After making the first game a multiplatform, and generally establishing a fanbase on both PS3/360, they decided it was a great idea to make it an exclusive? Crossing my fingers for some sort of special edition later for the PS4/NextBox, but chances are kinda slim. SEGA makes all sorts of weird decisions this gen; first Valkria Chronicles 2-3, now this? doh.gif

EDIT: This is probably more suited to be in the Nintendo section, but seeing how the previous game was multplat, I just thought this might warrant some discussion among fans here as well sad.gif

Nintendo publishing it, so chances of it ever going multiplatform is as good as asking Satoru Iwata to get in bed with Kaz Hirai and Don Mattrick.

Sucks yeah...

Well, if i'm not mistaken, Bayonetta 2 didn't even have the proper funding at first to be made. Nintendo then came in and help fund it. It's either a nintendo exclusive, or no bayonetta 2 at all.

I guess "Nintendoes what Sega don't" now. Kinda funny when you consider the old rivalry between them in the past.

Sial Nintendos. First they taken away my MGS Twin Snake (not included in MGS HD edition), then Fatal Frame 4. And now this?

Luckly, from all RE games which are Nintendo exclusives, RE4 manage to make its way out of it to PS2 and PC.

Nintendo took over 2 great companies.

1. The developer of xenosaga.

Anyhow I enjoyed bayonetta a lot. Crazy combo, crazy moves. Not to be able to play the sequal is definitely a great loss for me.

It depends. if Nintendo bought the IP outright, then its will be exclusive permanently. Funding it does not guarantee an exclusive, it usually involve in portion of the profit of the game.

Publishing it will secure exclusivity. Why do u think we don't have mass effect 1?

Their stake in the IP is higher than you think. Sega cancelled Bayonetta 2, which indirectly means telling Platinum Games to pack their bags and go elsewhere.
Has there ever been a Nintendo published and funded game (third-party wise) ever making their release on another system?

90:10? most developers will avoid exclusive.

Mass effect 1 is because MS bought the exclusive (note that MS exclusive is really loose deal)and EA bought Bioware it later.

now just hope that on other publisher decide to throw in some cash to platinum games not to make it happen. Fingers cross XD

Bayonetta was a typical "sex sells" game. Played through it once and that's about it.

Hopefully it wont come to PS3. lols =x

CV? Pretty sure he was talking about RE4's GameCube exclusivity. That's why they had to redo the engine for it to work on the PS2 later. And then RE4 ends up on almost all platforms, lol.

Wouldn't that means the IP belongs to Platinum and this exclusivity is one of the many terms of agreement in the contract? Because usually the publisher of the 1st game would still be holding the rights, unless they(SEGA) sold it as well, much like Tecmo letting off the Fatal Frame series. That said, SEGA does make quite some of lame moves this gen. ValkyriaChronicles2 made a PSP game, VC3 never gets localized, shitty Bayonetta PS3 portjob...
To be honest I kinda wish P+ went to talk with SquareEnix/Konami instead. SE does surprising well with 3rd party lately; Konami is just an afterthought considering that they're now working on MGRising. At least with Nintendo out of the picture they can make games for all 3 platforms.

I don't really mind buying a WiiU, really. The only thing that worries me is the random decisions that Nintendo of USA makes when it comes to bringing Japanese games for localization. Remember FatalFrame 4? The fans had to do the translation work themselves. Then there's also that issue with region locking.

So far, my decision on this matter is to buy the game first, console later. This way I can wait for news of some "UltraHD edition Turbo" port and sell the WiiU copy, and at the same time wait for WiiU to release new models/upgrades/drop price laugh.gif

The IP does belong to Platinum Games. Everyone has always assumed that whatever Platinum makes, it comes from the funding of SEGA simply because they've started off as great buddies — this, including the developers and staffs at Platinum themselves thought so too.

Don't know why SEGA saw it fit to cancel Bayonetta 2 though, maybe because the first game sold pretty badly. Then again, a lot of other SEGA games sold worse than Bayonetta as well.

It's like United Front with Sleeping Dogs, was originally supposed to be published by Activision. But Activision thought it isn't going to even do half as good as GTA or Rock Band for that matter (yeah I know, their stupid reasoning). So Activision told United Front to go to someone else.

Luckily, for the better or worse... they went to Square Enix. And since SE has already sold their soul to Microsoft, it was a given that Sleeping Dogs will release as a multiplatform game.

Inferior or not, I still have a blast playing it on PS3 biggrin.gif Hopefully the localization doesn't take long after the Japanese release (Not that it really matters, since it's mostly in English anyways tongue.gif)

With so many rage hate going on, Nintendo will need to spend more marketing dollars on Bayonetta as their "exclusive only" title like Mario and others. They have to if they want to get new console buyers (from X360 & PS3 owners) or have more variety for their fanbase.

Sucks for non-Nintendo gamers though. Bayonetta was a wonderful niche game and I thoroughly enjoyed it on my PS3.

Yeah its region locked... in 2012!! doh.gif , the simplest of reasons why i'm not getting one.. besides most of the launch titles are already on other consoles mass effect, darksiders 2 e.t.c.... i just hope platinum were sensible enough not to sell their publishing rights for bayonetta 2, otherwise i think mgs-r might just be the last platinum developed game i buy since there are no assurances that a game released by them on 1 console will see its sequel on that same console. maybe vanquish 2 will be on ios whistling.gif
