QUOTE(Krauser @ Aug 27 2013, 12:18 AM) I don't think I ever got one. This is my second purchase from him. Even if got tracking, it's pretty much useless for international mail. It's as good as our pos daftar. But it gets to me safe and tax free so I'm cool with it. So long it gets to me la. Haha! This post has been edited by pristine: Aug 27 2013, 12:24 AM |

The weather's been rubbish, with the haze, lack of sun and the occasional rain/drizzle. Can't paint.
Since can't paint, did some patch work for my front panel. No, not patching anything I screwed up. Patching up stock features that I don't need. So apparently the "case badge" for my A05NB isn't exactly a case badge. Can't be removed. It's pretty much part of the case. You can see that I actually scratched it really bad when I tried removing it. ![]() Well, if it can't be removed and since it's metal, I took my dremel and sanding drum attachment. ![]() No more Lian Li. Can't stop there. Patched it up with some steel putty and sanded it down to a smooth flat profile after letting it cure for a day. I think all I needed was an hour for it to fully cure but hey, extra curing time never hurt anyone. ![]() Didn't need the stock led indicator holes either, so.. ![]() All this patching is also another reason why I decided to opt for painting it myself. The powder coater I wanted to send my case to had no idea whether bondo or putty would fail while in the oven. Though I'm pretty sure bondo would be perfectly ok in the oven, I didn't want to spend close to RM 100 on bondo to patch holes and then risk a possibility of it all coming apart at the powder coaters and return to me all retarded. Lots more holes to patch up. I think I should get a sander. |

Didn't have a lot of sun today, but it was out long enough for me to work and the paint to cure enough to handle. Photo of my flat black radiators when I'm done with the finishing.
Also, forgot to share my loot from paint shopping the other day. ![]() Need to go buy one more can of paint and possibly another can of primer though. I ran out of flat black today the moment I was done with my radiators. As for the primer, I'm not completely sure one can is enough. If anyone's wondering what the tube of grey stuff at the bottom is, it's the steel putty I'm using. This post has been edited by pristine: Aug 30 2013, 11:59 PM |

Weather's been quite comfortable to laze around the past few weeks, so no painting could be done. There was no sun!
Since I was stuck indoors, did some sleeving once my package from MDPC arrived after my package of custom cables from khfoong81 arrived. I must say, his cable work is quite good. Excellent quality black plug heads (They feel solid and feel premium enough so I'm pretty sure they're not the cheap kind!), clean crimping and made them exactly the way I needed them to be. So far I've sleeved a 24-pin, 8-pin, dual 6-pins, SATA data, switch cables. Still got quite a bit more to go. The colours that I'll be using: ![]() The yellow is there since I'm using an MPower board that'll be stripped of it's yellow stripes, so I thought I'd give them back in a different way. I've started painting my case as well, no pictures yet since it's mostly just primer or single layer coat. If anyone's wondering whether I painted over the anodized finish, well, I didn't. I stripped the anodized layer before painting. Plenty of mixed opinions on painting on anodized aluminium, so I decided to stripped it to bare aluminium and paint on that. Easier to sand so the paint has more bite as well. Did the anodize stripping at home with some relatively cheap chemicals you can get at the hardware store. Borrowed Uni's bench drill and router to drill a few holes for the side panel and case feet, and re-profiled the countersunk holes of the case. Will be using stainless steel countersunk screws which had a countersink profile that didn't match the ones on the case. Now it's fixed. Can see the ending of this project already. |

Didn't want to mention this earlier because I was afraid I killed my 3770k. But I tested it today, and my 3770k boots, so can tell you guys.
My delid-ed 3770k! ![]() Good for you if you can figure out what I was worried I killed it. Other than that, I stripped my motherboard of its heat sinks so I can blast it with air to clean one of these days. Bye-bye sinks. Won't be needing you any more. ![]() Also, stripped my RAM! ![]() That's actually just one stick. I have three more to go. The glue is tough to remove. Have to use acetone and contact cleaner. |

QUOTE(JakeGFX @ Sep 16 2013, 04:27 PM) Vice method. Probably won't bother with sanding the surface of the IHS. But see la how, if I manage to find a small piece of glass then I probably will. Could probably use acrylic as substitute I suppose. Will just need to find scraps or something. haha! |
