They seems to have somesort of speed monitoring system to check your traffic activity. I've been getting top speed for the past few mths on my 1mbps package. After consistently downloading large file , i start to get low speed once in a while. Speed that will eventually run capped at 40kbps-50kbps. But during morning and after midnite, speed will suddenly be lifted and everything runs at top.

Well mine got throttled back on nov 1st 12am along with most of my friends so it might have been a maintenance after all... If you guys want to test if your throttled or not i have set up a site to compare the download speed between US and MY tm only throttle International connection so what ever speed you get from the MY link is your true speed:
http://downloadfiletest.tk/
during the time when it was un-throttled for me both US and MY speed were same.

HTTP downloads are never throttled. Further the distance, lower the speed.

You are wrong, the week before when i was un-throttled .flv from us speed was a straight up 540-620KB/s but now during the day or peak hour it's 20-60KB/s and after 12am to 8am or non peak hour it's 200KB/s.
You need a 4mbps line to notice the different.

I don't think TM throttles traffic other than p2p, some ppl have slower speed, it should be routing issue to different servers,

I agreed with that smile.gif

.FLV on from Malaysia (MAX SPEED):

Perhaps problem comes from where are you downloading from? (the servers?)

Sorry for interfering guys,

I just got a Boleh VPN, may i know what are the speed you guys are receiving by using Boleh VPN on 4MB Connection?

Additionally,
Im just trying to figure out how do they throttle the connection?
I tried login to my friends unthrottled 1MB, seems performing slow as well. (less than 10kb/s)

And people who get throttled, are you still tied under contract of the package?

There are some are not throttled, are you still in contract?

almost constantly speed 475-500kB/s shown on utorrent actual speed being used is 500-565kB/s shown on bandwidth monitor

TM detects a user's connection if there are any p2p traffic ongoing, and makes it lowest priority,
i don't know clients other than utorrent, the difference I can see is even you are downloading from a heathly seeded tracker, you connected to many seeds and peers, but it's extremely low from every user,
it's like connected but get no speed from most of the available seed and peer.

like 1-5kB/s or 0.xkB/s or zero, it's difficult to get over 25kB/s total speed.
if you are lucky, connected to few seed and peer that has ultra high speed upload speed seeding, then you can have high speed from just one or few more users only

in short, you started a torrent task, no matter how long you wait, it still stays at low speed.

how when it's unthrottled,
as usual, you connect to many seeds and peers, you got the speed from most seed and peer. at least 20 above,
then you get high possible speed from many users.

in short, you started a torrent task, speed raises fast to max in just a minute.

VPN encrypts ur connection traffics, TM's p2p throttle system couldn't tell if that's p2p traffic, so the throttle will not work.

not everyone is being throttled, but most, depend on areas, certain ip ranges, or a maintenance is in progress so they temporary lift the throttle system.

if you weren't talking about p2p torrent throttle, i don't really think they do throttle others, the slow issues should be just normal routing issues
