Thank you again. You did help me narrow down the models that suite my need & budget (actually buying for my friend) notworthy.gif

Hmm, did anybody here have experience with Intel HD4000 in running AutoCAD? will the Intel HD 4000 integated GPU suffice for very basic CAD work. This is for my friend. His work really doesn't related with those hardcore 3D drawing or design. maybe just need to do some reviewing before print it and submit to his boss.  tongue.gif

If can save some cost, he can use the extra money to buy printer.  hmm.gif

Yeah the Intel HD4000 would be enough for basic CAD jobs I guess hmm.gif
perhaps you should ask your friend to Google abit more on this matter... I can't really help much since I'm not familiar with AutoCAD at all laugh.gif

Hello good people here, I need a recommendation for laptop here, I see this one is not bad
http://www.dell.com/my/p/inspiron-14r-se-7420/pd
The i5 one, rm2049

However , I still consider other brand as well, maybe Toshiba, I am using Dell laptop now and it is getting obsolete already, I've made a mistake last time by buying Pentium processor laptop at 1999, while my friend bought it two-three months after, with i3, exact same look, and cheaper price, I do not want to make this mistake again. I will wait for newer generation of laptop to be released if the next release date is very near soon. So please tell me tongue.gif

My purpose for laptop is mainly for school work and also games, looking forward to play FIFA 13 on it smoothly and perhaps COD in the future.

Hardwares will eventually become obsoleted and cheaper with time, there's no beating technology nod.gif
The Inspiron 14R SE that you've mentioned is currently the best RM2k budget gaming laptop at the moment thumbup.gif

Thank you for your reply smile.gif, However, is there any better option if I can extend my budget a bit further maybe 2300?

Obsolete is a fact we can't deny, but not ignorant buy an already known, very-soon-to-be obsolete product with normal price. Hmm.. as an example, ipad launch every year march, we know it. No point buy the current model in January, wait for March, you either get price slash for current one or newer model. That's my point of view.

Well, if want to wait, wait at least Oct 26, when the Windows 8 notebook released...

Well, Dell already have some preorder for Win 8 notebook, but older notebook also removed..

1. Preferred Brand : Dell, Asus (despite the fact that my friends that use Asus have experienced multiple occurrences of blue screen)
2. Budget : 2.5k MAX
3. Usage : I'm thinking of getting a small computing device at home. I'm currently using a AMD 955/6850 desktop but I honestly don't use much of its potential power. What I need is a RELIABLE desktop, runs multitasking of tasks like pdf, PowerPoint, word, torrent, music and 1080p files and also stay on 24/7. I rarely ever play desktop games since 2010.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : it's not the size that counts but the resolution for me. I would prefer 1600x 900 and up but I think that's a bit too much to ask for given the budget.

Laptop =/= desktop

Pretty much all laptops would be able to handle your tasks, so just simply pick one? hmm.gif
But if its 1600x900 you want, then perhaps this (since you said size doesn't matter laugh.gif):

Buy a laptop with Win7 (any version), you can upgrade to Win8 Pro for RM50 give or take.
But looking at Dell pre-order, to move from Win8 to Win8 Pro, we need to fork out > RM300 more. What the shocking.gif
Maybe Win7 HB could be the cheapest entry point, eg. if you are thinking about the Y580 ? hmm.gif

Hi everyone. I am looking for a new laptop. Here's a bit of the details of what I am looking for:

1. Preferred Brand- NONE as long as it's reliable.
2. Budget- Less than RM2K
3. Usage- A lot of writings (Microsoft Office) + A bit of Photo editing + of course surfing.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - Not less than 14 inches.

Additional Info: I am looking for a laptop that could last at least 5 - 6 years, abit future proof (hopefully with my budget)?

The current laptop I am using is a HP DV2500 series which have lasted me for 5 years. I am a careful owner. Just that this laptop is getting a bit slow so I am on the lookout just in case (Or if you have any tips on how to make this laptop even last longer n faster, that'd be most welcomed!)

Thanks! rclxms.gif
