ive change my light from flourecent to power glo 20 watt, 18000K.
lighting per day = 10 hour for power glow and 15W artinic blue
ive never check my water condition since the water test so pricefull
i think my skimmer work effectively coz ive use double channel(air pump) for woolstone and 1 channel for water outlet.
i also use nitrate remover and phosphate remover media.
any suggestion??help me... cry.gif ..
i would like to ask, if i pair my maroon clown fish, will them be more aggressive??

what ATO system?? what use??
*
since is fowlr tank, can try to reduce to 8hrs your lighting.
what kind of fish you have now? if you have a big 1 in your existing thank than get a small 1, else the opposite.
that;s recommended by ppl mostly.

auto top off , to replace vaporized water.
i use 2 fan , big 1 runs in morning and small 1 runs at night after light off via timer so this gadget can come in handy for me especially when i'm travelling.

i have 1 maroon clown, 1 clicki clown, 2 damsell, 1 coral banded shrimp, 1 algae balenies, and 3 anemonae...if i pair my maroon clown,
will they become more agressive in my tank??my tank only 2 ft.. hmm.gif

you try find on ebay..i think they have ATO sys...
*
3 anemonae, that's cool, what kind you have there?
i'm kind of sceptic when it comes to anemonae, hard to keep.
so far i keep only 1, purple long tentacles anemonae for my african clown.

ebay those not local also. now i have to refill 2 litre of water everyday, kinda troublesome, maybe should invest for a chiller.
how big is your maroon clown?

i don't know what exactly my anemone  type @ name..
what im sure, 1- have purple tip and long tentacle, 2- yellow tentacle and at their tip is grey,
3- have long tentacle, red root and blue + purple tentacle..
my maroon fish is about 7cm long.. hmm.gif

purple tip should be same like mine? how much you pay for that, is kinda expensive.
those white, red color type are cheap, cost around rm15-30bucks, this 1 cost more than double, when it shrink it becomes like cup cake

this article tells how to determine your clown sex, possible right now is pondan, haha

i think if i dont mistake, on the 1st pic, think it is power slot..
in pic 2, i dont know.. tongue.gif

can u tell me how to make that??? im very interesting coz to buy a chiller is very costly.
i have hang on filter.. icon_idea.gif

what equipment in your tank??how big is your tank??
*
been doing research whole day, is TEC, thermoelectric cooler. that plate is call peltiers plate where electricity flow from 1 side to other and bring the tempreture down a bit, not much. but if the tank is small than it will be able to bring down 2-3c which should be enough.

electricity bill wise also friendly.

http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l2/g30/c105/l...Coldplates.html

i saw an article someone bought thermaltake subzero g4 heatsink, fan + plate for rm50

how to use it is simple, cut a square size hole like the photo here in the hanging filter, glu it up, so this small compartment will cool the water up faster.

or can check this 1 out

http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem.aspx?idproduct=CW1131

this only works if not so big tank, i have a 33gallon tank (exclude sump tank, an overflow system) so is kinda hard for it to really work effectively to bring the temp down.

planning to get a hailea HC-100A chiller for 300L (850bucks) but now no stock pulak. damm... 400L pulak overkill and bulky, haiyy, weekend will go island fish shop ronda ronda

where got rm50 only. you still need to get a hang filter (30), adapter (20) for it. probably rm120 at the end

another option is buy direct from this fella.

http://cgi.ebay.com.my/Aquarium-Base-DIY-C...id=p4634.c0.m14

maroon clown... hhm..actually hard to say, try to get a small 1 and slowly introduce. get a plastic container to seperate them first but able to see each other, wait until your old clown no longer attack it than only release.

can i use com fan cooler to make chiller??i already have hang filter and what type of adapter??
can u give a full spec??i want to budget my money and spend on coral.. icon_question.gif

for my maroon, i've only got 1 and i would like to know if i paired with new one,
will my paired maroon will become more aggressive to other tank mate @ other fish??

i've got my anemone at local store at trg.
*
u can use fan to blow the water surface directly, water vaporize will disperse heat.

tec is a special type of cpu fan, not normal cpu fan. thermaltake subzero g4 is one of it, there are other brand, cpu fan normally power by 12v supply

should be ok, diff species normally they don't bother. rclxms.gif

can u tell me what type equipment to properly run reef tank for 2 ft tank??
what i've got:
1. 2 powerhead
2. hang on filter ( will be modified to add TEC for cooler the water)
3. 240L ista protein skimmer (use 2 channel air pump)
4. digital thermometer.
5. canister filter.
6. 20w 18000k power glo
7. 15w arsenic blue
that it..can u tell me what to add??
it's my light system ok??coz i think i want to add 20w 6500k life glo..it is ok for my reff??
*
hard to say, what is the depth of your tank & what kind of coral you plan to keep?
18000k, i prefer not too high K rather than have more tube with various spectrum, i use 4 x 24w
now technology has improved a lot, not necessary to go until MH for normal reef setup.

as for cooling, long term better get a chiller, as you add more lighting your water will boil.
look for 2nd hand, many people upgrade their tank & will sell their chiller.

stable water parameter very important for reef tank, if can make a sump tank than will be good,
you can shift you skimmer to the sump tank, also you can have space to put proper carbon filter, po removal,
even a refugium.

thank rclxm9.gif
*
for shallow tank, your lighting should be enough already,$
should consider more on keeping your water parameter stable
temp should be 26-27c all the time, nutrients level should be low
guessing phosphates should be quite high, with the over intense light, red slime can grow quite fast.
dump a sea urchin into it, in a few days, everything will be shining shining.

where i can find cheap nano chiller??my tank only 2ft.. hmm.gif
*
can look for 2nd hand from forum & lfs shop, bought my resun cl450 for 500bucks
however i still use fan while around, chiller dun kick off, not so noisy,
top up water occasionally also beneficial to the system.
while away is purely on chiller. temp set to 26c, stay 27c all the time.

got budget than can get a new hailea 130A, cost around 850, silent, price good & got 1 yr warranty.
previously i checked, only have white, i prefer dark to match my hse & this 2nd hand unit bump in the right time.
*might upgrade tank in future so get bigger chiller is ok. rclxm9.gif

30c, thats hot, better put a fan blow direct to the water surface for the time being, should bring it down to 28c.

hey what do damselfish n clownfish eat besides pallets?

im cycling my tank now with a 3 stripe damselfish and i'm afraid that the pellet remnants will contaminate the tank or should i just leave the uneaten food that sunk to the bottom?
*
brimeshrimp, mysis, cyclops ezee & basically meaty seafood.

not too much is ok, it will be decompose by bakteria, also you can get some bottom dweller to compliment your eco-system, eg: blenny fish, prawn, lobster, sand star which will help you to sapu those food laying on the sand bed.

skimmer will help reduce the biomass.

tempreture 28c below also reduce chance of amonia spike which is the last thing u want to try.

damsel are very territorial & bully, if decide to do a reef tank & keep more variety of fish.

should consider take them out.

now i have one 3 stripe damsel.

my tank is pretty small, 1.5ft height n 2ft length, 1600l clip on filter, and a protein skimmer.

later in a month planning to get a pair of percula and an anemone.

if i add a blenny fish is it too much for my tank? or could u recommend me any other bottom dweller.

and thanks a lot, your info is very helpful for a newbie like me.

can't see clearly, is that "overflow" hangon filter? need use proper marine type, not fresh water flower loh han type. lol
pair of percula & blenny sure no problem.
as for anemone, need very stable water tempreture, use a fan & try let it stay at 28c as much as possible.
anemone also have many type, choose the right type you can keep.

some will, especially those wega, small size & will replicate very fast.
star fish got over 2000 species, need to identify only can know.
for me i only keep sand star to vacuum my sand white white.
