you can it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G ......
for the hang issue.. maybe he/she didn`t set the maximum ip port and the timeout....
for me and most of us here... have no problem with hang and not stable issue after doing that setting and flashed to dd-wrt....

just bought WRT54G this afternoon, but not sure what version it is?
Installed and tested with vista... its running fine.. but i not getting 'exelent' status. i get 'good' only.. which is, i get 3/5 bar.. how to configure that thing..???

Ermm.. actually, i need to flash the firmware.. but need to check the version first.
get your router serial number prefix first.... below your router should have it..
then check the version here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G

Are there any detail guides on setting wrt54g to act as router mode? After connection, the gateway appeared isn't 192.168.1.2 but it begins with 219.Suppose to be the one we set in the first page, right? Thanks.
*
first of all.. gateway is the medium that you use to connect to outer world..
so if you use your router to dail the adsl....
gateway will begin with 219.,218,60....

if you connect the router to the modem and ask the modem to dail the adsl...
then the gateway will follow the ip set by the modem.....

set the wrt54g as router mode..
just go setup>basic setup ... change the connection type to automatic configure - DHCP... remember to change the settings inside your modem, enable DHCP and disable bridge mode...

Thanks, will give it a try.By the way,we no need to enable DHCP server on wrt54g if want to use in router mode, right?Just don't understand why my old notebook can connect the wireless network can connect the wireless network while new one can't.Both also using WPA2.Thanks.
*
you must enable the DHCP on the wrt54g side...
if not your computer can`t get an ip from the router..
unless you set it manually... sweat.gif

first one is mini version.. then standard version....

i'm using WRT54G v2.2 with Firmware Version: v4.30.5

what's so interesting about this DDD-WRT firmware?

is DD-WRT....
it is third party firmware which can use almost all linksys range router....

well i can say that it have lots of features that linksys original firmware doesn`t have it and it solve the hang done by bit torrent...

O... but my WRT54G still have warranty... so will not change the filmware first... but is it really that good this filmware??
*
is depends on your usage...
if you still wanna your router in warranty.. no matter how good is the 3rd party firmware.. you will not flash it on warranty period.....

for me it is good as my router won`t really go heywire all the time and more features compared to the original firmware...
