Nintendo publishing it, so chances of it ever going multiplatform is as good as asking Satoru Iwata to get in bed with Kaz Hirai and Don Mattrick.
Sucks yeah...

QUOTE(y3ivan @ Sep 14 2012, 06:04 PM) It depends. if Nintendo bought the IP outright, then its will be exclusive permanently. Funding it does not guarantee an exclusive, it usually involve in portion of the profit of the game. Their stake in the IP is higher than you think. Sega cancelled Bayonetta 2, which indirectly means telling Platinum Games to pack their bags and go elsewhere.Has there ever been a Nintendo published and funded game (third-party wise) ever making their release on another system? |

QUOTE(guarayakha @ Sep 14 2012, 08:51 PM) Wouldn't that means the IP belongs to Platinum and this exclusivity is one of the many terms of agreement in the contract? Because usually the publisher of the 1st game would still be holding the rights, unless they(SEGA) sold it as well, much like Tecmo letting off the Fatal Frame series. That said, SEGA does make quite some of lame moves this gen. ValkyriaChronicles2 made a PSP game, VC3 never gets localized, shitty Bayonetta PS3 portjob... The IP does belong to Platinum Games. Everyone has always assumed that whatever Platinum makes, it comes from the funding of SEGA simply because they've started off as great buddies — this, including the developers and staffs at Platinum themselves thought so too.To be honest I kinda wish P+ went to talk with SquareEnix/Konami instead. SE does surprising well with 3rd party lately; Konami is just an afterthought considering that they're now working on MGRising. At least with Nintendo out of the picture they can make games for all 3 platforms. I don't really mind buying a WiiU, really. The only thing that worries me is the random decisions that Nintendo of USA makes when it comes to bringing Japanese games for localization. Remember FatalFrame 4? The fans had to do the translation work themselves. Then there's also that issue with region locking. So far, my decision on this matter is to buy the game first, console later. This way I can wait for news of some "UltraHD edition Turbo" port and sell the WiiU copy, and at the same time wait for WiiU to release new models/upgrades/drop price Don't know why SEGA saw it fit to cancel Bayonetta 2 though, maybe because the first game sold pretty badly. Then again, a lot of other SEGA games sold worse than Bayonetta as well. It's like United Front with Sleeping Dogs, was originally supposed to be published by Activision. But Activision thought it isn't going to even do half as good as GTA or Rock Band for that matter (yeah I know, their stupid reasoning). So Activision told United Front to go to someone else. Luckily, for the better or worse... they went to Square Enix. And since SE has already sold their soul to Microsoft, it was a given that Sleeping Dogs will release as a multiplatform game.
