only 25mbps even i put my laptop just beside the router???

Not really power cycle it to reconnect actually. You can disconnect and connect in the router configuration page though.
*
i didn`t do the power cycle..
just that when i press the disconnect... my network hang/down for a while....
after that it only back to normal...
for me is like power cycle...

Thanks guys! biggrin.gif
Noticed this is a v7 that I bought. Is this version worse/better than the older version?

Is there any firmware to enhance the connection/speed etc for WRT54G?
*
for version 7.... you can`t flash any third party firmware... only linksys firmware...
i think all would say worst for this gua??

Hi . just wannna enquire . between the WRT54GL(v1.1) or the GS . Which one should i get ? I mean .. in terms of the overall features ....
*
for GS best is to get version 4... after version 4 all are 16MB RAM and 2 MB ROM... which only can flash to micro edition.....
where GL have 16MB RAM and 4 MB ROM which can flash to standard version....
but GS have speedbooster...... not sure about GL.....

Well, the SpeedBooster won't be much help actually unless you have a Linksys wireless adaptor with SpeedBooster technology. Also, it is only useful if you are going to transfer large files over your LAN network. If you are just using it for internet usage, our ISP's are normally offering 1 to 2mbps at max for now and even a 11mbps wireless LAN speed is more than enough.
*
but do GL have speedbooster??
i saw this at wiki but i tried to enable it... the speed still stuck at 25mbps max...

So this, dd-wrt.v23_mini_generic.bin, is the one I should download?

Any other advise before I wreck my WRT54GL??
*
ya.. you should flash this version....
only after flashed this version only go for standard if you want to........

don`t straight flash from linksys original firmware > dd-wrt standard version...
should be linksys original firmware > dd-wrt mini version > dd-wrt standard version....

flash with cable on.. don`t flash with wireless.....

hardyboyz...
please check that am i correct or wrong....
i don`t want someone router get brick because of me... doh.gif

Well the mini version caters for users who don't need those extra functions. See this table for the comparison of different versions.
*
ya.....
after i flashed to standard from mini...
those extra function i didn`t use it at all......
most of the extra function are good for people who wanna setup a wifi spot....

make your modem aztech as brigde mode first
then,
Open a web browser like internet explorer or mozilla firefox. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is blank, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
then go to quick setup choose pppoe with llc or vc,
insert the username, password,
vci,vpi,
enable NAT

save settings..
it should be ok .
if you want to enable the security, click the Security link near the top of the page.
and adjust the setingss
*
er.... sorry ya.. i also tried what you said...
but my pppoe page don`t have the llc and vc box to fill...
and i can`t see the box for NAT.. only saw DHCP....

Ok, this is getting a tiny bit technical...

I called up Linksys M'sia hotline and they are kind enough to guide me through some changes but they didnt explain what were they...

http://www1.linksys.com/support/troublesho...d_settings.html

I was told to change:
RTS Threshold = 2304
Fragmentation Threshold = 2304
Beacon Interval = 50

What are these and what do they do? Lastly, when I look at my WUSB54GS Linksys software, I get a reading of

Noise Level -90 to -93 dbm
Signal Strength -38 to -44 dbm

Are these regular values you guys are also getting? Or I should move my router elsewhere, etc? Kindly clarify. Thanks.
*
you flashed to dd-wrt right?? linksys still offer help to you??? shocking.gif
i follow the default and no problem with it..... just i can`t get 54mbps even i put my laptop beside my router....

about that dc problem.. don`t think move your router would help as you connect the router with lines and not wireless.....
if wireless networking, you can try.. since there are blindspot.....

any side effects if I put my xmit power that recommend by idragon ?
*
the router will become hotter....
if you reach till 100mW ... best is to get a notebook fan and stick it on top the router there.. to cool it down....
