YouTube connections to US has been Unthrottle.
Torrents has been Unthrottled.
flv, avi & all other movies file extension has been Unthrottle.

Please confirm?

Are they doing some upgrade that cause them to remove their throttled system?, Finally decided to come to their sense and stop cheating their streamyx customers? or just gave up on streamyx to "what ever will be will be"...

Un-popular Youtube Video (not cached in youtube MY yet), before throttle at 50KB/s(500kbps in youtube stats calculation) but now:

Well then i think i need to monitor for 1 week to be sure. because it may be many reason why it's working as i stated in my first post:

A) TM doing some upgrade that cause them to remove their throttled system.
B) TM finally decided to come to their sense and stop cheating their streamyx customers.
C) TM just gave up on streamyx to "what ever will be will be"...
D) TM might be doing a survey to test stuff.
E) Maybe they decided to put some happy hours or happy days in a week.

I m experiencing the same thing, unthrottled. But in my case is like, i turn off my modem every night, a morning 2 days ago, i turn on my router and i suddenly feel like trying torrent download and the speed is magically max (used to be throttled). It lasted for 2 days, this morning it goes back to throttled state again sad.gif I have tried the same seed that hit the max speed yesterday evening and it seems like throttled now.

the answer will be A

because this isn't the first time they temporary lift the throttle system

they maybe doing an upgrade or maintenance and need to lift the throttle

I bet this only lasts for 1-2weeks, you maybe still having the unthrottle connection after they start throttle back, until you restarted/reconnect ur connection sad.gif

so far as I know since I became 4Mbps user, they lift the throttle got 3 times already, each time only last like 1-3 weeks

unfortunately, when throttled, even you got good or very well seeded torrent also difficult to hit maximum speed,

as for 1m u will very difficult hit higher than 25kB/s , for 4m average 30-40kB/s

unless you connected to a single or 2 or few seeder/peer by chance those have very high upload speed

then you can hit maximum speed, but only from 1-3 seeders, other connected seed/peer only 0-1kB/s to you

if the streamyx is unthrottled, even the torrent only has okay number of seeder and peer, you can very easily hit maximum speed in just a minute

and you will see usually have 10-30 seeds and peers connected each seed/peer upload at least 10kB/s to you

so you always get a good or max speed even with just "Okay" seeded torrent.

examples:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Obviously, you can see the big difference at the peer list, the leech speed

When TM lifts the p2p throttle, without VPN, you get the same result as the VPN Enabled

yeap, port opened and login with my long time created id,

was a bitcomet user few years ago sad.gif

btw it's only good for china/taiwan/hk trackers

for western countries tracker not good, utorrent is better

by the way, TM in my location is doing upgrades, got their calls at office and workplace (512k and 1Mbps), say we may face service interruption during this time, and really got random dsl disconnection today

but my home 4Mbps not affected, I bet the throttle is lifted because of this upgrade exercise

If they are doing upgrades in a certain area that still does not explain the lift of throttle system in many states like JB, penang and KL all have been unthrottled...

I did not test the connection at the workplace so dont know if it is throttled

check your workplace torrents and Inteenational conenctioon speed with the ip range you get there.
it might be on certain accounts, areas, specific IPs or IP ranges....

Added on October 24, 2012, 10:16 pmAfter i posted my above post then around 8:30+ throttle started back on my line with the same IP i have been having for weeks... torrent, international youtube vids & direct download for video extension files were throttle to back 50kb/s so i finally decided to restart my modem then:

First new IP (after restart) was unthrottled for 20sec then it went back to being throttle.
Second IP (after using modem reconnect feature) same as the first IP
Third IP (should be fourth IP [censored due to TM spyies biggrin.gif ] ) so far unthrottle for now.

I'm guessing it might be a maintenance for throttle system after all
or.... one of the moderators here might be working for TM and decided to just add my ip back to the throttle list (but now i'm on socks proxy) tongue.gif

4Mbps here

same as usual, throttled

same as u

all green light, well port forwarded
utorrent,
speed not quite ok, but at least can up to 80kB/s, average 20 kB/s

bitcomet, with LTS Enabled
worse than utorrent, not moving at all

but with VPN Enabled,
speeds came back instantly... doh.gif

utorrent - hits max in less than a min.

doh.gif this has already proven, Streamyx p2p throttling being lifted happens randomly and temporary, and not really nationwide.
still VPN always works for bypassing this doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Last night Nov 04

P2P Throttle lifted ? hmm.gif

with VPN disabled, tried many different torrent with very well seed and low seeds, no matter what torrent I'm try to download, as long as the torrent has ok seed and peer, the speed hit max in less than 30sec, and all the time constantly max until the torrent completed.
notworthy.gif

not sure if it's just bugged or they really lifted, I don't really want to lost this IP address yet,

will report back after i got disconnected or restarted modem with different IP address notworthy.gif

Simply try to download a file via http from a known US, Europe and Asian server outside Malaysia.

It seems that they are at it again throttling international connections to something close to 1-2mbps now even Unifi connections affected too.

TM is at it again this time trying to implement some throttling mechanism deep inside their core network servers.

Everytime they attempt to do this without public knowldge it always ends up this way.

I don't understand why they keep buying anti P2P, DPI or load balancing solutiions from those vendors when they always end up crippling their network instead. Buy something that is supposed to help save them more bandwidth end up making customers more angry.

They seems to have somesort of speed monitoring system to check your traffic activity. I've been getting top speed for the past few mths on my 1mbps package. After consistently downloading large file , i start to get low speed once in a while. Speed that will eventually run capped at 40kbps-50kbps. But during morning and after midnite, speed will suddenly be lifted and everything runs at top.

Well mine got throttled back on nov 1st 12am along with most of my friends so it might have been a maintenance after all... If you guys want to test if your throttled or not i have set up a site to compare the download speed between US and MY tm only throttle International connection so what ever speed you get from the MY link is your true speed:
http://downloadfiletest.tk/
during the time when it was un-throttled for me both US and MY speed were same.

HTTP downloads are never throttled. Further the distance, lower the speed.

You are wrong, the week before when i was un-throttled .flv from us speed was a straight up 540-620KB/s but now during the day or peak hour it's 20-60KB/s and after 12am to 8am or non peak hour it's 200KB/s.
You need a 4mbps line to notice the different.

I don't think TM throttles traffic other than p2p, some ppl have slower speed, it should be routing issue to different servers,

I agreed with that smile.gif

I think you misunderstood because i forgot to say certain Extension Throttle, sorry. That is why i setup this site to compare the different extension speed between US and Malaysia http://downloadfiletest.tk/

.FLV on from US (THROTTLED):

.FLV on from Malaysia (MAX SPEED):

Perhaps problem comes from where are you downloading from? (the servers?)

Sorry for interfering guys,

I just got a Boleh VPN, may i know what are the speed you guys are receiving by using Boleh VPN on 4MB Connection?

Additionally,
Im just trying to figure out how do they throttle the connection?
I tried login to my friends unthrottled 1MB, seems performing slow as well. (less than 10kb/s)

And people who get throttled, are you still tied under contract of the package?

There are some are not throttled, are you still in contract?

almost constantly speed 475-500kB/s shown on utorrent actual speed being used is 500-565kB/s shown on bandwidth monitor

TM detects a user's connection if there are any p2p traffic ongoing, and makes it lowest priority,
i don't know clients other than utorrent, the difference I can see is even you are downloading from a heathly seeded tracker, you connected to many seeds and peers, but it's extremely low from every user,
it's like connected but get no speed from most of the available seed and peer.

like 1-5kB/s or 0.xkB/s or zero, it's difficult to get over 25kB/s total speed.
if you are lucky, connected to few seed and peer that has ultra high speed upload speed seeding, then you can have high speed from just one or few more users only

in short, you started a torrent task, no matter how long you wait, it still stays at low speed.

how when it's unthrottled,
as usual, you connect to many seeds and peers, you got the speed from most seed and peer. at least 20 above,
then you get high possible speed from many users.

in short, you started a torrent task, speed raises fast to max in just a minute.

VPN encrypts ur connection traffics, TM's p2p throttle system couldn't tell if that's p2p traffic, so the throttle will not work.

not everyone is being throttled, but most, depend on areas, certain ip ranges, or a maintenance is in progress so they temporary lift the throttle system.

if you weren't talking about p2p torrent throttle, i don't really think they do throttle others, the slow issues should be just normal routing issues
