Hello coffee lover,

I'm looking for Baratza Encore here in Malaysia, anyone knows where can I get it locally? I know i can easily find it in eBay, but i've confirmed that the power rating is not following out standard local power input. I'm afraid I need to get some clearence from Suruhanjaya Tenaga/Sirim and import tax that I have to pay. Thus, anyone who had experienced importing grinder from overseas specifically Baratza Encore, please chime in and share your experienced.

Thanks

Thanks Mel for your reply, appreciated.

Let me share something, I'm on my search for a non-espresso grinder that can be used for french press, aeropress and maybe a pour-over soon. Based on the online research done, I've shorlisted encore as the best candidate in terms of usability, but the price is not very favourable since I've to include tax, power converter/transformer and super expensive shipping cost. My 2nd option is Nivona Cafegrano (rebadged as Capresso Infinity in the US), but it comes with mixed review on the net, and I can get it for RM400++ from local seller in Lelong. So, I'm asking all sifus here some opinion on which grinder (not limited to 2 models I've mentioned) should I choose. Budget should be less than 1K. Please bear that, I've already owned a Porlex as part of my setup, and mignon is on its way from Dankoff, solely for my espresso needs. Porlex is an excellent personal grinder for small batch, but not ideal for serving more than 2 cups.

Sifus,

Based on my question on the grinder above, any recommendation and where to get it? If possible, I don't want to import anything from oversea, thus please recommend those that already available locally.

Thanks

I got myself an used baratza maestro plus. It was replaced by the Encore. Anyway it costs me around 440 plus shipment. But havent use it because i need to get the step down transformer. So just be prepare to get that too if you get it from the U.S.  I'll post more once i actually using it. I could have not honored the ebay deal but that would be bad for me. YOLO

Thanks for your feedback, appreciate that. The price you mentioned above is in RM or USD? If RM440+shipping is kindda cheap. Any plan to sell it? LOL

Thanks man, I've reached out to them via email, hope to hear back from them soon.

Anyway, can someone recommend a good grinder that can grind for French Press/Aeropress/Drip at a very reasonable price? Looking at anything less than 1k. Looking for an option other than Encore and Nivona Cafegrano. Any comments on Gaggia MM Steel and La Pavoni Kube Mill KBM?

Thanks

Got myself a hario slim rm125 per piece and grinds are consistant. Sufficient as i only do 1 cup in the morning and 1 cup back from work.

Thanks man for the feedback. I do have porlex for my FP and Aeropress, and i love it. But as per my previous post, porlex is an excellent choice for grinding a small batch of coffee, but not for multiple cups.

Thanks
