1. Preferred Brand : Dell, Asus (despite the fact that my friends that use Asus have experienced multiple occurrences of blue screen)
2. Budget : 2.5k MAX
3. Usage : I'm thinking of getting a small computing device at home. I'm currently using a AMD 955/6850 desktop but I honestly don't use much of its potential power. What I need is a RELIABLE desktop, runs multitasking of tasks like pdf, PowerPoint, word, torrent, music and 1080p files and also stay on 24/7. I rarely ever play desktop games since 2010.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : it's not the size that counts but the resolution for me. I would prefer 1600x 900 and up but I think that's a bit too much to ask for given the budget.

Laptop =/= desktop

Pretty much all laptops would be able to handle your tasks, so just simply pick one? hmm.gif
But if its 1600x900 you want, then perhaps this (since you said size doesn't matter laugh.gif):
17.3"
Lenovo Ideapad G780, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M + (1600x900)@RM2599[3.0kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm)

Thank you so much. I will consider these models seriously especially the Dell 14R special edition you mentioned in the previous post. thumbup.gif

Brand : preferable no acer, asus
Budget :2.5k
Usage : word, ppt, adobe, browsing, media
Screen : 1080p screen

1080p screen is very important to me because I like to view multiply documents together when I'm working.

This looks promising
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB/W8, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty but I wonder if its possible to reduce price?

Sorry to break this to you, but the Y580 is the cheapest model with FHD screen you can find in Malaysia  sweat.gif
Price is RSP, you can negotiate with sellers. The lowest I have seen is around RM27xx.
However, the screen is glossy.

If you prefer matte screen, the cheapest is this:
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8
Again, remember to negotiate (even if you buy from Dell website)  biggrin.gif
