Pardon my thread necromancing, here's one for the old school... a bone stock Chieftec Dragon Full Tower from the glory days of AMD Athlon XP. Everything is stock, even the side panel has no window.
Side note: Thinking of moving everything into a case supporting quieter 200mm fans, anyone in Klang Valley looking to adopt (yes for free) this Chieftec Dragon can hit me with a PM. Have to be patient though, we're living in the period of pandemic and I'm not keen to ship 15kg worth of steel. Story: Day to day currently, I use my Macbook and run Parallels for Windows apps - but there are some apps that are power and memory hungry. So I decided to revive the old desktop and remote in instead of running Parallels and driving the Macbook to its thermal limits. Recently upgrades with some affordable parts I found online: 1. 32GB ram - mobo spec says 16GB max, pretty surprised and 'motivated' to find some threads online reporting 32GB success 2. i7 870 - from i5 750 3. 5.25" drive rack - can hold 6x 2.5" drives. I cut off the rack's faceplate to maintain the stealth look. Misc spec: - PSU: Silverstone 600W - Mobo: Asus P7P55D-E - GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 - SSD: Refurb Samsung pulled from Lenovo laptop - Fan controller: 3.5" Vantec 4 channel - Case fans: 4x Thermaltake Orange Screamers, 1x Sunon Some photos: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by roarus: Dec 6 2020, 05:45 PM |
