News about walled gardens:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2...2%80%99s+Kindle Amazon remotely wipes woman’s Kindle ONLINE BOOKSELLER Amazon reportedly has remotely wiped a woman's Kindle and sent her an email recommending that she choose another retailer. A blog post by Norwegian media commentator Martin Bekkelund claims that a friend of his, also from Norway, is the victim. Amazon has not confirmed the report, but we have asked it to comment. The blog post says that the woman, identified only as Linn, found that her Kindle and account had been wiped with no warning. When she approached Amazon to find out why, it did not explain itself very well and recommended that she find another retailer where she might find more satisfaction. "We have found your account is directly related to another which has been previously closed for abuse of our policies. As such, your Amazon.co.uk account has been closed and any open orders have been cancelled," said the first response. Linn pushed for more information but didn't get any, and was brushed off instead. "We regret that we have not been able to address your concerns to your satisfaction. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any additional insight or action on these matters," she was told. "We wish you luck in locating a retailer better able to meet your needs and will not be able to offer any additional insight or action on these matters." In the UK the Pirate Party was more sympathetic, saying that this is just the sort of thing we should expect from an industry reliant on digital rights management. "This highlights the dangers with DRM. When you buy a product with DRM you haven't really bought it because the supplier can take it away from you at any time," said Pirate Party spokesperson Andy Robinson. "Similarly, when you buy a locked down device such as Amazon's Kindle or Apple's Iphone or Ipad, you're never in control. Let the buyer beware." µ The Inquirer (http://s.tt/1qLHi) |

Just 2 questions:
1. Many many fruit users always post asking how to swap their data over. Therefore, does this indicate that, due to the excellent curated user experience by their overlord, they never even bother to backup? Follow on question is of course how many users (of all phone types, crApple, Android, Symbian etc) ever backed up their data? 2. The barrage of repeated newbie questions about the simplest of things. Does this indicate a deeper problem with the way our general population is trained? And even when given the answer straight in the face, they still say they are confused due to the many references. I thought a good tertiary education trained you to conduct and perform cross referencing and indexing. Just some rambling from me. |

It is the soft TPU, but well made, and has a flush form fitting plug on top that plugs in to your earphone jack, and another one at the bottom plugging in to the usb port. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Ignore the large black patch on the casing. It's a velco strip I stuck on for use on my velcro mounting plate. |

QUOTE(Force_Ming @ Oct 24 2012, 12:11 PM) QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Oct 24 2012, 12:24 PM) I've been bz most of the day, just saw ForceMing's test results. It looks like he's using an iPad to perform the timing test. I have 2 questions. The first timing, was it done by testing the transfer time of the INTERNAL CARD of the IPAD ITSELF? Otherwise , was the ipad merely used as a start/stop timer? The 2nd slower (I believe it's showing a longer time in hh:mm:ss format) test, was it done using the microsd SLOTTED INTO the device, or was it via a converter via the device USB port? (and was it done on the Note2 or done on a reader connected to ipad?) Question 2 is important, because the transfer speed is affected by the translator chip in the read/write device. If the attached read/write device has a slow translator chip, your speeds are screwed no matter how fast your card is. So if the microsd was tested INSIDE THE SLOT of the Note2, and it's showing such bad speeds, it's due to the translator chip that Samsung used. IF it was tested in a READER connected to a usb cable, the READER's chip is slow and therefore we need another test. Appreciate answers to this since many of us have gotten the 64Gb supposedly 30mbps transfer speed. Note that the Exynos is an SOC with stacked memory on the same silicon, so I believe the onboard 16/32/64 will always be very fast, but I don't have the numbers offhand. Perhaps up to 95mb/s? Still at work, anyone can check the numbers? |

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Oct 24 2012, 10:35 PM) jail break today so easy. Just run app click one button. I still see people let shop to do they charge RM30 - RM50 I'm sure Apple has done such a wonderful job of instilling loyalty in their user base that everything needs to go to somebody who knows the "dark arts" to relieve them of their hard earned cash. |

QUOTE(paul5005 @ Oct 25 2012, 12:48 AM) Guys...anyone can tell whats is the diff in term of real usage of class 10 vs class 4 sd card? is the performance significant? I found the price is about RM30 different...sandisk RM90(32GB C4), RM120(32GB, C10). Sifu plz advice....cos i'm using an old sd card 8GB C4 n found tat whenver i try to share any pic...it takes some time to load the gallery... I'm no expert, but I recall reading last year in Note1 thread, and it was probably also uncle benny who highlighted it, that Class 4 supposedly is good enough for Android performance.I also remember reading an article on Anandtech (famous hardcore hardware review site) about comparisons of write speeds. The quoted speed class is sustained write ie writing a single large file contiguously so a 10 beats a 4 in those cases. However, in Android, the majority of write activity is random small writes of 4k to 512k. In this area, performance of both class 4 and class 10 are almost equal. And furthermore some forumer posted yesterday about the class 10 having fairly cacat speed. I asked for a second opinion but haven't gotten any one else's reply yet. Anyway, I'm also holding out for a little price reduction before getting a 64Gb, and I'll still be reading up to see what happens. YMMV. This post has been edited by joytest: Oct 25 2012, 01:08 AM |
