Important is the bank ac. Broker account is not an issue... Can open without problem as most is now CASH UPFRONT account.

If can't open bank account,... then GO OPEN A BROKERAGE ACCOUNT FIRST BEFORE EVEN BROKERAGE ACCOUNTS ARE LOCKED OUT !!!!

Unfortunately no success to open Std Chart during my recent trip to Spore.   

Tried to open at Std Chart (2 branches),  Maybank and DBS.  All insist on employment permit.  For MBB, even if having MBB account in Msia also rejected.  Was informed this year especially, they have tightened the account opening.

Luckily managed to open MCA with DBS after telling them that i have existing CDP account, though this does not work with MBB and Std Chart.  FYI, those who wish to open MCA at DBS to take advantage of depositing physical foreign currency must do it ASAP because starting next year January, they will charge fee on deposit or withdrawal of foreign currency.  The fee was not yet announced at the point when I opened the account.

Happy to say it is still not a wasted trip as also managed to open Maybank KE trading account and Philip Capital trading account as well.

Good that you apply via MBB Msia, as they may give you reference.  Now that you mentioned, bank in Spore ask for reference from bank in Msia.  Do update us of your status, ya.

looks like SG is really tightening it up
in 2015, when i opened my DBS account at DBS main branch in MBFC, no questions asked as I said that I wanted to open a brokerage account

In my opinion is not worth it, unless you are super lazy and want worry free investing.

Reason is the etf have to pay 17% tax on dividends recieve and after management fees, you are left with a low divvy rate. The etf is currently giving only about 4+% divvy vs ~6% if you invest yourself into your own same basket of reits.

The reit ETF will not opt for drip, but will handle any rights issue for you.

Not all reits.. my favorite REIT which is first reit is reporting 2% increase in DPU. 

I expect LMIR to announce raise in DPU as well, as IDR has strengthen against SGD for the past year.

If you want to play indon reits, you need to monitor sgd/idr movement.
