Brother, (or sister)

First, the car haven't launch yet in Malaysia. Sure the price is not confirm yet.

I suspect they order MOQ of Mazda 3 from Japan, customized for Malaysian pricing and test run in Malaysia.

At the same time, outsourcing the specs locally for parts to be CKD.

The SA said is only 2.0

Hopefully is RM130k++ instead of RM153k..

If not, really crazy, I rather buy Accord with that price tag.

Bro & Sis,

M3 (2.0cc) is a C segment market.
M3 is M3 & it is always a M3.
It is NOT a transformer in anyway.

Bermaz is competing with others C segment.
As far as the competition is concern, so far T&H are leading the market,
established with many outlet & service centre nationwide.

Few things to consider, such as:
i) Mazda is a slow mover brand due to Msian lifestyle (fact)
ii) Poor Resell
iii) Limited service centre
iv) High spare parts price

Logically, if Bermaz quote RM147K to RM153K, the impact ll be:
i) M3 Killed by D segment (Camry & Accord) RM150K
ii) M3 killed by his own bro M6 (2.0) which also consider slow mover
iii) RM147K-RM153K, may be sold less then 10 units in a year but RM130K should be accepted but still hard to sell
iv) All New Altis 2.0 ll be launch Mac 2014 & with T logo.... I am sure it is a hot cake

My prediction
M3 ll be launched at RM130K but below RM135K, aft captured 1st round market, they ll drop below RM130K.
A year later, end 2014, CKD with lower tax structure (RM120K).....
That is the basic model for a simple PLC concept (Product Life Cycle)
Build Up Quality surely drop but RM13K is a huge amount

Never mindlah..

If really RM153k, then I just cancel the order.

More than RM 140k, I won't pay.

Probably the RM 153k got include the touch screen infotainment, which I don't really fancy it. smile.gif

Err...come to think about it, might be true though. Isnt the mazda 6 the most expansive japanese D segment? Spot on with continental rivals such as 508 & passat. Furthermore the mazda 3 at rm150k range will be full spec version compared to the closest mazda 6 2.0 which is lower spec/features.
The recent skyactive technology investment will surely be passed down to consumer.

2.0L Sedan = RM 159,440.20
2.5L Sedan = RM 189,711.30

All R&D cost ll b bear by consumers.
Example, when T & H invented their VVTi & VTec technologies.
T & H ll collected their R & D cost through worldwide outlet,
How many T & H outlet worldwide?
Contribution will be small amount
But......
When Proton invented their Campro & All New Model
Proton ll switch their R&D cost to be bear by consumers via their Proton Malaysia.
Unfortunately there is 1 & the only proton in the world, so that their cost ll be high.

Inspira VS Lancer (Main land Msia) = Inspira lower price bcoz tax for Lancer is high
If u put tax aside, such as Labuan & Langkawi or abroad
Inspira VS Lancer (Langkawi) = Lancer is much cheaper

Again, when we count on Mazda Skyactiv
It's Not Only In Msia but worldwide with open competition
So, the cost for R&D for skyactive but cost share by Mazda worldwide
Conclusion, price very competative

CBU = Lower cost due to mass production but tax made it expensive
CKD = Buy components & assemble (lower tax to reduce the price & the build up quality as well).

C Segment for Japanese car, price is from RM100K-RM130K (eveident : Altis, Civic, M3, K3, Elantra)
D Segment for Japanese car, range is from RM140K-RM185K (Accod, Camry, M6, K5)
Continental is another track bcoz not japanese car

If M3 sell at RM155K, there ll be a buyer as well, it is a niche market (small volume is sale)
But if M3 Range from RM130K (CBU), drop to RM120K (CKD) a year later & below RM120K is possible bcoz M3 is competing with T & H & Korean.
M3 skyactive only can be fast selling even though the price is RM200K-RM500K if it can turn to be a gian robot (transformer), I also wanna get 1...hahaha

Step our foot on the ground & think wisefy

is CKD prices vs CBU prices now (Cx-5 vs M3 2014)

wont b surprised if is priced at 150k to give room for M3 prices to drop when they CKD m3

just my opinion

Perhaps we can use old mazda 6 vs the new mazda 6 on the price increase indication for new mazda 3?
Anybody know? I only know the price of the new one.

2.0L Sedan = RM 159,440.20
2.5L Sedan = RM 189,711.30
