Hey all, I'm looking to get a 19" widescreen LCD monitor (too poor to buy a 24") and connect it to my X360. I know several X360 owners here connect their X360 with their LCD monitors, so I have some questions to clear up before I take the plunge...

1) What do you use to connect your X360 to your monitor?? Seems that there are 3 ways: VGA cable, VGA box or TV Tuner. Is TV tuner really a good choice to connect your console to the monitor?

2) For widescreen, do you need to change any settings on the X360? I'm eyeing the VA1912wb which has a weird 16:10 aspect, so can the X360 support such a setting? Or must it strictly be 16:9 or 4:3??

3) Anyone know where I can get a VGA cable around here for the X360? laugh.gif

4) Oh, and since I'm doing this anyway, I might as well ask.....what the heck is that other cable (next to the X360 RCA cables) supposed to connect to?? tongue.gif I assume it's a HDTV connector, but I've honestly never seen one....so is it specifically for HDTVs only? Can this actually connect directly to LCD monitors by chance.....

5) I might as well add this one in just for the sake of it......

CRT or LCD? tongue.gif

p/s Most ppl claimed that the VGA cables causes the colors to be washed out. Since I connect using component, I don't know how true that is. U might wanna ask Zakaath, he connects using D-SUB inputs.

I think that's true for 3rd party VGA cable. Supposedly the official VGA cable is excellent. But the price is....aiyah....over RM100, which is quite pricey just for a cable....plus I don't think the official VGA cable is available around here.....

2005 FPW has S-video and Composite but no component. Want a component? Get yourself a Dell's 24" widescreen lcd..but add RM1k more for the additional 4  inches lol! laugh.gif

I'm using Tv card to play my PS2 using S-video input. Tried the direct S-video input from the monitor, but the picture is not that sharp if compared using thru tvcard + Dscaler software.

Interesting. I never would've thought that TV Tuner would be better than direct S-Video. laugh.gif

Compuzone listed it at RM1350...but then again that was early Feb price....

Waiting for shumaky's review of the Viewsonic VA1912W, it's about the same price but comes with free TV tuner.... smile.gif

Damn, every time I look at chin's pictures of the CMV I get soooo tempted to go out and buy it straight away laugh.gif

No more free TV Tuner? sad.gif

Credit card is always a hassle in small shops these days. Instead of getting a discount for paying with cash, these days you need to be charged an extra 3% or so just to cover their own credit card charges. Which is why I only use my cc in big shops and pay cash for others.

Credit card = convenience? Not in LYP mad.gif

Question...what cable do you use to connect your X360 to your 1912w? You said you're using Sub-D?

Damn.......buy this or GRAW + FNR3..... Decision time......

^ ya normal VGA cable coz the V1912W got DVI n VGA input so u can use bot at the same time n press the button (2) to switch between both displays..
Provided that your PC uses DVI then u can switch the inputs from the LCD itself.
IMHO, GET the V1912W n GRAW, the FNR3 can wait..

Official MS cable or 3rd party??

Yeah, I think I'll drop FNR3..... GRAW is just too tempting to drop.

Looks like March is instant noodles month for me laugh.gif

BTW, I'm reading reviews that say the VA1912W has some bleeding light issues.....do you have the same problems?

Is 4ms - 8ms that much different? I dunno, I read many opinions that say you won't see much difference between 4ms and 8ms, unless you have a super-sensitive eye.

Yes, direct cable is the best. I've been using the Dragon 3rd party VGA cable (got from Djinn) and it has so far been excellent for me. A little bit ghosting at first, but after a while I got used to it and it's really great. My VA1912w is loving it laugh.gif

Res is set at 1280x720, which is the 16:10 ratio that the VA1912w caters to.

Not really sure what caused the ghosting, but I'm just guessing that it's because my eyes is too used to watching DOA4 on the TV, and hasn't really adjusted to an LCD. Now I don't really feel there is any ghosting at all biggrin.gif The response time 8ms shouldn't be much of a problem, and the VGA cable has been great so far, colours are all nice and bright.
