If a white phone using a black case?
*
That will be no problem at all icon_idea.gif . Mine is white 808 & using the Black cover for ovr 5 mths +. I have both colors (1st batch without speaker hole on lense cap). Hopefully newer batch cover wont have that issue for the red cover...hmm.gif

u mean the coloring from the red case actually rubs off?
i had a black case, i dont use a case anymore.
the phone survives well without it.
*
Yes. Somehow it will rubs the red over the housing (not very obvious, unless to those who wrap the whole phone with protective film on White 808 unit). But the red's on the 808 can easily rub of using rubber icon_rolleyes.gif

Its ok about not using the cover. That depends on personal preference's and lifestyle. I do have my reasons on using d cover:)

Agreed on the lens statement. The paint job around the whole camera hump is not chipping/scratch resistant. Do take note hmm.gif

Tat bad ? , my main reason is the lens cap cover, I can live with the red color  if its not too severe
*
Mine is not that severe, i seen worst scenario on the net (especially on film wrapped phones). I hope ur case will not fall the same category as mine smile.gif

the lens cap cover for the nokia case is kinda sucky cos it comes off very easily.
plus the one with no speaker hole, the ring tone gets muffled so sometimes u may not hear it properly.
while the one with speaker hole i dunno if its original nokia or not cos i dont think nokia site got show.
*
Mine's doesn't comes off easily for both colour. Although i must say, you nid firmly secure all gaps on the lens cap to ensure it is closed, otherwise it is like what you have mentioned earlier.

You can find the updated (speaker hole) version on LYN garage, but RM120 its too pricey (I think is ORI, but you cn chk with those who bought the updated version). Finally, you wont expect much accs for Symbian in Nokia website, they all moved to Lumia (WP) edi, even if some the accs are suitable for Symbian phones doh.gif

u try opening it from the side and see.
mine flips open so easily, quite a few others elsewhere also complain the same thing.
*
I always open the lens cap from the tab side only all the time. Still working fine. I use the Black cover since day 1 i have my 808.

ya, tab side of cos its harder abit to open.
but that doesnt mean it cant open easily from the other sides, like me and others complain before tongue.gif
sometimes in pocket also, take out phone and see camera cover already flip open...
thats why after that i bought amzer case instead.
*
hmm hmm.gif not so sure about yours and others, but mine reli seldom comes off by itself, mayb not abuse enuf yet.. haha..

About the red smear, i bought this "spider" holder few days ago, and this is only 1 time overnight i left it with the red cover... so be careful when placing this red cover to any object which is white (or light colors).

PS: the stain wont go off unlike in 808 housing.. mayb of the "spider" material is rubber... sweat.gif

got fake one meh?
got rise meh? lol

it is already "top" there and never rise up further more lol.  laugh.gif

want think something like....

"benchmark of the camera phone, no meet requirement pls go out tongue.gif"
*
Maybe to me yes kua tongue.gif . coz after the 808 PureView rise, the 920 pureview was d fall, not up to its name lolz. Although it goes on separated path of PureView (hence phased 2) when asked. Still they cant shake the image quality from 808 when compared (From the sifus, not me tongue.gif ). It was the milestone on mobile imaging quality!

PureView on the 808 is the only reason for it to "rise", as people around no longer interest in the OS, the specs, ecosystem...etc... Even Nokia will not go further for Symbian. The rise marks the beginning for PureView, but the end to Symbian. notworthy.gif

Visiting https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2459347/+1600 would aid you on ur decision, various handsets model with their best shots are all here!

Small note: It is the best "camera" in phone to date. but despite of the camera side, are you into the dated OS, nearly extinct ecosystem or uninspiring phone specs? if yes, i would advise you to look for others.

No matter whats your choice, enjoy the phone you have! Cheers!

808 is harder to use for me, hence i scare new buyer feel cheated when they expect outcome "A" but they use like "B"  hmm.gif
*
I do understand that. That is why for new buyers, i have to mentioned that camera of the 808 is not everything too, they have take in account of the OS, ecosys, etc.. already seen too much "regretted" owners wana sell off their 808...

Its is easier to put is this way: "(PV 41MP) power is nothing without (SKILLZZ) control" smile.gif

Is not that hard to work with 808 camera nowadays.. although focus can be annoying, but there are ways to workaround. With all the references i got from the sifus, able to mimic and apply to my shots~ Abit of adventure no harm whistling.gif practice practice icon_rolleyes.gif

When new users doubts their shots with the pros here, they can always ask sifus for advice nod.gif

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Apr 15 2013, 02:58 PM)
Although they want to call it Phase 2, but it is not actually correct, as Phase 2 should include Phase 1. But this is more like a different Phase.
Most likely the reason is they can't include Phase 1 because they adopted WP and due to WP limitation and they NEED to come out with a PureView Lumia to help market their WP, so they have to leave out Phase 1.  Imagine if they waited and today Nokia will have nothing much special to promote about the L920.

Phase 1 is the one that's actually amazing. The current so called "Phase 2" is OK, it's especially good for those who love to take static objects (things that doesn't move because Optical Stabilizer can't help when your subject moves), but this "Optical Stabilizer" technology you can see other manufacturer's already beginning to overtake it or come close in just short time, but Phase 1, there's simply no competition.

Phase 1 lack of Shutter Speed control, if they allow this, then it will be easier to take less blurred photo due to shake.

I would love to see the PROPER Phase 2 PureView, which includes Phase 1.
Hope the next Lumia will actually have it, but then Damian already left.
*
I do know actually that it just a marketing gimmick of rebranding PV with "phase 2" (too early...), like what you have said. It should be consist of both phases. That is why i referred as separated path...

There are many reasons they cant work the phase 1 to Lumia, one of the main reason is their phone "profile". If they are going stick with N9 style for the rest of their life, they wont fit the large sensor nor the xenon capacitor to it, at least for now....

Hm.. cant think of any phone with shutter speed control (correct if im wrong sifu). What we can do for this is to evaluate the speed by relying on the ISO given on the different scenario...(althought abit inconvenient, lucky FP2 now are flexible to view photo and the details right after we take the shot!) Hopefully we all able to witness the true successor of Pureview in the next Lumia. We do miss Guru Damian, but Pureview initial project was under Juha's & his boss, so is up to him and the rest of the team now smile.gif
