i own a bose companion 20

would recommend to people who just want to listen to music lightly..good bass and crisp treble

a bit pricey but its worth it
*
For that price of 1.2K? WOW, I'm....impressed shocking.gif

Not worth it, rather buy a Hi-Fi set for that money

well, compact with good sound..not cluttering you table
*
haha, if rich nevermind, but as a long term pleasure, should go for more toys on the table, especially "wood class style" stuff, they are crazy expensive but classy, basically I got 3 woody feel audio stuff: 2 speakers + 1 headphones, now I just need more woody tables/stands maybe thumbup.gif , and prefer some woody casing tube amp/DAC?

QUOTE(Emiya Shirou @ Jun 20 2013, 10:25 AM)
wow, if u said like tat, mean u feel even more disappointing with the new promedia 2.1 thn me
cause last time when i went and test the new promedia the best price i can get is RM7XX. but u compare it to a Rm500 logitech   notworthy.gif
u make even harsher comment

QUOTE(power911 @ Jun 20 2013, 11:00 AM)
price doesn't mean quality to me lol
if they sound good... then it's good
*
hmm, that mean they are not worthy of that price, even Harmon Kardon Soundsticks better?

affect is will affect, jz tat will u notice it? if the quality is another level thn it will be easy to notice, if not is quite hard.
*
understand, it mean no effect, i personally try to download some tracks from youtube and convert it to vbr0 mp3 using audacity, as I download another flac track, there is a difference, hmm source tracking is important (no that there is huge difference between mp3 and flac, proper encoding wont make much difference), but cable should be not noticable, except good one look more classy tongue.gif

nope, tat's wrong. cable n power conditioning are consider less affecting in SQ due to their expensive price. but, if u try like jump grade, thn cable do hav very significant affect. but i dont really recommend u to try cable for ur speaker. normally ppl will advise u to spend only 10% of ur budget on cable.  try play cable after u get something like Audioengine A5+ or Swan X4.
*
hmm, for large scale sound device i think got difference, coz need more input, but that one also up to how they design every components, blood sucker design at the end for those business sweat.gif

actually not like tat, every sound devices also will hear differences with better cable. jz the problem is the raw material for better cable are expensive. like pure gold > pure silver > pure copper. but these cable, even the best 1 don't affect the whole system a lot. so ppl tend to budget with 10% only.

jz for example, a 10k cable really giv gud sound. even u try in ur 1k speaker system also can hear differences. but with 10k u buy a speaker and amplifier, the differences will be more significant. so will u buy 10k cable or 10k speaker and amp?
*
I will bang the idiot who sell a cable for 10K, that's totally overexaggerating and irrational, that cable is not make of diamond but just some elements free come from Earth, idiot business. haha blush.gif

there is no best budget cable around, cause cable has few types of characteristic (such as cold, warm and etc) and u need to choose depend on ur taste. and sometimes, I will like to use cable to tone the sound. it's easy to jz swap the interconnect cable and hav a totally different sound type according to the taste u want. but for speaker cables, i recommend kimber kable or transparent audio. kimber kable has some bad look and lack those wrapping of other cable, but for the price against SQ, i think its easy to rec. transparent audio is for its factory terminated cable tat has the filter.
*
What cable do you suggest and where to buy it? I simply use it to trasfer analogue signal come out from smartphone to active speakers (3.5mm to RCA), also paiseh have to ask here coz see no where a thread for audio cable sweat.gif

anyway copper had better conductivity compared to gold... so don't bother investing on gold cable other than silver and copper.

gold is the best conductor that can withstand oxidation and that's all
*
QUOTE(Emiya Shirou @ Jun 22 2013, 07:27 AM)
hmm, i read some where before but i don't remember where. it said tat gold conductor do has better sound thn silver. conductivity is not the only parameter tat affect sound quality. but i doubt we will see many gold conductor cable as those from china are aggressively stocking them up. whn i talk about gold, i do mean real gold. not like here, whn saying bout invest in gold, what we get is jz some bank book instead of real gold.
*
So by gold, we mean gold plated right? Not entirely of gold right? Sifus, I listen to my Swans M200MKII at night, my ears suddenly become sharp to hear ...

Don't understand your statement when you meant by "dirty bass", bloated bass at 125hz - 250hz frequency range. mid bass, upper bass? Those kind of generalization of describing sound is very vague.

Speaking of cables, someone mentioned in another thread how much cables can go and I believe this is new updated price

I'll try to make it point straighforward, it just mean the bass is sound like...

hmm, i also not sure wat ur problem is... anyway, wat DAC are u using? source is important as well. if the DAC is not up to the standard, getting more expensive amp + speaker also may not solve it.

My speakers can be modded to do passive.

I try to move my speakers from wall ady, but still hear that blink.gif

I think it happens to powerful speakers which generate big sound stage, initially play I din notice this, dunno why, now after some time playing it getting more obvious sweat.gif

even the DAC do hav 7.1 surround but i doubt it has DTS certified...

that's why for me, i think the most easy way is to decode the DTS with Sonic / ArcSoft DTS decoder and pass the audio stream as pcm or other loseless format... unless i get myself a dts certified av receiver XD

i actually satisfy wif the C3, for a speaker tat cost RM420 2 years bac... it's quite a nice 2.1 speaker... dun compare wif 2.0 speaker though XD
*
Recently I downloade a wav file, then split it using the cue file, then when I play shown is DTS file, anyway to downmix to stereo or convert it? Help sifu notworthy.gif

if u wan playback, jz get a dts plugin for foobar and use the downmix channel to stereo available in the DSP of foobar.

for splitting and conversion audio file, if anything involve DTS i recommend use audiomuxer and select the dtsdecoder from arcsoft.
*
For playback of these .wav files, definitely is ok to use Media Player Classic - Home Theater, just that I would like to convert to .mp3 to be stored in USB and played in my car tongue.gif

Thanks for the advice, will try Audiomuxer and see how it goes thumbup.gif

HIVI M200MKII
HIVI M200MKIII
EDIFIER STUDIO 8

Which to go? 90% music + 10% gaming
*
I only know about M200MKII, it's poison speakers for vocal and intrumental, high & mid, for low bass it's a bit dumb, you need to plug the bass port of the 2 satelites to reduce bass ressonance. rolleyes.gif

Hello sifus,

Any recommendation for a 2.1 speaker setup for my desktop without breaking the bank and good looking? I want the speaker to be wall mounted.

Been looking at the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 and they look perfect. But it's 900+ at harvey norman  rclxub.gif

Budget around 400-500.

Thanks!

I bet you like Wharfedale Diamond DS-1, well maybe not much about bass brows.gif
