Basically it isn't really overclocking but if you increase the Xmit power, more heat would be generated so to be safe you can add in a cooling fan to keep the temperature lower.

To sum it up, best to go with WRT54GL with more RAM memory compared to the other WRT54G family. Well, it can't exactly limit the bandwidth but more to giving priority to a specific application.

Yes the free version does not have the feature to control a specific amount of bandwidth for each PC.

QUOTE(sheeeng @ Apr 26 2007, 09:21 PM) I have original WRT54GC. Locate the reset button at the back of your router, then press and hold it until all the LEDs light up then only release the button. But how to perform a hard reset to change it back to default password? I do not seem to get the reset working. Anyone can teach me? Thanks! |

QUOTE(joylay83 @ Apr 27 2007, 10:11 PM) I have a WRT54GL. wondering there is a difference if i flash micro, mini, standard, voip, vpn version of dd-wrt. i am not talking in terms of features, but router load, ping times, etc. anyone knows? About router load, I currently have experience with Standard and Mini version of DD-WRT and the Standard has a slightly higher load than Mini maybe due to more features in it. In terms of ping times, no difference can be seen. |

QUOTE(Algojo @ Apr 28 2007, 07:37 AM) i have a question let say i have wired connection that connect me to the LAN and i have a wrt54g flashed with dd-wrt23 running in client mode for TMNET wireless connection. If i want to connect simultaneously both wifi and wired connection how am i need to configure the routing tables. Let say bt using wifi and http using wired LAN I don't understand why you would want to configure the routing tables ? Wireless LAN and wired LAN would be to run at the same time unless you are talking about you want a single PC to use wireless LAN for P2P usage while HTTP browsing will be using wired LAN ? |

QUOTE(spacepilot @ May 6 2007, 11:10 AM) frust with this dd-wrt f/w. not reliable. I read your previous post where you stated you were running BT at the same time. I wonder have you raised the max TCP connections allowed ? Also, make sure your QoS settings are fine tuned with your connection's capabilities. Why cannot ping to gateway and get about 90% loss. Browser page load very slow, have to wait 1min even with QOS enable. |

QUOTE(asellus @ Aug 20 2007, 06:48 PM) I tried using DD-WRT a couple of years back, did the stability problems that forced me to restart the router every week or so has been resolved? Anyone here can get long uptimes under heavy P2P load without hanging? Yes, if you searched through this topic I posted one of my screenshot that had over a month of uptime without restarting and I am using Linksys WRT54GS v4. Still going strong at the moment. |

QUOTE(asellus @ Aug 20 2007, 08:28 PM) Hmmm... just installed DD-WRT v23 SP2, and will see whether the stability has improved. Yes it is different, read this for more information on it.edit: What is that RP PPPoE thing? Different from the normal PPPoE? QUOTE(vincent_ng86 @ Aug 21 2007, 08:37 AM) Preflash means when you bought the router it was already flashed with DD-WRT firmware. |

QUOTE(kingmax @ Aug 28 2007, 06:51 PM) Now which WRT54GL version works the best ? Saw at wiki there are 2 version 1.0 and 1.1 how do I know which version of it ? I am quite sure when i look at the WRT54G box , it didn't show the version. Actually both versions are the same and have no major changes. Technical specs are the same as well. You can determine for both this versions by looking at the serial number on the box. If the first 4 of the serial number starts with CL7A then it is version 1.0 and if it is CL7B then it is a version 1.1.Right now , how can I sure which version for WRT54GL ? |

Just make sure to configure the ports for the services like if you select a bulk priority for P2P, do enter which port you are using for P2P.

QUOTE(kitsuna @ Jan 23 2008, 11:18 PM) Could someone help me how to cure WHR-G54S hanging while P2P after quite some times? Sometimes, it is not all about whether you set the setting of the max part to the max or not but it is more to whether the router is capable to handle so many connections at one time. My guess here is that your torrent is creating so many connections that the router's RAM memory tends to reduce until it hangs.Mine on v23sp2 micro usually hangs up around 12hrs. mini & std are even worst, hanging just few hrs. Already change setting like Max Ports = 4096 & TCP/UDP Timeout = 90sec The same setting have been used on WRT54GSv6 but dont have any problem with hangs up (the longest uptime is almost 1 month while P2P 24/7) :/ Also tried hard reset than reflash, but the problem still there.... |

Yes, each router has different amount of RAM memory, I guess you are just over-stressing the memory of your router thus it hangs.
