No what i meant, just frostburn. Frost hydra proc the frost effect more often with frostburn especially pair with Serpent Strike

Found this in goblin realm today. I think it's pretty good if I roll for 6% CC.

Firebird finery 6piece DoT stacking to 3000% weapon damage looks like the best way to go for higher Grift tiers.

Damage is not the only concern in high grift (35 and above).
Many non melee class get killed in 1 shot (i.e. jailer).

(1) I would like to share a arcane-torrent fire build, using normal %fire damage weapon

Gears requirement.
RoRG ring
5-piece Firebird's set (to get 3000% damage per second, burn the mobs until they die)
3-piece Tal-Rasha set (to get meteor, what else?)
Source with 4 apoc. A must. (either firebird or tal-rasha source. I'd suggest firebird source because it comes with %fire damage, which is awesome)
Strongarm bracers for its 25-30% additional damage
Cindercoat or magefist for %fiire damage. I choose magefist over cindercoat because you lose EHP using cindercoat.
The Burning Axe of Sankis or Devastator for %fire damage. I choose Sankis Axe because "fight through the pain" is massive in keeping your arse intact.

Basically, you can stack up to max 125% fire damage from gears
5% Tal-Rasha set
20% Amulet
20% Firebird's source
20% Magefist or Cindercoat (if you use magefist, you need to use Firebird's chest. If you use Cindercoat, you need to use Firebird's gloves)
20% SoJ
20% bracer
20% Weapon (Sankis Axe or Devastator)

You can stack up to 30% Arcane Torrent damage bonus from boots and helm, 15% each. You'll either lose CC% or VIT if you roll arcane torrent damage bonus on helm.
You can get up to 30% damage bonus on elites from SoJ & additional 15% from Bane of the Powerful (lvl 25 gem required)

(2) Using the same gears and skills, you can make another build, arcane-torrent / Hydra fire build.
You don't use fire weapon in this build.
You use Serpent's Sparker instead.
You will get 20% lesser fire damage from weapon. But who cares? You get additional hydra. You can still stack 105% max %fire damage.
If you have TNT gloves, use it. Otherwise, stick to Magefist.


Both builds are viable for T6. Both just melt T6 mobs easily.
Why fire over arcane? Firstly, you can stack higher %fire damage from gears. Secondly, fire-arcane torrent gives you damage mitigation. Thirdly, mammoth hydra.
4 apoc enough? Yes, enough. Learn to release left-click mouse. You'll be fine with 4 apoc.
What if I run out of arcane? 3000% damage per sec + mammoth hydra will do their jobs in draining dry the HP of elites while you wait for the recovery of arcane power.
If you build a hybrid build, your damage comes from from 2x mammoth Hydra (2nd build) + meteor (from Tal-Rasha's set) + arcane torrent (need I say more? Huge damage skill) + 3000% damage/sec (from Firebird's set).

It depends on build.
I'd use Serpent Sparker's combo with Firebird & Tal-Rasha's set.

I'm using convergence disintegrate + firebird. Damage is 3x my pre2.1.0 chaos nexus disintegrate. OMG!!

I tried disintegrate, the damage is not as good as arcane torrent.
Besides, the apoc proc rate is not as good. Meaning the arcane power drains fast.

With arcane torrent, i can still have 50% of arcane power after killing a pack of elites, that is after i cast 2 x hydra.

Another lazy build is, 2 x hydra + fire blizzard.
You can run and kill like sentry build DH.
I find it a bit zzzzzz and it doesn't kill as fast as 2xhydra + arcane torrent combo.

Been playing lightning wiz throughout and this update is a welcome addition

Was using electrocute as primary but now changed to Arcane Torrent (lightning), which i can spam almost infinitely using the LMB, and Blackhole (lightning) for CC using RMB as needed.

Other skills are Force Weapon (increase damage), Familiar (AP regen), Storm Armor (AP cost reduction), and Teleport (in case need to run from danger).

Armor set for bonus equipped now include Firebird (2 piece for 500 int bonus), Vyr (2 piece for 500 int bonus), Traveller's pledge (2pc for vit and extra 50% crit dmg). AP regen on crit is +7AP per crit from helmet and source.

For crowd control I have Azurewarth for frost, the helmet that blinds, the ring that stuns. 70% of the time mobs are incapacitated since Arcane Torrent has many hits per cast.

So my build is to allow me to spam Arcane Torrent almost indefinitely (16 AP cost - 3 from storm armor, +4.5 per sec from familiar, +7 per crit hit). Since arcane torrent hits multiple enemies I have plenty of chance to almost recover the AP cost immediately. If not I just teleport away and recast.

Currently 10k int, bout 4.5k vit, sheet dps 800k before buff. Crit bonus i think is at 420%? Arcane torrent hits about 5-8mil per arrow/lightning.

I don't have the confidence to go T5 or above yet at this moment until I get the gears I want

You focus too much on arcane generation.
What you need is 4 apoc.
I tested arcane/fire build arcane torrent build. 4 apoc is what you need + max resource reduction from paragon level.

Try focus on other skill combo with arcane torrent and gears too.
For example, combo arcane torrent with Blizzard or Hydra. Use full firebird's set.

IMO, firebird's set is pretty much a must have for Wiz. The damage is just too awesome to ignore.
Since firebird's set requires fire damage, I reckon fire damage is a better choice than lightning build.
Besides, Blizz has fixed meteor of Tal-Rasha too. It's getting smarter and able to hit the target accurately.

Based on my tests, the burst damage of 2xhydra/arcane torrent is second to WD's Jade/DOT build.
It can kill faster than Cru's shortgun/darklight build. It can kill faster than DH's sentry build (the T6 elite pack already killed before DH cast the 2nd sentry in 2-party game)
FYR, I can pretty much melt most of the elite pack or twin-goblin @ T6 in 3-6 seconds in solo game.
(Note: I tested based on my average geared chars. Result varies if you have highly optimized geared toons. i.e. Godly geared Cru that hits 50m/ray with shortgun build vs average geared shortgun Cru can only hit like 20-30m/ray. Godly DH with 30%+ CDR vs average DH with 20%+ CDR).

Sigh....got 3 Firebirds in the past hour but they're all parts that I already have. I only need just one more different armor to complete the set.
