I have WRT54GS v1.1 and was using the original firmware.
Last night downloaded dd-wrt.v23 standard version. and i flashed my router with
dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gs.bin because the file name matches my modem model. I have read all the readme files before flashing. But after reading it again i realise this:
QUOTE
Linksys WRT54G/GS (any version) flashing notes:
for upgrading from original linksys firmware, please use the generic mini version
and flash it from web interface.
after this first flashing you can upgrade to any other distribution too. for webinterface
flashing just use always the included generic binaries. the rest is only made for tftp upgrades
So did i flash it wrongly? It's stated there use always the included generic binaries.
There is a dd-wrt.v23_generic.bin in the zip file but why is there a dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gs.bin ? Btw, what is the difference between mini and standard version?
Any c_fu out there can guide me with the proper step to flash it? Btw, i already flash again to dd-wrt.v23_generic.bin from the wrt.v23_wrt54gs.bin firmware. Will using the "wrong" firmware damage my router? can i go back to Linksys' original firmware just in case i want it in the future?
