Hi, my friend recommended that I try collagen drinks, but I don't know which brand is good. Do you have any suggestion or recommendation, how do you feel after you drink it?

No, collagen food supplements is no better at making your skin better than any kind of protein food source. Collagen is produced in your body, if you consume collagen, it will be broken down into amino acids and reconstructed again into *maybe* collagen, or it can be stored as fat, and some collagen products may not even be halal. What you need is a wholesome diet, keep your skin moisturized.

Dishes which are naturally rich in collagen such as pigs trotters, shark fin and chicken skin have also soared in popularity...
...eating collagen is no more effective an anti-ageing method than consuming any other protein-rich food.

applying collagen cream to skin will not make it any smoother, because collagen is produced inside the body and not absorbed through skin.

I am just providing information that taking collagen supplements is a very expensive and not necessarily effective way of maintaining skin complexion. Having a high protein diet serves the same purpose for a much cheaper price, and you get overall nutrition.

If your skin is not in a good condition, try the following care methods:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, direct or diffused (no more than 30 minutes)
- Have a healthy diet
- Exercise
- Keep your skin clean and moisturized
- Avoid friction and stress

I heard that there are 2 types of collagen.

Type 1: When you stop consuming, skin is maintained as how it is after consuming a period of time.

Type 2: When you stop consuming, skin will go back to how it used to be before you started consuming.

I believe (based on logic), that if we go for fruit based (antioxidant) collagen, then it would be type 1.
But if we go for marine collagen, then it would be type 2.

Not sure if my theory is right? haha.
hope to learn more about collagen too!

The best one now is Milcolla by Suntory Japan, also recommended by the famous taiwanese tv show 女人我最大.

I think that makes sense, I read this article - http://cosmedmd.blogspot.com/2012/09/colla...eally-work.html - so I have been wondering. I have a cousin who drinks pretty much any kind of collagen drink, she is obsessed with them! She says her skin looks and feels a lot better now that she is drinking them, and her face always feels dry and flaky if she didn't drink any that day. I don't think that's how it would work, it's not like skincare that gets absorbed into the skin as soon as you put it on!

If it was true that eating pigs trotters can give you better skin, how come we Chinese don't age as well as Koreans and Japanese? Doesn't make sense, right?

I highly doubt Koreans age better than the Chinese. Have you seen how haggard their old people are? Japanese do have a much better diet though, all that anti-oxidizing stuff like miso and green tea and all that Omega 3 and 6 from seafood. Is it any surprise they have the longest life span? AND they're smart too!

I've been selling collagen jelly for a few months now and most of my customers eats it because they say it reduces arthritis pain. As for beauty, so far I hadn't came across one who says it helps or saw any results.

As for skincare, s2peMocls is right; collagen proteins are generally too large for the skin to absorb, the only real way for collagen to help your skin is to inject it.
