dd-wrtv24 build 19/8/2006 has better wireless transmitting capability. Wireless status page show 0 Tx error compared to last build (tested using 2/8/2006) which has around 5000+ packet error after 1 minute up time...

i am using 3 wrt54gl with dd-wrt and WDS (32+ users
Last week i tried tweaking one of my GL. Installed an old vga heatsink a top the broadcom chip, and make a big hole on router's body for 4inch fan..the main router is running on 300mhz (overclocked) and 75mW Txpower... i really hope it can hold up well... |

actually it was easy to open up linksys wrt54gl router...u don't even have to use screwdriver. Just press firmly on the bottom part of the router (black color part) and u can slide the purple color part to open the casing. Just make sure u take off both the antenna b4 u slide the thing, bcoz it will brake the antenna connector on the board...
the electronic board inside the router only occupied half of the casing and got plenty of space to put modding thing inside it...with proper instrument like micro-soilder u can even change the memory chips to higher one. It uses normal hynix ddr400 memory chip... well that will be next project which i intend to do, anyone interested to join-venture with me can pm me for more detail... EDIT : saw one shop at sunway pyramid IT centre selling wrt54gl at rm240 and wrt54gs at rm260. They also have 7dbi rubber antenna sell at rm160 per pair.. one quick Question here...i read through the SD mod link at dd-wrt forum but that one i understand using OpenWRT firmware, and we need to install somekind of driver first before enable to access the SD space...
btw, in dd-wrt do we need to do that manually? I came accross SD Card option somewhere in Administration Option in GUI... thanks in advance... |

yeap...best solution is by implimenting some sort of passive heatsink on the broadcom chip...
any old VGA heatsink will do the job, but if u can managed to put some fan into it, would be better... |

QUOTE(prasys @ Oct 2 2006, 03:42 PM) 240Mhz , well I could go up to 270Mhz. But I dont want to take the risk , I would need a fan to be installed on top of the heatsink and i would need to place few more heatsinks on the Wireless chip. last time with v23sp1 i tried OC to 300Mhz (with passive heatsink). Managed to run full time for 1 weeks b4 upgrade to sp2. v23sp2 only support up to 250Mhz and running fine until now...This post has been edited by azmihamzah: Oct 3 2006, 06:26 PM |

for me i change the max ip connection to 2000...bcoz i exprienced that whenever the ip connection exceed 2000 the router will hanged bcoz no memory left to be used although i set it up to 4096...
btw, my network consists of 32 users...whenever bt port is allowed the ip will hit above 2000. so i need to block all p2p ports for smooth connections..wonder if SD card mod will solve this... QUOTE(b****slapjackass @ Oct 6 2006, 04:15 PM) Hi everybody, I need help with my streamyx connection. Here's the situation: did u reset ur modem to bridge mode?I upgraded to the WRT54GS v.4 yesterday. Today I installed DD-WRT firmware v23 sp2 mini. I plug in the modem, etc. After I selected PPPOE and entered my streamyx login and password, I still cannot get online. Rebooting the router and turn off/on the modem didn't help. What seems to be the problem? Also what's the best settings for BitComet and emule? Thanks for the help! Posts merged. anyone knows how to set wrt54gl with dd-wrt so it can act as repeater. I know there are bridge and client and WDS but what i need is purely repeating mode...
perhaps with OpenWRT it can be done? |

QUOTE(DeLarafi @ Nov 1 2006, 02:00 PM) anyone know how to setup the chilispot?? have you try worldspot service?kindda confuse with radius server and chilispot dns server. anybody ahve try this thing b4... read the ddwrt and chilispot site.. but it seem it make me more confuse. http://worldspot.net maybe you can start by using free hotspot (radius) service before setting up your own radius server. ***************************************************** anyone heard about running dd-wrt on x86 based pc? has anyone try the sd mod for WRT54GL. I has been searching around and found that for WRT54GLversion 1.1 or WRT54Gver 4, it uses GPIO2 instead of GPIO5 (for WRT54Gv4<) and need some modification inside the MMC driver code.
Can the default MMC driver from dd-wrt v23 sp2 do both GPIO2 and GPIO5 or i need to configure it manually? If possible i want to clarify things first before start soildering on the board. |
