QUOTE(MGM @ Nov 16 2016, 08:00 PM)
Like in HLebroking, u can have a interest-bearing account where u can park your money temporarily b4/after investing in stockmarket, instead of opening a bank account?
Does SG banks/brokers offers such facility?
*
Hi MGM, I know what you mean, let me try to help.

My trust account in sg broker used to return about 1%+ pa, monthly credit. However, since a few months back, I dont remember exactly when, the broker ceased active management of the trust funds, therefore, the return is now similar to sg savings a/c rate, e.g. about 0.3%.

As for opening of sg bank account, yes, you will need it, unless your broker allows direct TT to their bank account. Some do, but still, whether it's a good method for you, only you can decide.

Hope this helps.

Guys,  wanna ask.  If I buying Singapore REIT, how my dividend paid to me?  Same like Mreit?

I'm planning to buy.  Malaysia currency sux. So instead opening a Fx account I think put in SReit could be a better choice for me.
*
Good move, even if u don't do anything with your sgd in trading account, it still performs pretty well compared to myr wink.gif

Now seriously, dividends will be paid to your sgx trading account.

I dont think the impact will be that bad ba, Singaporean love shopping centers. Free air con and don't need to stuck in HDB le tongue.gif

I believe so. Similar to hk. Kl, on the other hand, not so true, as living areas are larger, more comfortable.

I tend to compare kl malls with sg and hk malls, the latter are more crowded.

Just my observations.

Think you already answered your own question.
You won't get anythinh after it's ex-ed.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Dec 2 2016, 11:00 AM)
the 4% drop is precisely why u will NOT get the div. biggrin.gif

I know I don't get dividend because I sold yesterday.

So if I bought yesterday and sold same day yesterday, can get dividend?

If I buy today, will I get dividend?

Edit: I'm trying to find out when is the threshold date to own shares in order to get dividend.

Thanks.

u must HOLD the shares on (or after) ex-date to get div.

if hold and sell on (or after) ex-date, u get the div...  but of course, the selling price lower la..

sometimes, the price bounce back nicely after ex-date adjustment.
no such thing as get div just by buying and selling on same day, same price!

this is a universal rule for all dividends, whether reit or regular stocks.
*
Yes I know same day profit is near impossible. Today's ex date. Buy today and hold for long term, can get div?

Edit: I want to keep this one long term, so it's it that I buy today I can't get dividend ?

the same rule applies.

if u are holding the share on or after the ex-date of the NEXT div, u will get that div.

div is declared 2 or 4 times a year for sgreits.
*
Yes I know, I'm referring to the current dividend for today's ex date.

When is the last day to own in order to get this dividend?

already said... u must HOLD them on or after that ex-date.

u can't get by buying it now.

EX = past, done, no more!

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Dec 2 2016, 11:23 AM)
For next Div, Yes.

For previous declared Div, no
*
Ok so I hv to own the shares from at least yesterday or earlier, until today in order to get the current dividend.

I suppose sgx process happens during yesterday market close for those entitled for dividend.

Thanks.

Plan to get into S-REITs. Does this seems good deal?
*
Depends on your investments style, if u buy small amounts, forumers here recommend standard chartered, lower brokerage, but for me, I'm fine with 0.18%, I'm using KE.

I'm no sifu, but ever since I started with sgx especially sreit late last year, it has given me good returns. I wish I started earlier. Bursa, on the other hand, not so good to me.

Good luck.

I know. But 3% profit each time good enough. I think 3% profit is doable?  hmm.gif
That's why need broker with SGD10/transaction.
*
It's feasible, not for the usual investment objectives but for satisfying hand itchyness. I have done this several times using spare funds, just touch and go, quickie money. These are my idle funds, as I'm never 100% invested.

Time to do REITS trading?  hmm.gif  biggrin.gif

If hand itchy, check out IREIT. If 2016 is to be used as benchmark, there could be a 4% divvy coming end Aug/early Sep based on last closing price. However, there are other factors to consider:
- forex
- price now almost hitting 1 year high

Today price might drop a bit? I heard on local news that European index dropped yesterday.
