Hello guys,I need a desktop speaker and have budget around RM800+- . May I know what is the best speaker for the range? Love to listen to music and movie. No gaming I think except mini games.

In my mind,I think of Harman kardon sound sticks, does it worth the money? How is the sound quality when compare to edifier studio 8(seemed popular in this forum)?
*
sound stick is super space saving, studio 8 is super space taker.
your preference?

passive bookshelf means audioengine speaker?? but i already own a studio 8. XD
*
nope, audio engine is same kind of speaker with most edifier = active stereo bookshelf which dont require additional power amp to play.

Hey guys I need help.  I used to have Aego m. Currently only one speaker is working and I don't think I want to get it repaired. I am looking for a great 2.1. Budget is around rm500. Won't go for Aego again. I just want a good overall sounding speaker. For pc but that's my main entertainment center. Music all genres and movies. Don't want 5.1 was looking at Aego r2700. What do u guys think or do you have other suggestions? Only problem is the speakers are big but I am willing to use them if the sound is great. Thanks going to buy today so all help is appreciated
*
yes it is a great one, edifier studio r2700 not aego r2700.

Thanks man. I guess I'll start looking around. 1k just for AVR is a little pricey though. The S530D is around the same price right?
*
s530d market price about 700.
u have to manually connect the speaker input signal in between devices.

AVR will simplify them as a central unit that use remote control all. higher price but more convenience functions like network play and control. a bit different sound tuning (towards movie type)

QUOTE(Topet @ Nov 10 2014, 02:41 PM)
No problem.
I don't really know about multimedia speaker nowadays.
AVR with a set of 5.1 satellite speaker system, a bit pricey but it solve all your problem.

agree nod.gif

Alright. Thanks guys. Looks like I have to save a bit first. 1k(?) for AVR, then need

  1. Passive woofer

  2. 2 Satellites

... errr.. anything else?
*
passive woofer cannot be used.

actually u aim for maximum music usage or mix with movie?
i only recommend avr for mix usage. integrated amp produces much more quality at the expense of surround effects.

u can look in mudah or hifi4sale.net for good deals. experience it first then sell off and upgrade or buy new. at least u will know what sound are u aiming for and go all in for it.
dont buta2 buy later regret like i did before sweat.gif

Wah.. thanks for telling me this early.

So need

  1. AVR

  2. Active Woofer

  3. 2 satellites

I can tell you right now that I feel damn buta. When you all in and regret, how much did you spend? Also thanks for the link. Much appreciated.
*
i start from altec and creative 2.1 computer speakers, spent numerous hundred.
after working i bought a 5.1 sat-sub component set, 2600. spent 700 for used AVR and some cables to power them up. ok and good enough

later on get some headphones which i spent the same amount as home theater above. regreted for headfi, quit and plan to sell off slowly.

recently i bought a mini cd-amp stereo receiver. price range is expected 2k new unit include speaker but WoW its like the best bang for bucks and more (go search denon dm39, ceol, marantz melody series, MCR610 reviews and u will know).
newer model has network streaming, dlna control and support lossless codec are the best features i ever wish for. i dont even need to turn on tv.

also from there i have learned power (watts) is not all about loudness...

so avr VS stereo amp, see which route u want to go. haha icon_rolleyes.gif

Wah quite a journey for you. I've been living with 2.1-s for a long time now. I guess its my turn to take the first steps.

You think I could get an AVR but do without a subwoofer first? Just buy AVR and 2 satellites first. Or without the woofer it becomes pointless?
*
there is a way of bass beat reinforcement by position your speaker near to rear wall. the rear reflex effect is very beneficial for bookshelf without sub

Hey guys need some advice, currently using a pair of Dayton B652 connected to my Lepai LP-2020A+ Amp which is connected to my Pre-amp Little Dot MKIV SE.
Any advice on how to upgrade my speaker and amp maybe and keep my LD MKIVSE as my pre amp to save up on cash? like budget 500? maybe get a new pair of speakers first then work on the amp/
*
can you tell which part of Dayton B652 you are unsatisfy with?
becos its difficult to recommend you upgrade without knowing ur hearing characteristic

basically overall, musicality, more oomph from the bass but not boomy, more suitable for music and movies.
*
652 is a 6.5" cone, i dont think its insufficient in bass unless very big room.
i would suggest to change the amp. not necessary to go tube or solid state but definitely higher watt to gain the desired improvements u want.

something like integrated amp from yamaha or marantz will do fine wink.gif

I'm currently looking for a 2.1/2.0 speaker which looks good.I mean really good when incorporate with my setup. Sound wise, I don't think I can really tell the difference in real life. Just for casual listening to Spotify, iTunes radio and for Youtube videos only while doing work. No movies, no gaming.

The Z553 looks good and saw Sri Comp at lowyat selling for RM299 from 499 which is tempting. 299 is pushing it already , but I think i can make do. I'm on a budget here.  sweat.gif

So, yes or no go? Or recommend me some other amazing looking computer speakers that won't break the bank.

Thank you.

sound stick is look good design. but price is double up

My budget max 1.5k
For PS3 gaming bluray movie
Currently using Sound bar
Room size : tiny/small

I'm planning to upgrade my sound system after sending my Philips sound bar to factory (complaining on distortion when low key tone, eg piano Do key can hear the speaker vibrating irritating noise).

Currently i have go and tested these 2 unit 5.1 system, sound is good where the mp3 that can generate distortion on sound bar is clear on them
HTB5570DRm1200
HTD5580Rm900

Currently i prefer the HTB because got the HDMI IN and OUT, so i can HDMI switch IN the amplifer and video HDMI out to TV
or else if using HTD the only choice left is RED/WHITE cable.
Actually how much different between HDMI vs RED/WHITE AUX audio? i suppose better go full HDMI now instead try to safe now and regret later?

And it's safe to shop in lazada? i saw they sell it cheaper compare to lowyat shop

and i just go check around and saw few high end shop Sg Wang selling RM15k bookshelf speaker notworthy.gif

Those shop salesman keep recommend philips to me, but in lowyat forum seems edifier so famous? Any recommend?
*
HDMI got dolby and dts surround.
RCA red and white only got left & right sound

lazada got mixed feedback, depend on the seller behind.

15k bookshelf is totally out of budget/ dont look at it

philips speaker is living room use. edifier is near field use.

hye guys , idk if anyone ask this question or not. Just back from lowyat to audit my potential speakers which are

z623
z506
armagedon a7
c3
z906

i need speakers mainly for movies and gaming , and music a lil bit. Base on what ive heard on 2.1 speaker , z623<armagedon a7<c3 , I love bass but on the z623 i cant control both bass and treble , on the armagedon i can control both , on c3 i dint find it as i was playing with the volume. So is it worth the penny on z623?

Last but not least , z906, i dint set on max volume as it too loud for me but it seems nice, but overexpensive , do u guys know whether c6xd (5.1) is good or corsair sp2500(2.1)? i am gonna check again tomorrow and buy . Thanks in advanced!
*
my advice is dont go surround unless you got the space and effort to tidy up the wires

that will depend the distance between speaker and rear wall. it can create bass boom when u move near wall
