manage to do 6972kbps download and 2240kbps upload yesterday night with my Tab 7.7.  blink.gif  The fastest i tested to date.  But i notice Maxis line not consistent - at the same spot, tested few times, speed can range from 1mbps plus to 4mbps plus.  In comparison, DiGi is constantly at 1mbps plus a bit and stay at the same no matter how many times you run the speedtest.
*
Really? To me Umobile is the inconsistent one. I got 10mbps before at home and also tried having as low as 700kbps at the same spot before. biggrin.gif

Worry unnecessary
This is not iPhone where users are crazy over it
This feed only a unique group of users as most still find is too big as a phone

laugh.gif i do hope so too. Even here alone there are so many people waiting for it already.

Now if only your source have the telcos bundling plans; that would be great.

Digi or Maxis better? Anyone? Just got back from Genting Highlands during weekend and the internet connection on Digi was spotty and quite slow at times.. thinking of changing to maxis if got to tie 24 mths contract.
*
i believe Maxis should be better. Just changed from Umobile to Maxis 2 days ago and I am very satisfied.

Heard from a reliable source Maxis will be launching the Note II on Oct 19th.
*
19th??? Goodness that's a long wait.

Edit: I also heard someone from Maxis saying that Iphone will launch on 19th. And he said Note 2 wont launch at the same time because there will be too big wave of customers. So... still dunno which date.

How Maxis subscriber manage their 3G bandwidth? Can share any tips to avoid outrageous charges? I've been in yellow all these while and never pay attention to quota since digi throttle instead of charges...

Btw, I'm on digi prepaid.. can still MNP to maxis and sign plan on note 2 launch?
*
Count how much u can use a day, i.e., 1.5gb divided by 30 days = 50mb a day. Then put a direct dial shortcut *136*9*1# on ur homescreen so whe u dial it u can see ur balance right away.

For the MNP question, should be no. Especially if the promo applies to existing customers only. Even if you port on that day, you willl only be eligible for the promo after u are officially a maxis user. By that time, think of the stock level..

from sales point of view the latest launching period must before iphone 5 announcement. maybe in june or july.

samsung brand loyalty is quite weak. many ppl who buy are just follow trend and latest commercials.
only a small group of die-hard geek and nerd fanbase.

...

anyway if really samsung malaysia got stock, then shld launch it immediately now. and price must be 2099, not more.
*
i agree with this. But its hard to say whether launching before or after the i5 is better. After, is of course not good. But just a week before the i5 means the note 2 will only have red hot popularity for a week.

Just went to Maxis center to check whether I can sign a new contract with them since my existing 1 is gonna expire this mth.

The guy told me " Boleh sign contract baru. Tunggu lah ip5 dan note2. Dua-dua launch sekali..."

So, maybe it's next week, really.

QUOTE(merk @ Oct 11 2012, 09:27 AM)
Took the plunge and got an AP set yesterday. I am really impressed with the speed and the battery life so far. Using Note 1 previously, this Note 2 is a move forward for Samsung and Google.

Was sceptical initially on its performance but after using it for almost a day now, going back to Note 1 seemed 'slow'.
*
Really hesitating whether to get an AP set. On one hand, worried about warranty issues. But just hardware related, as any software related stuffs we can solve by ourselves. By now it looks like the hardware has no defects.

But on the other hand, also looking at the high price of 2299. Even if it comes bundled with package, i doubt it will go as low as 1k. Looks like AP is way more tempting.

As I frequently change phones, AP set is not a problem for me. Most of my phones are gone before the warranty is up (i.e. my current Note still has 1 year on it so the new owner can still enjoy it like a new phone). Advise, if you are spending all your money on the phone and planning to keep it for long term, then get an official SME set, otherwise, get whatever that makes you happy. biggrin.gif
*
yes i agree with u too. My current s2 had a slight issue with the screen, like yellowish tint, which i didnt send back to sc cos i cant live without smartphone for a day.

Until now I feel quite confident with the quality of Note 2 has most users here are so satisfied with it and does not seem to have any apparent problems.

Most importantly is the screen, really seems fine. Can't think of anymore hardware problems other than that and the motherboard. But for now, as long as SME releases the price, then i can make the decision.

Just because of one bad case you have doubts ??
seriously there are also many cases of bad service reported from Samsung Service center - check their bad postings at the Samsung Facebook
Tell me one Service center any phone manufacturer that has no record of bad service ??? Even Apple service center had their share of bad experiences
Similarly tell me one phone manufacturer that does not produce a faulty phone
In everything there are always bad hats
Personally , 80% of my stuffs are AP sets and i have so far only 2 cases i claim warranty - one replaced motherboard ( HTC ) and Galaxy S - reflash rom. At their service center i got excellent service
Infact most of my warranty claims are on SME sets - so does that make SME sets poorer - not necessary
As long as they service me well ( infact they do even thogh phones rooted/flash) I am happy
*
Your post here has really convinced me. But i want to ask, in case of any problems or defects,

1. Can we bring it to Samsung Service Centre for repair?
2. Will they charge a lot? (For example for your HTC, how much did they charge?)

My HTC is AP set - i just sent back to the shop that sell me and is FREE warranty replacing motherboard

I always advised my friends buy AP only from those with registered shops and established as service support is assured. There are now many 3rd party AP resellers who does not have any shop or service center support. They take a lower profit and sell cheaper and you just got to pray your set no problem. There are too many horror stories of such warranty claims from such AP resellers which gives AP sets a bad reputation. Some of these AP sets are directly imported from other countries on a batch basis through some grey importer and for such buy with care. Once the model is out and sales make within first few months, these importers just disappear and re emerged again when newer models are out
*
alright i understand. for ur HTC, how long did it take for the phone to get back to u? and do Ap sellers have service centres too? I thought they would send it back to the factory for repair.
