Autosol if you're up to the task.

Otherwise, if the stains aren't too old, some Goof Off or washing detergent might work.

try washing detergent (for plates). use soft cloth or soft sponge only.
autosol can be bought from hardware shop. eneos 1U has a wider range of autosol.
but i used metalsol (pirated autosol?) once and it turned black. have to continiously scrub the area for the black stuff to disapear. thr outcome was a smoother polished alu but darker. i did it on a piece of alumimium at workplace, not casing.

Wow! Danger! Dont use Autosol on anodized aluminum man. Autosol is highly abrasive n will rub off the anodised layer. Autosol is meant for bare metals only.

I saw a proper Aluminum cleaning solution selling at Tesco. It comes in a bottle. Cheap too. Y not buy that n try on a small corner on the inside of the panel to make sure it's not corrosive. Shud b good though coz the instructions sed it's for cleaning aluminum door n window frames n those r anodized aluminum so it shud work nicely on aluminum PC cases.

Point to note when handling Aluminum. Do NOT let your fingerprints oxidise the surface of the aluminum. Carry a soft cloth soaked in some light detergent. And take time off during your modding to occasionally wipe off the fingerprints off the surface of the Aluminum. Once oil from human skin oxidises it stains the aluminum and is extremely difficult to remove without losing the original shine of brushed aluminum.

On occasion when working on my rig, I even wear a latex glove.

Feel like I'm on CSI...

First of all, I was not referring to using Autosol on the anodized surfaced outside. That's plain idiotic. laugh.gif

I meant on the inside, which is bare aluminium, and I've tried it on my PCI blank slot covers which always picks up fingerprints, it works great. smile.gif As for the aluminium turning black, that's normal. You just gotta keep rubbing with a clean cloth until it goes away.

If you're referring to the exterior surface, I don't know. I usually use this foaming window cleaner to wipe it everytime I touch it. tongue.gif Clean up everytime you've tainted your LianLi surface and it won't have any stains. biggrin.gif

A good recommendation is to use Aluminium cleaner. As the name suggest you use it for cleaning aluminium. You can get PYE Aluminium Cleaner from Jusco Home Center or Ace Hardware. Visit www.pyeproducts.com for details.

Shud b ok lar. U know those alu window n door frames? Seen those? They're also anodized like alu PC cases. Anyway xetajones works for Pye n he oso sed it's alright. U can always try a lil bit on hte inside of ure panel to make sure it doesnt strip the color off.

Have u use alcohol liquid. that should do the trick. Remember alcohol liquid to clean ur tape player. Use that! That might work.

If u cant find one. Use alcohol that used facial cleanser or something. that one work removing oil.

there are many ways but it depends on what type of stain u occur .. oil, dust, thermal paste ....

for oil and dust the best method just get a piece of wet cloth that has some detergent drop

wipe it throughly then get another piece of microfiber cloth wipe off the surface to clean the detergent away ...

works very well ... sometimes i even have the whole case dissembles and use dish drop and cloth to wipe the surface then spray with clean waters.

while for thermal paste alcohol, Zippo and even tooth paste (not recommended) can works... Alcohol works the best out of all three..

If ciohbu means that the base is oxidized, offcourse it will work.
Try finding any copper base heatsink that is badly oxidized, then you will know either it will work or not. smile.gif

the best to clean aluminum is dish soap and water .... after wipe off the water to prevent water mark left on it ...

I believe tomato sauce also has acid in it.
As far as i can remember, everything that is sour got some connection with acid. laugh.gif

Now that explains how the oxidation on copper can be removed quickly with tomato sauce. hmm.gif

that's even more easier men .. and that's the only reason that i stick with thermalright heatsink until now ...

just take out the heat sink and additional screws if possible ...

then prepeare a bail of water with couple drop of dish cleaning liquid.

just dump inside for a minute then take out wash with clean water ...

after remember to use heat dryer with low heat level and dried it down to avoid water mark stain ....
