I tried without DD-WRT on WRT54GL last night, got 1 time disconnected under usage of BT, messanging, and gaming. But recover within 5 minutes.
Tonight want to flash to DD-WRT, kekeke. Cannot wait already.

Mine is WRT54GL v1.1 firmware 4.30.7. I flash to v23SP2 generic mini, then flash again to v23SP2 generic standard?

Just run a bandwidth test at any bandwidth test site and the readings would be shown. As for P2P you can just leave the protocol as P2P as the router is able to determine P2P packets.

i've just flashed dd-wrt.v23_mini_generic.. but i can't access the web GUI.. right after i flashed it, i couldn't login to my router.. help!!!

done it, but still can't login to my router.. and i think the settings r still there coz i can still connect to the internet right now

er out of topic...i just got my dd-wrt on my v5 without any problem but does tis mean i can use this v5 to connect with xlinkai??
and wat does this QoS thingy that u guys mention in last few post?

and y does my router always auto dc and reconnect? cuz i was having 218 ip and it suddently dc and i get 219 again...

Correction, it is a low SNR margin. The higher the better.

you cannot do that if the router does the streamyx dialing. You only can access both modem and router config page if :
1) router's ip changed to another ip (not 192.168.1.1) eg 192.168.2.1
2) the modem ip can remain 192.168.1.1
3) the modem does the dialing for streamyx not the router.
4) set connection type in dd-wrt as "Automatic configuration-DHCP"

then, you can access the config page for both at
router = 192.168.2.1
modem = 192.168.1.1

but, for me it not worth it...

more load to the cheapo modem, wasted the advantage that router handles it better

how to configure dd-wrt so that wireless clients don't get disconnected after some time of idle? my laptop seems to always get disconnected when idle at home with dd-wrt, but it doesnt happen when using my office wireless.

I need suggestion/help. I'm going to buy wireless router to share my internet connection between my 2 pc (1 upstairs, 1 below). Mostly everywhere people will recommend me Linksys WRT54G. I got some questions about this router:

1) how far is the signal? i want to put it on downstairs, so need to know it can reach the other pc or not.
2) What's the diff between WRT54G, WRT54GS and WRT54GL? In terms of custom firmware, durability and features.
3) My current modem is wired modem router (Dlink 504T). Is it compatible to combine WRT54G and this modem? Should i set it as bridge mode?

is it possible to find WRT54G v3 and below in lowyat plaza? cause, i found a custom fw that is compatible with xlink kai(online gaming with adhoc to my psp) and the problem here is it only support up to v3. I looked at wiki, current version for wrt54g is v8.. so, is it possible to find v3 below in lowyat?

The WRT54G doesn't have any overheating issue but he was just recommending to play safe if you are going to leave it on 24/7 by adding a cooling fan or something to keep the temperature lower.

Can WRT54GS v1.1 flashed with DD-WRT. This router to be used only a access point connected to a Dlink Router modem 504T.

And can with the DDWRT firmware i control the bandwidth of the client internet speed ? to restrict bittorrent ?

possible to set the maximum download speed and upload in term of kbps for a specific ip ?

example set the download speed and uploadspeed 50/20kbps for 192.168.1.66
