SP can be said near to impossible to find according to a few sources I asked, including DirectD. I managed to find a few but all selling the same poorly made silicon soft case. The cutout are quite sharp when you run your fingers along. Since I couldn't find any better, I settled for one since it was only RM8.

From what I seen yesterday, it seem like the only seller for Nokia 808 original case with camera cover has restocked. Even better, it seem to have the revised speaker hole on the camera cover as opposed to the original. I can't seem to find anything regarding the revised design on Google, but I have seen them on Taobao. The seller claimed its original, but I really couldn't find any source to confirm the revised design.
*
QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 15 2013, 02:07 PM)
RM120 i rather do without.
i still got a couple cases, amzer and the ori one without speaker slot.
the amzer one attracts dust in the slots, the ori one i got irritated cos the camera cover always comes loose.
and both are so hard to press the camera button.
so now my phone is bare naked, and its better this way.
*
Thanks for the input guys thumbup.gif . would steer clear of amzer's cover. Andrekua2, Care to tell whats the name of the shop that you discovered the revised version of CC-3046? not going to buy due to the price, but can keep an eye to validate the so called "original"

By the way, for hacked 808 only, you might find this interesting read (to unleash the "sealed" 12Mp Pureview):

Enjoy.

I bought screen protector at lowyat. cant remember the shop name. and I went to timesquare, that area that sell IT and gadget stuff to buy a crappy casing. They selling screen protector also. If you looking for something to cover the camera lens, then I guess have to order online. I ask zitron themself, they said they are not importing accesories.
*
Ic. i seldom go in to that area, but will have a look on next visit. Thanks:)

Got some issues with my Nokia 808. Plan to send to Nokia Care center.

Issue 1. When I plug-in earphone , only can hear right hand side. But I have tested the earphone with other phone, but no issue

Issue 2. I can see picture through camera but there is nothing else on screen, no ui / buttons on screen, just picture of what camera is point at. Camera button also not working. Restart phone will solve the issue temporarily, but it will come back again after use camera several times.

If you guys know how to solve this or face similar issue, please share. Thanks
*
I have random problems on issue 2 all the time, i've get used to it and luckily the belle extra button has a nifty restart solution wink.gif

A quick diagnosis on issue 1, try normal headphones cool.gif on 808, if problem occurs, then i might suggest you clean up the jack with abit of alcohol, or examine the jack see is there anything blocking inside.

Final word, if both solution fails, time to back up and hit the NCC sweat.gif

Hope it helps!

Becazo RM999 deal is back...

Really had too much stock I think... Those buying to earn quick bucks sure headache.

Surprisingly, no more Self Pickup... hmmm....
*
I would say this is a joy & pain situation, joy is everyone will able to get the genuine 808 safe and easily, no cheat or bought at "goreng" price (T&C: mastercard holders). Pain is for those who bought it earlier.. the price drop drastically mad.gif oh well... doh.gif

But even at this distribution rate, 808 is still rare to the community (look at how hard u can get the accs, lolz) and 808 truly is a attention grabber every time i flash out the 41MP Carl Zeiss to the public cool2.gif

Hopefully we can share more experience on this fine 808 with more 808 users~it is indeed the last of its kind.

In other words. Enjoy~

Nice pics taken on 808 ! The 41MP camera already worth the price! Where can you get a 41MP camera for $999?  I'm not really into photography but i'm a nokia symbian user since day 1. still using my 5800XM for 4 years now and it amazed me the phone is still keeping up with the latest 'essential' apps i.e. whatapps, viber, waze, etc. No reason for me to upgrade until this offer came along! conversion to Android/IOS/BB/WP/etc have to wait longer!  tongue.gif
*
Thanks:) 5800XM was one of the top seller phones of Nokia, as it is value for money on the touch-screen era that time brows.gif Even you are not into photography, this is still one of the best full-featured smartphone for daily use thumbup.gif

QUOTE(solution2u @ Feb 18 2013, 12:20 PM)
Thanks for reply.

1. Test other headphone also not working. I think is phone issue.
2. I think it takes around 20 - 30 seconds to restart, right? Unless the belle extra button has quick restart solution ? Will check it out.

No choice already, have to backup & visit NCC already sweat.gif

Awesome ! thumbup.gif
*
Thanks.. Im still on my way of learning the 808. Indeed belle extra button does has a lightning quick restart solution (plus side as it wont add a button to your screen) although it wont shorten the time of reboot.. but still, it is faster than win98 or winxp boot up time biggrin.gif

As for the jack issue~ it should be a quick work for the NCC, be sure to check the exterior for scratches (take some shots before sending in might be handy brows.gif )

To a handphone shop. Want to sell it fast as price for this set is dropping very fast. New Nokia Lumia with Pureview technology is also coming out. Still happy with the price coz the phone is more than 1 year already with no more warranty and symbian is dead already.
*
You keep repeating symbian is dead, strange, how dead is symbian actually? assume that symbian really stop its support on 2016, by that time you should have switch to another phone already (your case is much sooner though) BTW, you sure you get your set on February? that is when 808 was debuted (not launch), how could your set possibly 1 year + old? You bought AP set?

Of coz it is not really dead. Its just a phrase for something that  is not going to be profitable any more in the market. OK my mistake. I bought it on June 2012. Thanks for the reminder. yawn.gif
*
I aint reminding (because most of the member here knows when the phone is launched, just want you to get your facts right hmm.gif )What i concern is why you bought 808 in the 1st place... since you don't appreciate what 808 has to offer (and you should have known it runs on "Symbian" before you even bought it sweat.gif ). By the way, thanks for the explanation smile.gif it seems Symbian is dead statement has nothing to do with why you sell off your phone, and yet you repeated the "phrase" twice. doh.gif go figure why you have mentioned it in the first place..

Im eager to see what EOS will offer in imaging department too and hope that you will be still around to share your shots with us (if you are buying the WP EOS) smile.gif

Cheers thumbup.gif

yes realjazzcoke .. I'm planning to replace 5800xm with the 808.. Once I get my hands on the 808, will refresh 5800xm with the latest custom firmware and use it as my secondary phone. handy to use as a wifi hotspot using joikuspot. I wonder if the latest symbian belle comes with default ad-hoc network sharing?
*
Unfortunately, 808 still relies on joikuspot lite which is preloaded with the set (no password protection) sad.gif .

hmm hmm.gif .. Im not sure this will work out, just give it a try, if u r using memory card as camera photo saving location, try using the D drive, and transfer/move what every photo captured there to memory card later. And try not install heavy duty software to memory card location. Hope it helps sweat.gif

something similar. but nokia official battery monitor is safe from this issue (im dont use often, only use for checking), coz it has a option to whether switch in to powersaving mode when battery is low. Unlike some 3rd party will might override the power saving mode, even the battery icon doesn't show it. You can do a quick check by going to setting and adjust the brightness level, if you cant adjust means your in power saving mode (or the battery icon with a moon).

QUOTE(Fawkes @ Feb 28 2013, 07:20 AM)
Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the phone.

The gps is free for global map right? So if I take the phone to travel, I just need to download that particular country's map and I will be able to use gps at that country free of charge?

Is it possible to get a camera which have image quality that can match or beat this phone with a maximum budget of RM1500?

Is this phone's camera recommendable / easy to use for someone that is going to use auto mode 70-80% of the time?

To take decent pictures of the stars / moon / planets, I would need at least a dslr?
*
All in all, the first catch is, I hope the OS "Symbian" wont be a bummer to you, as it no longer doing well in the "smartphone ecosystem". But for normal P & S to serious mobile photography, that's totally another story brows.gif

Now the answer to ur question:
1. Yup. Nokia Map is free, & you have the freedom to use it online or offline (FOC), and no caching, simply download the country map and your ready to roam around thumbup.gif

2. As to date, even N8 image quality are still tough to beat by current dual/quad-core monsters..if you utilize the setting (not in auto, of coz brows.gif ) So let alone the price range that you have mention. 808 sets the bar so high in mobile photography that it was able to compete with Olympus E-PL2 (GSM Arena results, not sure is 808 the 1st phone to excel such comparison). Although Getting best image with 808 is abit tricky...
http://www.gsmarena.com/pureview_blind_test-review-773p3.php

3. 808 already given Auto (beginner), Scene (intermediate), Creative (Advance). It is all yours to command & conquer. Until you understand what you are trying to achieve with 808, you can go auto & scene all the way with ease smile.gif

4. Alot of pros given this answer, i skipped laugh.gif

I would say go for the becazo band wagon for the 808 (T&C) , really well worth the money!

N8 would be the runner up in this case, not just it is cheaper nowadays (not sure there are anymore new sets around), taking macro would be much easier. The autofocus are sometimes better than 808. Best part is the phone ships with all the goodies (HDMI/USB OTG cables, music playback control earphones)

No matter what your final decision is, just enjoy the phone you bought. Cheers rclxms.gif
