Let Me Start Off :-

1) You should start having threads about the POTENTIAL vacation spot in malaysia.

eg
i) Pulau Redang + Lang Tengah + Pulau Perhentian
ii) Pulau Langkawi
iii) Pulau Pinang
iv) Tioman
v) Mount Kinabalu

2) In the threads members and mods can post about the various things about the place. and you can also prepare some packages for the members to choose and thus they dont have to post irrelevant things.

3) Threads that should be pinned

i) how to get to KLIA cheapest ? (done)
ii) Currency Exchange
iii) travelling tips (done)
iv) Cybercafes

thats my 2 cts worth

I'm having hard time finding the area I want. Once I posted a thread about Gold Coast Australia, and it was merge into Australia thread, end up no response or should I say less responsoe. Even if there are, it will be messy, as I need to read through entire thread to get the responses meant for my question etc

I would suggest we could have a subforum divided into continents/countries. The in this forum, we could have specific thread for specific state/places for that particular continents/countries.

E.g.

Lowyat.NET -> Lifestyle -> Travel & Living -> Australia -> Gold Coast
Lowyat.NET -> Lifestyle -> Travel & Living -> Australia -> Melbourne
Lowyat.NET -> Lifestyle -> Travel & Living -> Australia -> Great Ocean Road
Lowyat.NET -> Lifestyle -> Travel & Living -> Australia -> Sydney

try using the search key function to search for your desired thread. I've tried suggesting to the staff of this forum to create sub forums but the feedback i got was, creating a subforum will slow down the traffic here due to multiple clicking to get to the desired topics. Instead they've introduced tagging system so u can tag ur topic and filtering topics as u desired to see them (events, travel, food)

As stated above ^^ i did the merging, perhaps i should stop doing so much of it. next time u can stress in the first post that u do not wish ur topic to be merged so i won't merge them in any way thumbup.gif The world is very big so it is tough to create so many sub forums for all the areas, As lowyat.net is not mainly a travel forum. But anyhow I will keep this things in mind, perhaps in near future we can do something about. thanks for the suggestions.

Hi, Perhaps categorize as Countries is pretty tedious, how bout by Continents? E.g.
Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Then those general living & travel one will be at the main forum.

Just a suggestion though...

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned about the attitude of our taxi drivers in Malaysia.

They can just simply refuse to take you to the destination if it's not profitable for them - for example, traffic too congested/too far away, or charge you a very high rate for that (instead of using the meter).

And worse, the way they reject also seems rude, some of them just shake their head without even looking at your face, some of them don't bother you at all.

It leaves a very very bad impression to tourists actually.

I've tried suggesting it to the staff. Creating a sub sub forum for different continents will deter readers from browsing through so many different pages. I guess the tagging system will help for now smile.gif

that's correct. i have myself experienced a lot of time. the driver normally refuses to take you to the place that unconvenient for him just by shaking head shakehead.gif , or asking for stupid price ( 12rm from bkt bingtang to klcc, normally around 4rm vmad.gif ).
but the worst thing is there are lots of cheaters. i dont know what they heve done with the meter, but it runs like a horse and sometimes "jumps" directly mad.gif .
however, after 4years living here, now i get used to it already brows.gif , but definitely,its bring a very, very bad impression to foreigners.

Do never used motorcycle service in Pulau Pangkor from the 'ulat' in Lumut Jetty, you pay for Rm 25 for a day and the motorcycle is really bad and old, no oil when you get it, it's break also loose, "too many gegaran pada motor, helmet tiada tali, can see inside the helmet, hitam macam ader kulat", the best thing, even you used gear 1 in the "jalan berbukit", the motorcycle always die happily, and even someone that jogging in that area will past you, or maybe a monkey also? .. this apply to every motorcycle that park in front of Jetty Pangkor except from the resort one ..

Really upset when using it ...

You can have the good motorcycle from the resort or chalet you lived. Cheap and worth .. trust me .. laugh.gif

I have complain about the Swiss Garden Vacation Club. Since joint the SGVC at an platinuim member last year, we though we will have a privileage and will be easy get the hotel rooms when we want to have a holiday but it is not what we think. We unable to get any room at their own resort although we book it a month early. We submit booking for three rooms at their Kuantan Swiss Garden resort for the date 26 of May and check out on 27 of May, through their SGVC online booking on April 26. The SGVC replied that the allocated room are fully booked and when we called their customer services, they mention we may need to book the room six month in advance. I thought shit, what is point of joining their SVG club if I need to make a booking six month in advance. And when my sister (not a SGVC member) make a booking for a room at the same resort on 14 of May for the same day, 26 of May, she get the room. The SVGC only reserved a few room for SVGC member and although there are still room available, it is for public. We wrote a complain letter to them and there is no replied at all. Here I like to highligh to you that you don't have to become SGVC member (cost you around RM20K to RM30K) and you can still get the rooms at their resort.
Regret now.

Usually for timeshare / membership, you really do have to book way in advance. However, your 1 month leadtime is very reasonable already. From various complaints I read on SGIVC mostly are due to short leadtime bookings/ surchage issues, but I guess this case its really too much, considering you are staying at their hotel (not affiliate).

My advise to forummers also is be mindful when you want to engage in timeshare/memberships because most hotels will always have limited quota for "special price" rooms. The benefits are attractive but usually difficult to enjoy all, if not most of the benefits also.

Maybe cwwong can complain at their sales office instead of write-in, and request for some form of compensation.

Or sell the membership *ahem*

Thanks for you advice.
We contact the Sales guys (Manager) that sell us the SGVC and promise to look into ours complaint but until now he also have not call us yet. I think he also can't do anything and dare not call us back. We intend to send another nasty letter to their CEO directly.

Added on May 22, 2007, 6:21 pmUntil now there is still no respond from SGVC sale departement after send few email to them.
A letter together with all the complaint's email have been printed out send to their CEO by hand yesterday. Still waiting for their CEO respond.

Hi everyone, I have also became a member of the SGIVC timeshare scheme in July.

Just wanna ask a question. I understand that we can sell our membership after 1 year joining, but is it just that simple?

P/S: I know that the rules and regulations are all in the agreement booklet, but I just find it too hard to understand.

not sure about selling... my mum joint the club. many had called her up to ask her if she wants to sell her entitlement, which is weird why is there so many request/demand for her to sell..

anyway i heard they are closing some of the operation office. just received and sms (from a 013 number) not yet call up and ask if it is a scam or what....

my experience in staying in swiss garden kuantan, they give you rooms that are not of the best quality.. garden view.. standard room.. so i feel there is nothing really great about that.. unless u travel extensively, no point joining a vacation club

Yah I have received the same sms on the 15/9/07. But if it's true, why are they closing some of the branches? does that mean that they are not profitting and have to close some branches in order to keep themselves alive?

Btw, how long has your mother joined the membership?

I will be paying for my 1st 2 instalments soon. After doing so, I may consider cancelling my membership if selling the membership is not viable. I would rather lose that deposit payment and the 2 months instalments than to lose out more in the future.
